ThisCan't we just keep him, refuse to pay his wages for breach of his contract and make him work to get back into contention again?

absolute rubbish , you need to expand on this more.the fact that it has come to this is poor management by the club and the manager
I can't believe there are people actually sticking up for him. He's a fecking wet blanket. Can't be arsed to work hard and earn his spot in the team so he's cried off awol with a story about being unsettled because of an attempted break in, they didn't even get in. For less than a weeks wages he could hire round the clock security on his house.
Can't wait til he's off the books. Weak as piss.
If we don't pay him, doesn't that mean we acknowledge that he is no longer under contract? I don't see how that could ever work out in our favour. I'd much rather have take a £15 million loss and forget about him than a £60 million loss.
They generally say what they are told to say; he did mention something about PSG not being able to commit to an offer due to FFP at the time and I got the feeling we were always second choice.Honestly, i cant remember it really, i just remember being pissed off with him at the time. I swear he basically said PSG were interested and he would have gone if they could have sorted something with real, but they couldn't so he's here at another "big club" or something.
Smith earned his place and worked damn hard for us. Personally, I won't forget him as a United player.Exactly. I'm fairly sure when Alan Smith signed for us he got death threats and his family we're harassed by Leeds fans. Plus he had that horrible injury and the club was in a transition phase but he stuck with us until he was surplus. Now, obviously it's not quite the same because Smith was playing for a club that was probably above his level if we're being fair, but despite the fact that Smith is likely long forgotten already by a lot of fans and Di Maria is on a different planet in terms of ability his mentality makes him look extremely weak.
i can't understand how anyone can defend him, let alone want to keep him at the club.
This thread is a mess.
Say what you want about the case of him leaving but this idea he's some sort of 'scumbag' is a bit ridiculous for me. Also, I'm sorry to state facts here but he's also a quality player.
It's unprofessional of him if he's not turning up as he's meant to but I'm sure he's got his reasons (whether we would agree with them or not) and I'm sure we're docking wages for his time away.
I'm more concerned with how the club deals with it, rather than worrying about calling Di Maria names like some sort of school drama.
Did Roy Keane tell you that Jim?

It's more like he never wanted to join us in the first place.I think 'scumbag' is a bit OTT but if he's bottled it after just 12 months and used our club essentially as a stepping stone to get a desired move then he deserves all the stick he's getting and he is mentally weak. Being a quality player doesn't excuse him, in fact it's because he's a quality player who should have done more here that people care enough to be annoyed with him.
He hasn't shown up to work. What good reasons are there to not show up? He deserves to be called a cnut.

So everyone who doesn't show up to work is now a cnut.
Right.
So what good reasons does he have for not showing up?
Right.

It's not even a stepping stone. He's going to the French league, where there is no challenge for a team like PSG.
Of course it does. On the caf you're either world class or a worthless cnut. There are no good reasons, you're right on that.
That doesn't make him a cnut.
True, what was I thinking?Of course it does. On the caf you're either world class or a worthless cnut.

He's being unprofessional. That's it.
He clearly doesn't like Manchester, the club, the manager or something else. As I said, I'd rather focus on how the club actually deals with it.
I think it played its part but he started to realise how physical the league was and put his tail between his legs and ran offThe break in obviously had an effect on him and his family. I'm not buying the whole he know he'd only be here for a season.
He looked happy to be playing early in the season and he brought a house for himself and his family. You don't buy a house to live in an area if you have the intention to leave in 6 months time, makes no sense you would just rent.
Everything fell apart from that break in.

Yea agree he will sell the house on to his replacement, or rent it out to DHSS tenants as there is a housing shortage.Maybe not if you earn £20,000 a year. If you're a multi millionaire then it's no issue at all. He'll buy a new one and put someone in charge of selling his old one.
You have to remember that it's easier for posters to get recognized by being negative. Calling a player a cnut is just a cheap and convenient scheme for some to big up their e-cred.
