Álvaro Morata | Chelsea player

Edit: take these with a pinch of salt. In no universe is Kane better than Ronaldo. But I am only sharing some "facts".

Try comparing them in a competition that they both played in the UCL.

Ronadlo Games 13 Goals 12(.92) Assists 5(.38) Pass Completion 86.9%
Kane Games 3 Goals 2(.66) Assists 0(.00) Pass Completion 74.7%

If you signed Morata people would be saying they're happy because you got the more complete player but now that you signed Lukaku, Morata is just a bench warmer who is not worth as much as Lukaku and is not premier league proven.

Of course I'm going to laugh and give you my perspective, what else do you expect me to do?
To be fair there were a number of posters saying that about Morata all along.

This seemed inevitable after they missed out on Lukaku. What I don't understand is why are they so keen to get rid of Costa? He's a thoroughly unlikeable guy, but been an excellent striker for them. Seems pointless to sideline your main striker before you have a replacement signed.

Most Chelsea fans including me would love Costa to stay but he simply doesn't want to be here. He's been wanting out out since his first year with us and has struggled to adapt to English life, he still barely speaks any English

It's a shame for us, when fit and motivated he's one of the best forwards around and played a big part in us winning two League titles

20 goals and 5 assists at a rate of 1 goal or assist per 68min.

ah yeah I was looking at 2015/16 - Doh.

Either way Costa had 27 in 35 La Liga games vs. 15 in 26 for Morata in 16/17.

One is the tally and goal ratio of a top striker, the other one who is clearly very good with a lot of potential but more of a risk, which was the general point being made.

He's a great player when he's not fighting the world. Some players play better when they get angry others just lose the plot. Personally I think he falls into the second category.

It will be interesting to see if they get him, one of the articles that came out recently was United supposedly got the impression Real had no intention of selling him and were basically dicking us around.

I think he'd do well so i'm hopeful Mbappe stays at Monaco another year and Real keep Morata for another summer.

And with the Costa ready to leave, that would leave them with Remy as their starting striker. Safe to assume the renties won't be overly happy in that scenario.

The rest of the country would be delighted, though

It would be interesting to see who becomes the better signing over time. I had preferred we got Morata for his softer skills (more like Ibra) as I felt he would complement Rashford/Martial/Mkhi better. I fear he would replicate such alongside Hazard & co which would make chelsea less predictable and much more difficult to defend.

Real Madrid would likely get their asking price. Perez would know it is the best time to cash in. He is not a 'perez toy' and he is not french, so Perez and Zidane would have no qualms selling him to help fund mbappe who is another Perez french toy (like Benzema).

How much they can get for him was always dependent on the market, cos this summer, Lukaku and Morata were the two best values available. It was almost certain that one would go to United and the other to Chelsea.

Perez has played his cards well so far, since once Lukaku was sold, the other club would have little choice but to cough up something around the same price that Lukaku went for. The only thing that seems to have changed is that Lukaku came to United, and Morata is likely to end up with Chelsea. That Conte has closed the door on Costa must have had Perez grinning like a chesire cat.

Perez currently has a straight flush.

My response was to a poster saying how Everton would finish exactly where they finished without Lukaku. I was showing an example of how stats can be used to to prove whatever your agenda is.

The fecking frustrating thing is I bet, if Chelsea get him it will be lower than what Madrid asked from Woodward.

I think Chelsea will end up with Aubameyang and Morata will either stay at Real or move to Milan.

How are there no takers for him stilll? Haven't other teams seen his stats and his minutes to goal ratio? Oh, its almost like stats don't even tell half the story. Who'd have thought? He's a dead cert to move for a huge fee this summer though, what with being one of only 3 available strikers in world football right now. Well that's what Redcafe told me anyway.

With Lukakau gone, surely Chelsea will now be eager to wrap up a deal for Moratta. I can see them paying a club record fee for him. /s

I'd be surprised if any team pays over £40m for him.

Or a more intellegent and skillful guy who has proven he can score goals at any level rather than just being a flat track bully.
I thought we were talking about Morata?

Im just joking BTW, since we arent signing Morata and have signed Lukaku I reserve the right to act as though he is the clearly better footballer, and more importantly as though I have always felt like that, all summer, and in fact Lukaku was definitely the striker I really wanted us to get.

we might have had a guy with red hair scoring less goals than the guy we actually got?
The more the MUTV pundits say what a bit unit he is, the more worried I get that is all he is. That is all they have said every single night. Not how good he is on the ball, just what a big unit he is. So hoping he proves me wrong.

I worry that everything will need to be tailored for him and that if something isn't functioning he will not work well. I would prefer someone who can also turn a bad pass into something because of their skill. At least we haven't got long to wait and see and the standard of opposition should suit us.

Just think about your happy place and stay calm. Once he starts playing and scoring things will seem OK again. Firstly on the tour, and then even more so once the season starts.

For me personally Id be more apprehensive if we had Morata because I know so little about him other than what Ive read. At least with Lukaku I know what he's about, Ive seen it with my own eyes. Which gives me confidence he's going to be fine. Also the fact Mourinho believes in him and I believe in Mourinho.

Morata, I still have this nagging doubt based on the fact that his numbers just dont compare. Yes there are mitigating factors, but still, he has never scored 20 goals in a season and while you can extrapolate that he would if he played more regularly, that isnt the same as him actually doing it. Plus this whole "impact he has on the attackers around him" argument is so intangible. I can see the logic of it but not everything that sounds logical works. You can argue it the other way as well. I would say we have some pretty tidy, skillful attacking players, particularly Mata and Miki, also Rashford and Martial, Pogba and Herrera etc. We dont necessarily need anyone to lift their levels (I think they will lift their own levels, they dont need a striker to do it for them), we need someone to finish off the chances they make.

Im not saying that's right either, Im just saying you dont know how things will develop until you see it. So Ill reserve judgement until I see them playing, properly, in competitive games in the league. But I feel there are plenty of grounds for optimism.

Feel sorry for the guy. Always liked him and thought he would be a better big-match player than Lukaku - a technical and entertaining player.

Maybe in the future, he's still just 24.

Surely I'm not the only guy who doesn't give a feck and doesn't feel for him either? He could've forced Real's hand if he wanted to move so badly. Clubs do this shit all the time with us, we're linked to virtually every player until they get the contract extension.

That's got to be bollocks surely, he would have red hair still now?

Maybe he is a nice guy and not a complete d*ck or maybe Perez had promised it would be made easy to move and has gone back on it.

Yeah sure, still, there's a difference between burning bridgers and making a firm stand on what you're going to do with your life for the next couple of years. I think Morata was 'fine' with both going and staying, cannot complain now really, doubt he will much too. Perhaps it was just a shit haircut.
