Hang on, that's true, how can bloke be having a medical for three days running? Have they found out that he's really an alien or something?

The rat faced cnut.

Bloody hell, how many Di Maria failed medical jokes have I read today?

Must be about 15.

Mind-boggles me a bit how a player can prefer PSG over United. He was getting massive wages at United as well and the PL is far superior to the Ligue 1 in terms of prestige, money and quality. Did he perhaps feel staying at United would be too risky with the CL? PSG can offer a guaranteed CL campaign, United still has to do the job in the fourth qualification round.

Lets not be bitter just because he fecked off.
I've been saying he's overrated for the majority of the time he was here. Don't get me wrong... I gave him a chance in his first few games, but I really couldn't see the fuss outside of a few scuffed 'assists'.

I thought the same thing about Kagawa, fwiw.

This isn't bitterness after the fact. I've never considered him to be a United player in spirit, temperament or even quality.

At least we aren't taking a huge financial hit on this.

If we'd forced him to stay and received the inevitable same dogshit cowardly performances as last season we'd probably be looking at a vastly reduced price when we wanted to get rid next Summer.

I think it's more just that he was hoping that by leaving RM he'd step out of CR's (and others') shadow and become the main man - a big fish in a small pond. He misjudged and has now realised he needs to find a smaller pond.

I actually think he's the best player in the world.

Anyone else agree?

fecking hell, too tired to complete a medical? His career has gone to shit since he wanted that higher contract at Madrid basically. Showed what his attitude is really like

You look at the responses Rafael is getting from the fans and players.

I don't think anyone will care when this guy is gone.

Spoony doesn't need me to defend him. He's a big lad and can look after himself but at the time, Di Maria was joining us on the back of a Champion's League final and some great displays for Argentina in Brazil. Who could have foreseen such a calamity? I certainly didn't see it coming. I bet if you trawled the Shed End, or whatever it's called, for comments about Torres when he signed, you'd find pretty much the same thing.

I was gesting because we had signed him. I actually needed convincing that he was worth it...

I'll say the same about Mr Bale once we've put in a bid, Mr Poirot. Or should I say Jessica Fletcher.

Yeah, We've had 140 years of history, including some decades we dominated. PSG are what, 40 years old? No comparison.

The club probably gives the thickest players a script and tells them to read it: "PSG is very big club. Number three in Europe". That kind of thing. I was convinced that City were doing that when Cook was there and each signing made some stupid statement about Manchester being blue.

Agreed.
Some posters have mentioned a big loss if we sell for £45m but is only £5m more than we would have expected him to cost each.

Purchased for £60m at age 26.
Expected to get 6 good years out of him maybe a 7th but he would have been hitting 34 in that season with zero resale value. Say £10m each year for the transfer fee

With wages £10m each year we would have expected Di Maria to cost about £20m a season.

If we sell for £45m and add in wages that is £25m, £5m more than the expected cost. Probably less as a chunk of his wages will be loyalty related and possibly won't get paid.
We payed 65 million euro's which including add ons could rise up to 75; however I doubt that those add ons have been paid as we havent won anything and di Maria individually also hasnt won anything. We're now getting 63-65 million euro's for ADM; so basically we are getting almost all of the money back. The loss will be very insignificant. Well done Ed.

Your mind boggles?

Bigger wages (not that United can't offer/match them, but PSG aren't exactly frugal), much nicer city, guaranteed titles, better weather. Family influence too by the sounds of it.

It's an easier gig than playing for United in the Premier League.

Agree with this, unfortunately. Not everyone is out to prove himself time and again in the toughest competitions. PSG's financial situation gives an option to top level athletes to enjoy top wages, minus the top level league competition. It's like joining the MLS, but you can do it earlier, and still enjoy guaranteed CL football for that occasional thrill.

He was and still is a phenomenal player but he's a spineless, cowardly cnut and I'd be happy to sacrifice his ability to get his shitty personality out of here. Frankly his attitude has been embarrassing. Don't care if we've lost money or not.

.

Too true, it's a shame that such a talent was given to such a pussy though.

Its probably for the best. If he continues his decline this season, there is no way we can get 44 million for him again. No point sticking with him and ending up with a similar situation to Chelsea with Torres. Cutting our losses now is better than 4-5 years from now when he's worth nothing and we're down tens of millions in wages.

He doesnt suit our current system and clearly isnt willing to do the work needed to fit in. So, good riddance.

I was referring to the part of your post about his time at Real. He was mediocre for us, that's fine. For Real though, he was amazing especially in the last season which you termed "decent".

Does that justify him behaving like he could not give a rat's arse for half the season? I am convinced it is because of him being a fanny.
No it doesn't. But he could have a drop of form with all the confusion on what LvG wants and what he can. It can happen that a player (of any stature) be unable to adapt to the manager. Feeling disinterested will get you out of the team and that's precisely what happened. He lost his place in the team to Young/Mata.

Too tired for medical? Did he arrive by the morning flight straight into the oil well??

Anyone can have a drop in form and no one here would complain about it. It is the lack of effort and commitment which upsets people.

He was not the first player who would have had to adjust his game a bit to suit a team's needs and he certainly won't be the last.

Herrera was dropped many times last season as LVG was not happy with some aspects of his game. That did not make Herrera mop around. He adjusted his game to what the manager and he got back in the team. That is what professionals are supposed to do.

Fair enough if you don't want to be here, but at least perform to your best ability till you are. You are paid to do so.

I agree that ADM has under-performed. But this is not the first time.
Moyes era was one where players got disillusioned. RvP started falling sick more often. Overall except De Gea and Januzaj, most of the players seemed to have lost the connect and overall never played to their potentials.

Herrera moved from a smaller team to Man Utd. He maybe loved the LvG philosophy and thought that this is the right way to do things.
ADM need not necessarily feel the same way. All players need not connect the same way with the manager.

Anyways, I am not trying to say what ADM did was right. He was wrong in many ways. I just feel that his loss of interest/form was down to not agreeing with the manager's ways and not because he didnt have the guts to play in the league.
