Ángel Di María | Transferred to PSG

So, Falcao scores 4 goals for us and takes big wages. A mercenary if I ever saw one. And a useless one, at that. This guy got a standing ovation.
Di Maria, who provided much entertainment in his first few games for us and scored many goals and made many assists - is being given such harsh treatment on this forum?

This makes no sense to me.

Guys, Di Maria is human. He tried to play for us, but like Falcao, the English game/weather just doesnt suit him. Falcao managed to get a deal done with Chelsea and Di Maria is getting a deal in Paris.
Let the guy go and focus your attention on the players who will be playing for us.
I think the French media are influencing caftards.

However, there is one thing PSG bidding for him, United's decision to sell or not. Then there is another thing for a player doing a Sterling/Rojo to get a move. The latter behavior is p*ss poor. Didn't like it when Rojo did it to get to United, don't like ADM doing it to get out of United (if true, but I am giving him the benefit of doubt at the moment)

I think he is an exceptional player and that is not going to change if he goes.

Can't say I've ever deliberately gone to the site to browse it, but it's hard to avoid links there these days.

Can sometimes be quite entertaining, tbf, if you don't take it too seriously.

Sounds like cookie breadcrumbs ;)

I had never heard of it before, which is why it looked really odd

They are lowlives, you can't expect them to know any better.

Difference is that ADM didnt show up on tour. That's why he's getting this kind of reactions.

the fact that it has come to this is poor management by the club and the manager

I'd take £44m right now in all honesty, put a few appearances clauses in it any we make a £10-12m loss. Very annoying but not much more we can do unfortunately, no blame at all on van Gaal. I hope he flops hard if he leaves us for France and never rediscovers his form.

You can't blame him as his an Angel:lol:

Are you @Crackers in disguise?

I don't have the same disdain that most seem to have for Di Maria to be honest.

A move for him to PSG is a no-brainer. He didn't settle, his family clearly didn't settle and then you have an ordeal like a burglary on your family home.

An even bigger ordeal would be seeing Ashley Young picked over you on numerous occasions.

Di Maria is wrong on how he is engineering this move. He should be professional regardless of what he wants. DDG has remained professional. I don't blame him for wanting to move though. It hasn't worked out. I'd put as much blame on the club to be honest. Regardless, I wouldn't sell him. For me he is essential in that team. A fit and on form Di Maria would make a huge difference. We don't have many pacy, skillful players who can unlock defences and provide something different. He can.

Just take the 45m, then throw 50m pounds at reus, and if we cant get him before the deadline go for pedro's release. We're pretty hamstrung here and we need to address issues before the season starts.

You've answered your own question really.

Even if he moved and did it in a professional way he'd still be called a bottle job by people, but to (allegedly) go missing and deliberately not fly out is insulting and makes it appear as though PSG was the move he really wanted all along. He wasn't forced out, he was welcomed here and given the number 7 shirt because we believed he'd be a great player for us. He's been given every opportunity to show his worth (in fact you could even argue he was given more chances than he deserved owing to his potential high level and transfer fee) and was deservedly left out of the team because when we needed players to step up Young and Mata delivered the goods. Now it looks as though he wants to leave for a second rate league and a plastic club in France because he can't hack it in the Premier League. Of course, the burglary is a horrible situation and he has my sympathy because no one should have to go though that, but I do think if he really wanted to stay he'd find a way with clubs help to move on and continue here.

Very hard decision considering this one, we aren't sure of all the facts. The new precedent we set about not bending over and selling for cheap needs continuity if we want to be known for it. He has time left on his contract, unlike Dave which gives us a stronger bargaining position.
If he has gone AWOL then that will weaken our position slightly. However we need to realise that if he does end up staying I think he will be professional as he won't want to put off future clubs, he's down a dangerous road.
In terms of the fee we get, how much it is, is iirrelevant to the average fan, we just want to see him adaquetley replaced, we won't miss him as much as we think despite his talent, someone like Pedro may well have a better first season for us.

I really don't know why we would want to sell him without an adequate fee. So what if he's unhappy? He'll sort himself out once the window closes and he's still here. All these kinds of players eventually do.

Even Tevez stopped playing golf after a while.

He has a long contract with us. We hold all the cards.

Can't see the difference between what we're hearing about AdM and Falcao? Deary me.
One wanted to be here, tried his best and wasn't good enough, we didn't own him so let him go with our blessing.
The other looks like he's shitting out to leave a club he actually signed a contract.
It's a very simple difference, if you can't see that then you are very dim indeed.

I kind of think that LVG knows where he is, but doesn't want the fuss of constant questions about him.

We shouldn't be accepting anything less that what we paid for him anyway in my opinion. This is the same club who splashed out 50m for David Luiz. We should be demanding 75m. feck them.

That would be very inconsiderate of us. Let's just ask for meal deal from MnS in return for di Maria.

Spineless coward. Couldn't hack it in a tough league.

That should serve as motivation to get his spot back, not the ultimate humiliation that sees him go to PSG.

That's clearly not going to happen though. Just because they bought Luiz for a stupid fee doesn't mean they'll do the same for Di Maria. There's a few different factors which mean that recouping the initial fee we paid is going to be difficult. The original point made by the poster earlier seemed to insinuate that is was the clubs own doing that led to the situation we have now when it's been Di Maria pushing all the way.

That's not really true though, is it? There's a lot more to it.
Well we didn't see the best of him last season and any man worth their salt would want to prove the doubters wrong. Yet Di Maria has packed his bags and is off it seems, so although what @Slevs said maybe isn't the fully truth, I don't think it's far from it either.

I'm not really sure its humiliation in any way for him, I think we are the bigger losers in the grand scheme of things. We all know and he knows that he is on a level that Ashley Young can only dream of and I do believe that once he gets to PSG (if they give him the hybrid midfield winger role he wants) that he will perform to a world class standard again. It is more embarrassing for us that we bought a mercenary who didn't want to be here and now we are taking a £15m hit on the fecker

This.

I think we all realize that if FFP sanctions hadn't hit PSG last season, he would have clearly signed for them instead of us.

Can't we just keep him, refuse to pay his wages for breach of his contract and make him work to get back into contention again?

I would like to do this as well. I hope we are fining him 100% of his wages right now.

Agreed. We were never the club he wanted to be at. He was drop kicked out of Real, we were the highest bidder. its as simple as that, he doesnt give a feck, his first interview was about how he admired PSG etc and that "the future knows he could still play there etc" whilse he had just signed a contract with us 2 days before. *this is massively paraphrased and inaccurate but the general sentiment remains*

I can't believe there are people actually sticking up for him. He's a fecking wet blanket. Can't be arsed to work hard and earn his spot in the team so he's cried off awol with a story about being unsettled because of an attempted break in, they didn't even get in. For less than a weeks wages he could hire round the clock security on his house.

Can't wait til he's off the books. Weak as piss.

I thought he said Utd was going to be his last European club before he goes back to his boyhood club in Argentina.

Honestly, i cant remember it really, i just remember being pissed off with him at the time. I swear he basically said PSG were interested and he would have gone if they could have sorted something with real, but they couldn't so he's here at another "big club" or something.

If we don't pay him, doesn't that mean we acknowledge that he is no longer under contract? I don't see how that could ever work out in our favour. I'd much rather have take a £15 million loss and forget about him than a £60 million loss.
