There is no shame, he is a very good individual player, he just does not do well in a team. I have come to the conclusion that there is no way any teammate can know what he is thinking.
What use to frustrate me to no end was his knack for shooting from ridiculous distances. Not a loss.

If this is true I'm disappointed and angry with letting such a good player go.

I will be contented if Pedro arrives as a replacement and pleased if Cavani is part of the deal too but my underlying concerns and disappointment will remain.

It's a shame if it's true but we're too big to have players who do not want to play for us for whatever reason. I have no doubt that he is good enough.

It's a 10MGBP loss too but we can spend that money on a CB and recoup that by winning the Champions league :D

Good seasons at Madrid, man of the match in the CL Final and recently two solid international tournaments but one average season for United and we're dumping him like that with possible alternative of another world class player leaving in De Gea ?

Are we're gonna get rid of him but offer new contract to Young ? F*ckin hell, man... we better have some cracking replacement ready in line because Di Maria in form seems like a perfect player for tournament such as Champions League. I thought that was a bloody reason for LvG to sign him in the first place.

Weird decision if true, two weeks away to season opener.

Just not cut out for our league, good luck to him but he's taking the easy way out
Not mentally right for us

Very disappointing. For all of his talent, the worst about it is that he both appears to the world as one spineless sod and makes our club look really bad.

Real Shame, but if Pedro is his replacement, Van Gaal obviously thinking of a functional unit rather than gifted individual.

Very disappointing if he does go, expected big things from him when he first arrived.

He really didn't want to be here, did he? The way his performance dropped midway for the season it was just clear as day he didn't want to be here. For once we weren't over reacting with the accusations of him not being interested.

We will see in a couple of months time what a quality player we have lost, but he needs to man the feck up.

fecking dickhead he is.

Just have to go with it I guess. The thing that bugs me I guess is that we lost 10 million on him

If we could put him in for Depay, that would probably be an improvement. I'd like to see what Di Maria could do playing in this role.

I'm content with Pedro being the replacement. However if his decision to leave isn't entirely down to personal reasons, his family unable settle in England, then I'm not as gutted as you'd expect at losing a player of his quality. Said he wanted to fight for his place, guess that wasn't totally the case.

On a side note that number 7 shirt is becoming a bit of a curse.

Be happy it's only that after the shitty season he just had. All things considered, we're getting good money for him.

Yeah it's not like we are losing a key piece of our team like De Gea is but it still sucks to lose a player of his quality (that we know he has at least)

I think this is another step in the right direction, we never should have signed him in the first place.

Nope, unfortunately I don't think he did.

Time to move on for us.

I dunno, I think he was a brilliant signing at the time. A lot of money, yes, but he was a quality player and looked a class above the rest of our side when he first played. Even if it wasn't an area which desperately needed strengthening, I don't think anyone was particularly questioning his purchase at the time.

Pedro is not Di Maria's replacement, we are not going to replace Di Maria but it doesn't mean we won't be able to move forward and/or win trophies.

Falcao, RVP, Nani, and Di Maria gone. That's got to be 800k saved in wages. I imagine our four signings combined probably don't earn more than 400k combined.

Really? You think letting go of a top notch player is a step in the "right" direction? Wonder which direction is that.

Has this been reported by anyone other than the usual French outlets? All the UK outlets are using that as the source, and they've all been saying the same thing for weeks.

I agree. Pedro will be a much more team orientated player I think, and we aren't going to directly replace Di Maria. If anything, Depay's probably closer to a replacement of sorts than Pedro would be.

getting a team full of players who want to be here would be a good direction to go in

He is obviously quality but it seemed like a desperate signing and from the first moment we have had no proper role for him

Direction in which we sell a player, wc or not, who doesnt want to play for us.
I assume you feel the same way about DDG? Anywho, the way Ayush put it, it seemed like he was happy he is going and he never considered him to be a good signing. That was what I was questioning primarily.
