I can honestly say in all my time watching United I've not seen worst performances from anyone for such a consistent period as Di Maria and Falcao at the end of last season.

Really have you just started watching United? I get your point but that is to harsh.

That's just rubbish though surely. Hyperbole at it's finest. Falcao was terrible for us but hardly Bebe. di Maria also showed (all be it in flashes) what he is capable of for us. What performance are you talking about for adm exactly? I'll give you the west brom game because he was shite when he came on but he hardly played between the arsenal cup game and the end of the season. He certainly didn't live up to the price tag but he can quite easily turn it around yet so many are just wanting to give up on him already.

As a neutral, I would like a see a player like ADM play rather than the more 'predictable' players that United got this summer. As a Barca supported, I was happy when Real sold him beacuse he was an unpredictable entity and a player who actually loves to attack. If i think as an opposition fan I don't think I would be too concerned with any other other midfielders that United have now. Yes, they are good but none of them would ever be able to do what ADM did in that CL final. You know what you will get from these players - stable, reliable performance, but hardly they will do something extra ordinary. If the team scores mere 62 goals in the season, it obviously lacks in the creativity dept. And if the management is willing to let this guy go, I don't see who else will open up defences against parked buses. Keeping possiesion is one thing, opening depenses is totally something else.

That's how I feel. It seems to be about him and his wife wanting to leave. In that case I reckon Lvg will try to drill some sense into him and failing that sell him.

Only thing I'd disagree with is the goals goal scoring winger bit. We do have players who can score. Rooney can score. Mata is a quality finisher. Depay can score. The striker we get will be able to score. But what we really need is a world class dribbler who can open the game up. We simply have too few of them and top many players who will play the sideways pass instead of taking defenders out of the game.

100% agree well put buddy!

Yes, that's it exactly. Everyone has pinned their hopes on Depay but he's very young and looks more the direct tricky forward type rather than the creative dribbler.

A number of people have mentioned Lucas Moura which prompted me to watch some clips. His dribbling looks ace. Can people see him becoming one of the best that aspect soon?

Don't think PSG will let go of Lucas Moura or Verratti anytime soon. They are making a really good team.

If they want Di Maria badly they might just. Verratti will go for an astronomical fee and nothing less, and not for a few years i reckon.

Exactly, barely even plays regularly for Psg. Same people don't want Cavani who has a great scoring record.

'Barely played'? You accuse Twigg of hyperbole and then come up with hyperbolic nonsense of your own. He has almost 2000 minutes despite missing more than a entire month due to injury.

As for why people want him; He's fecking rapid with excellent close control and can score a decent amount of goals. And he's only 22. He would be excellent for us down the right side. A genuine dribbler and a nice contrast to Depay on the left.

Well, I think you will find they are more willing to let Cavani go instead.

Sure. But at the end of the day we have the player they want so we have the upper hand. Our position is stronger with Di Maria than without.

Sadly, I do think we might be more interested in cavani too which again opens up the Di Maria replacement conundrum.

You talking about Moura? Has he been coming along nicely since his move?

Edit: Also, if you have seen Felipe Anderson, how do they compare?

After Ibrahimovic, he is probably the first name on the team sheet.

Bebe didn't play consistently for us. Di Maria and Falcao were consistently in the side and let us down.

I don't want to give up on him. I think there's a class player somewhere in there. But based on performances for United he should be out the door. I can see why LVG would want to sell him.

13 goals in 112 appearances suggest he's not that much of a goalscorer.

I don't know him but what about Felipe Anderson?

Sounds to me as if the door's been left open for him to leave. LvG could of been a hell of a lot more firmer on him staying than he was.

I wasn't that impressed with Di Maria, but he created the most assists in a team that didn't create anywhere near enough chances last season. Memphis seems far more direct and goal hungry than creative.

No they weren't. Adm started about 20 games for us and didn't start until Hull after the fa cup game. He had a poor run of games but was still delivering killer balls and creating our best chances. Falcao is just a busted flush. Nothing can save him.

You talking about Moura? Has he been coming along nicely since his move?

I reckon so. Still not the finished product by any means but the potential is great. A fantastic dribbler who's comfortable playing through the middle or wide right. Would be nice to have genuine pace and dribbling ability down the wings again.

Well said my friend.

I am glad that we added Players like Schweini, Schneiderlin or Herrera. Our midfield has been a mess for some years.
However, every Team Needs Players that can produce something out of nothing. Those Kind of Players put fear into the mind of your opponents as you can never silence them for 90 minutes.

Ashley Young was a better player last year. By far.

He's only 22. The record will improve and besides I'm not sure why you are comparing Cavani to him. One is a striker and the other is a winger.

His main strength is obviously not his goals coring but he still had 7 last season which is good going.

Thanks. We badly need that in our team if di Maria leaves.

My edit might have been after you already quoted me, but have you seen Felipe Anderson? If yes, how do the two compare?

Nah, all I know of Felipe Anderson is Youtube videos.

Neither is Di Maria, so it's not as if we'll need to replace his goal scoring prowess. They both chip in between 5-10 goals a season. It's their pace and dribbling ability which really makes a difference. Di Maria's more refined/productive though which is to be expected as he's in his prime.

I'm fed up of this "assist" thing for Di Maria as well. He got one more assist than Chris Brunt last year. He was involved in less goals than Stewart Downing for his team. Assists are such a random statistic that they aren't an indication of performance at all. I can think of two "assists" now that Di Maria contributed that had nothing to do with good play.

I watch football with my two eyes and I'll tell you Di Maria was pants last year. No amount of stats will change my mind.

After starting 15 games in the league last season? Really.

Yes, he was their best player for those 15 games and he got injured. The right wing is his.

I really don't know anything him either.

I've just seen clips and moura looks so much more talented.

And he probably is, but I don't see PSG selling Lucas, Blanc did a good job in improving his decision making.

Ashley Young was a better player last year. By far.
2 goals & 6 assists to 4 goals & 13 assists. And that was Young having an exceptional seaon by his standards and Di Maria adjusting to a new country and league.

He was absolutely rubbish at the end of last season. Absolutely rubbish.

If we can replace him let's do it. As far as I'm concerned you're only as good as you are in a United shirt, nothing else matters and he was awful for a good six months.
There have been players for United who have been gash for months but you don't just throw a talent down the gutter because of 6 poor months. Were you this willing to let go of DDG during his initial settling in period? Or Valencia when he was absolutely horrendous for us on the RW for two seasons running?

To me, it all depends how badly he wants to stay and play for United. You can forgive a new signing taking a season to acclimatise and start playing his best football but Di Maria put in a bunch of performances in the second half of the season where he just didn't look bothered. Which is, obviously, a real concern. I hope someone at the club is close enough to him to get a feel for how committed he really is. If the commitment is there, then I'm sure he'll look a much better player this season. If not, then we should get rid pronto.

Absolutely. There's no place for a player who isn't committed. That's also what will decide his future performance in England if he stays.

Yeah. And Young was a lot better than him. Like a country mile better. And I know that because i watched the games.

Yeah, this is what it comes down to for me also. His attitude in the latter part of last season on the pitch was a complete contrast to that of which we were used to seeing in a Real Madrid shirt.

If his heart isn't in it when putting on a United shirt then totally get rid. Buy Reus or Griezmann, both would be adequate replacements. Reus would cost a bomb though since he's only signed a new contract
