Ángel Di María | Transferred to PSG

I can't believe there are people actually sticking up for him. He's a fecking wet blanket. Can't be arsed to work hard and earn his spot in the team so he's cried off awol with a story about being unsettled because of an attempted break in, they didn't even get in. For less than a weeks wages he could hire round the clock security on his house.

Can't wait til he's off the books. Weak as piss.

Exactly. I'm fairly sure when Alan Smith signed for us he got death threats and his family we're harassed by Leeds fans. Plus he had that horrible injury and the club was in a transition phase but he stuck with us until he was surplus. Now, obviously it's not quite the same because Smith was playing for a club that was probably above his level if we're being fair, but despite the fact that Smith is likely long forgotten already by a lot of fans and Di Maria is on a different planet in terms of ability his mentality makes him look extremely weak.

If we don't pay him, doesn't that mean we acknowledge that he is no longer under contract? I don't see how that could ever work out in our favour. I'd much rather have take a £15 million loss and forget about him than a £60 million loss.

We can refuse him money when he was AWOL so he'd have to pay us all his wages from December until now.

Honestly, i cant remember it really, i just remember being pissed off with him at the time. I swear he basically said PSG were interested and he would have gone if they could have sorted something with real, but they couldn't so he's here at another "big club" or something.
They generally say what they are told to say; he did mention something about PSG not being able to commit to an offer due to FFP at the time and I got the feeling we were always second choice.

I'm actually shocked it's ending like this, we have never ever sold a big name signing after just one season, we really shouldn't have pandered to his wishes. I was delighted when we got one over on PSG to bring him here last season, it was obvious he was on the way there but we swooped in and had a new world class player. To only get a couple of good months out of him after making him the most expensive British transfer is a joke. Not blaming the club at all, the blame lays firmly at Di Maria's door, he should be acting professional and trying to prove himself to the fans next season, instead he's going AWOL until we allow him to run away to the French league. Ultimately his departure can only be a good thing for Peirera, Januzaj and Young so it will be interesting to see if they can step up but it's such a shame he hasn't got the balls to stay and show why we paid so much for him in the first place. Now he is showing what a poor attitude he has I'm not as bothered to see him leave, just wish we knew he was like that before we bought him here and gave him the honour of wearing the number 7 shirt.

Smith earned his place and worked damn hard for us. Personally, I won't forget him as a United player.

With Di Maria at this rate, he'll go down as another flop...and a quick one at that. The way he's handling this looks pretty pathetic.

This thread is a mess.

Say what you want about the case of him leaving but this idea he's some sort of 'scumbag' is a bit ridiculous for me. Also, I'm sorry to state facts here but he's also a quality player.

It's unprofessional of him if he's not turning up as he's meant to but I'm sure he's got his reasons (whether we would agree with them or not) and I'm sure we're docking wages for his time away.

I'm more concerned with how the club deals with it, rather than worrying about calling Di Maria names like some sort of school drama.

Happy to see the cretin leave. I can go back to hating him with a passion.

I think 'scumbag' is a bit OTT but if he's bottled it after just 12 months and used our club essentially as a stepping stone to get a desired move then he deserves all the stick he's getting and he is mentally weak. Being a quality player doesn't excuse him, in fact it's because he's a quality player who should have done more here that people care enough to be annoyed with him.

Did Roy Keane tell you that Jim?

Comes back to my theory that players of Latin/South American countries seldom settle in the premier league especially in our history of transfers. They may give a good season but after that they seem to become disinterested and cannot hack the game in England.

He hasn't shown up to work. What good reasons are there to not show up? He deserves to be called a cnut.

It's more like he never wanted to join us in the first place.

 So everyone who doesn't show up to work is now a cnut.

Right.

He's being unprofessional. That's it.

He clearly doesn't like Manchester, the club, the manager or something else. As I said, I'd rather focus on how the club actually deals with it.

It's not even a stepping stone. He's going to the French league, where there is no challenge for a team like PSG.

So what good reasons does he have for not showing up?

Right.

There are no good reasons, you're right on that.

That doesn't make him a cnut. It makes him ill-disciplined, unprofessional, mentally weak (in all likelihood) and probably ill-advised.

There is that feeling too of course which is something I mentioned earlier in the thread I think.

Well obviously we don't see it like that but you get what I mean- in his mind he's getting his desired outcome.

Yep he's dropping down a waterfall. But will be an absolute star for them in their crap league. Will win every domestic honour for the duration of his contract.
Wonder if we'll flog Rojo now as doesn't need a buddy to keep him happy.

I'm glad we are quickly cutting our losses. £44M is a fairly decent fee IMO.
It hasn't worked out here for ADM but signing a player is always a gamble. I wish him all the best at PSG.

Ducker reporting the fee being around £44m for ADM, seems a fair enough price I suppose for a player wanting out and after the lack of game time he had last season.

The fee is fine. I still doubt we paid £60million up front to Madrid in the first place.

The break in obviously had an effect on him and his family. I'm not buying the whole he know he'd only be here for a season.

He looked happy to be playing early in the season and he brought a house for himself and his family. You don't buy a house to live in an area if you have the intention to leave in 6 months time, makes no sense you would just rent.

Everything fell apart from that break in.

You have to remember that it's easier for posters to get recognized by being negative. Calling a player a cnut is just a cheap and convenient scheme for some to big up their e-cred.

That moment when you realize giving another chance to Nani wouldn't be such a bad idea.

What a waste of money, time and faith. This club needs start doing serious business because we are strengthening other clubs with this pathetic bullshit.

Any chance of him staying was gone the moment he and his family had that horrible attempted house break incident. Also when they saw the weather and the culture and the architecture and he got a tough tackle or two etc. It was just a stepping stone move for him to psg all along in my opinion.

Oh well, farewell Angel, good luck. I'm going to buy a bottle of Tia Maria for £59 quid and then sell it to my camp friend Sancho next year for £44.

I think it played its part but he started to realise how physical the league was and put his tail between his legs and ran off

Maybe not if you earn £20,000 a year. If you're a multi millionaire then it's no issue at all. He'll buy a new one and put someone in charge of selling his old one.

Is that not partially United's fault for not scouting/watching him enough to know this?

Can't say I'm too surprised that a man built like a jockey's whip is going to be pleased with hard crunching challenges.

I also doubt getting sent off for literally nothing against Arsenal did his love for England much good.

Yea agree he will sell the house on to his replacement, or rent it out to DHSS tenants as there is a housing shortage.

To be fair, he's a cnut. Earning 200k a week and not looking arsed for the majority of the season. Sorry but I can't make any excuses for him. He should've taken a massive pay cut and stayed at Real. Or something. Now, let's see of us can be disinterested at work...and still collect a wage. Seems to be different rules for players who are worshipped by fans....
