This may go into unpopular opinions thread but if he's good in just one position maybe he's not that good after all.
I thought I was in the Sergio Romero thread so got confused reading this...

No no. He was shit. His last few months were abysmal. He couldn't knock Ashley young out the team.
WHat? Midfield is not Rooney's position isnt it?

Dude, he played a combined total of around 140 minutes. Hardly given an opportunity to prove himself.
You forgetting how shit we were in the games after Man City? Our whole team was abysmal.
Did I say that we should keep him solely for the assists?
Your post is plain stupid.
Did you actually watch any of these games? He was dogshit when he did come on in these games. Like complete and utter wank. And this was after some his dreadful performances prior to getting sent off.
Still dont get your point. But you're original point was that if you're only good in one position, you're not good, after all?
What's so confusing?I thought I was in the Sergio Romero thread so got confused reading this...
How is this our problem? Honestly I'm a bit baffled by families finding it difficult to adapt to a new country under these circumstances. This is a well paid profession in which you're supposed to travel a lot and be moving to new places for 15 years, obviously you will need to relocate a lot and you will end up in pretty and less pretty places. They're not going to stick around in Manchester beyond his current contract anyway, it's a 4-5 years stay in a city that's frankly not THAT terrible, living in a comfortable house having money to spend on everything you might want to need.
What could the club possibly do to enhance his life here though? Even if we asume that he's having troubles because of adaptation issues of his family there's nothing we could possibly do. His private life is not club's business at all.
Did you miss the part of my post where I said I was just saying?
But yeah, your first four criteria for keeping him were either directly or indirectly about assists, but obviously us stupid people have read to much into that.
Still dont get your point.
You're saying Rooney is good at only one position?
What's so confusing?

He played more positions than just as a forward and in at least one he was good.I'm asking you whether Rooney's not good, "after all", because he's only good playing as a forward?

I didn't say he was good. Didn't even deny he was shit.
You're being harsh with regards to his performances before the sending off. I don't remember any dreadful performances, nothing great, but he wasn't anywhere near the worst player on the pitch. I should ask whether you watched any of those games?
Let me rephrase what I meant to say. ADM had just one great season at one position while in Madrid. Other than that his form was up and down or jut mainly down like with us last season.Ok, so you're of the opinion that if a player is not good in more than one position, he's shit?
I wonder why LVG never gets to take the blame for this debacle? If it was BR, we would have so many meme as to how he failed to use a good player. Good players don't become shit suddenly. If he doesn't 'suit' United, he should never have been bought. But him being a flop in United is also down to LVG. That's what managers are paid for; find a balance in the team. And if you have a 60m resource sitting in the bench, then somebody didn't do his job right.

As I watch every minute of every game, out of those games the only game where he played more than 30 minutes was against Liverpool , and you know what he gave the ball away again, unlike his teammates, fortunately he gave the ball away to Mata who scored the winner
This.I'm sorry but when you're messing up simple passes and falling over your feet then you're the only one to blame.
TBF, LVG has already publically stated his preference is to keep him. We had a pretty dodgy season last year with all the injuries and when we stumbled on a winning formula, ADM was the one to lose out. No harm in that at all.I wonder why LVG never gets to take the blame for this debacle? If it was BR, we would have so many meme as to how he failed to use a good player. I did and he was dreadful. iirc he got taken off in both the Sunderland and Newcastle games for being shit
I think he was decent against Newcastle, nothing more. I could be wrong of course.Actually, there were suggestions that he was one of our better performers against Newcastle. I distinctly remember a huge drop in our attacking threat after he came off. Same applies to the Arsenal game where he assisted the goal, but that doesnt count.

Do you have family?
If you do and you relocated to a foreign country for work and your family home was broke into and it unsettled them, would you force them to shut up and put up?
No.
You would obviously look after your family!
It's easy to take the "Ladish" view and say he should dump his wife, perhaps tell her to know her role and shut her mouth, do as she is told
This is real life and they have a life away from football.
Oh and yes it is United's problem. We are his employer and it the clubs task to ensure all employees are looked after, more so when they are in the public eye and with their wealth involved they are prime targets these days and safety is a huge concern.

What about the part where he played in every possible position apart from defence and GK? Im guessing that was his fault, too?
I just had a look at the Player Performance thread. Rubbish and garbage are 2 very common words post the Newcastle game. Our attacking threat in that game was pretty much zero anyway though you may be right anyway. When Di Maria we do tend to look threatening even if we are actually not. He did try to create things and that's one thing I'll give him.
He was good in the Arsenal game, I agree. It pissed me off at the time because I thought it might kickstart a revival in form.
No, it's not our problem to look after him and there's nothing we can do. Obviously I might be unsettled but I wouldn't say United are capable of doing anything to help him on that.
We were his 2nd choice. PSG couldnt sign him last season due to FFP.Of course its the clubs obligation to provide the players and family with safety ffs!
United have a huge security operation at the club and to protect each of the players and their families. These things happen of course and it was United who most likely had advisers tell him to take the place that was broke into. From there they moved them on to another place with more security so I believe.
His family were put at risk, he is looking after them and any of us would do the same. Perhaps we were his second choice all along, this break in and his family being unsettled has just added fuel to the fire now and he seems to want out.

Agreed. It was a stupid thing to say from a professional, well an apparent professional.
Wow, you're genuinely making it sound as if it's United fault that he had a break-in.
