Morata is miles better than any of our forwards. Would welcome him with open arms for anything less than £70m. I think he will take the league by storm with Mourinho putting his full trust in him.
Why £70m ? Why not more ? Less ? Are you United's accountant ????

It is honestly a bit baffling when people get into the intricacies of clubs finances. As long as we don't bankrupt ourselves, I really couldn't care less about what players cost or what their wages are, and I don't see why people get emotionally caught up with that stuff.

I won't be happy unless we pay between £55,000,001 and £64,999,999.

Too low and he must be not good enough because it's too cheap but too high and we've been robbed.

The price doesn't really matter to me, it's the doubt that he's good enough for a title winning campaign that worries me.

His scoring record at RM seems good as many have mentioned, but I always had the impression that he either came on and scored when Madrid were already dominating and 3-0 up against a deflated defence, or he'd start against the real minnows of the league. This would somewhat undermine the scoring record, is it a valid impression of him?

He has got barely any games against the top teams. It is not like he dissappears in the big games, rather he doesnt get a chance in big games because Zidane loves Benzema. With Juventus he was a key player in the CL.

Morata is a good striker that doesnt work well with Ronaldo, so he is benched for Benzema who plays better with Ronaldo.

Ibra is a world class striker. Morata is Real's bench warmer. I am not saying that the latter is a bad player however can he really replace a force of nature?

Yea, how could anyone replace a 35 year old with one good leg that wouldn't even train til Christmas?

Him having fairly low stamina is only a good thing as far as Rashford's concerned, will be nice to finally be a threat on the break again. We need a winger, centre mid, left back and defender and we're sorted

Trying to judge Morata on is inability to get consistent playing time at RM is nuts. It's not like they are prancing about chopped liver over there.

I have no idea how good or not Morata is or how he'll do for United. But I do know that there is no shame in not being able to break through the starting XI at club like Madrid based on his age and the players in front of him.

I'd be embarrassed of the club if we didn't pay them in denominations of £1m for him. Smaller denominations are for smaller clubs.

Torres moved to Liverpool at the age of 23. Looking at total goals per season, he managed to outscore Morata's last season's goal tally only once and that was by 1 goal. Now, Atletico as a team wasn't able to produce as much chances as this Madrid team but he was also a starter at Atletico with way more minutes in his seasons before the transfer.

He was tailor-made for Benitez system at the time. Looking at Mourinho system, this transfer also looks very promising. Really hope this go through.

Someone said he scores tap ins and headers ? Just go get Chicharito.
What the feck. Watch at least some of his games, he is exceptional at holding up play and has good technique - two things that Chicharito doesn't have. He also scored a lot of goals from outside the box. Don't believe what you see on redcafe, most people here post BS.

I am not saying that we should keep Ibra. All I am saying is that last year our forward line was lead by an absolute phenomenon and we're now replacing him with a player whose barely WC.

Shit, you make a good point. In fact we should probably round off to the nearest £5m because we're so important and it makes the math easier.

So if we pay anything other than exactly £55m, £60m or £65m I'll be livid.

Zlatan gets so much credit for his rep. He was good, but hardly a phenomenon. Its not as if he was leading the golden boot race or even in contention. He came in for one year, did a job and now quite rightly is being replaced with a long term option - what we should have done in the first place

The replacement is an inferior by a good margain even if he's 10 years younger, that's the problem. But nothing else is available for us so...

 Come on. I know his scoring record (15 goals in 63 games for Juve). You asked about his chance conversion rate, which I don't know.
23-24 years old Zlatan 92 Appearances 26 goals for Juve
22-23 years old Morata 93 Apps 27 goals for Juve

Pretty similar record. Not all players greats from the get go unless they are Messi/Ronaldo(the Brazilian one).
Not saying he's gonna end up as good as Zlatan is/was, but his goal scoring record is pretty good for his age.

I'm a big fan of Zlatan but by what metric is Morata "inferior by a good margin"?

He is a Madridista -- hopefully, in 2-3 years time, he doesnt dream of playing for Los Blancos again. Our last purchase from them didnt last very long.
You are forgetting one thing though.

If they sell him to us for a ridiculous price, we are bound for something even sillier if they want him back.

This 'Madrid may come in for him' comments are annoying. It was all people kept repeating when we signed Pogba.

Just enjoy the signing in the now.

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that at least half our fans on the caf are actually insane.

We're about to buy a potentially excellent striker who is right in the age bracket we need.

Not only this, but this signing will likely be the first of four or five signings united make this summer. You have to trust this manager that he knows exactly what he's doing and just maybe knows a thing or two more than any of us about building a title winning side.

Sorry for the rant but I'm just sick to death of the whining.

Oh my. Looks like he will be our first summer signing. Definitely my muppet choice.

Fernando Torres mk2 imo.

I hope morata proves us wrong if signed.

1. A regular bench player at madrid.
2. Italian players not sucessful in the premiere league.
3.expensive buy with 60 to 70 mil.
( price of pogba has escalated the market)

Now we have someone who will in and around the 6 yard box, we surely have to be getting ourselves a Perisic or Douglas Costa? Either or those 2 would hit 10+ assists for the season easily I reckon

He is Spanish.

 It's so funny to read these people be so specific about prices, like they know the financial in and outs of the club.

"Lol £50m? feck off mate, I would spend £42.5m max"

Such pretentiousness for posters who probably live with their moms and never paid any bills.

- Look at Madrid's CL final bench, most would make our first 11 easily
2. Italian players not sucessful in the premiere league.
- Last time I checked he was Spanish
3.expensive buy with 60 to 70 mil.
- That price isn't half bad in todays market for a Spanish NT striker

Who was that poster that screamed "butter my arse" when we were linked with mkhitaryan pogba and zlatan last summer? Things seemed to progress quickly when he seemingly did the necessary.

I thought most people are quite happy no?

now Ed Aarons and Sid Lowe putting their names on it and running it as well. Something is happening folks.

I agree wholeheartedly. The incessant whining about potentially signing very good players has become unbearable.
