You argue that Lukaku is the best replacement for Ibra but then want other players to provide what we are missing with Zlatan's departure?Better season from Mikhi,Pogba and whoever our left winger is. Based on Lukaku's past stats he is as much of a guarantee as you can sign, he almost had 20 goals as a 19 year old in the premier league and has only improved from there with a poor west brom and everton side.

Even with Zlatan last season, we were far from competing for the title, and thus we need more than just existing player covering up for Lukaku's short comings and might be better to sign morata who is as good as a goal scorer but also contributes more to build up like Zlatan did.
How do Real Madrid get away with quoting ridiculous prices for their benchwarmers such as Morata and James?
Morata has been scoring in the CL finals and has been our clubs 2nd. goal scorer helping the team win the league with his performances while if you take out all Lukaku goals from last season, Everon would still finish the season in seventh place.
The only ridiculous thing is someone actually questioning the prices quoted for our players, specially after seeing money thrown at the likes of Lukaku.
Yes, thus the price we offered, which was 70m Euors and more. Was that not high enough? Ask yourself if before the transfer window opened, would you have accepted a bid over 70m Euros for him?
Lukaku's was always going to be subject to the "english clubs" tax and the 100m pounds pricetag that Everton set for him earlier in the year.
Nonetheless, I am still hoping for the Morata deal to go through.
They are the best club in the world so he wouldn't be lying like Veratti and he is guaranteed medals. If he stays, expect a Verratti style declaration of his happiness in the best club in the world.

Then they should have let him go to Juve. I tell you something. They would have had more of a chance in the CL final with him than fatty Higuain and I am serious there.Yes but we don't know if he is actually happy or not. He has already won bunch of trophies and it was evident he wanted to move.

Perez is clearly placing "Real Madrid player" tax on his outgoing players and considering this team won 3 CL's in last 4 years, he has all the right to do so. He actually has something to hold on to be doing that, while the "english club" tax is is not really related to anything, is it? Whatever the "english clubs" tax is, "Real Madrid player" tax should by all accounts be higher.

Yeah it's wrong to question a demand of nearly £80m for a bench player. Morata is a good player but unproven in the premier league. Real Madrid's demands were a joke, hence the transfer not happening. So obvious they were milking the fee, to pay for most of the Mbappe fee. Horrible clubMorata has been scoring in the CL finals and has been our clubs 2nd. goal scorer helping the team win the league with his performances while if you take out all Lukaku goals from last season, Everon would still finish the season in seventh place.

"English clubs" tax is how Real got Modric - spurs would never have sold Modric to us for the price that Real got him for. Everton are selling to direct league rivals who could cost them points, and Lukaku is their first team striker and top scorer.
You also mentioned that Morata WANTS to leave - holding him back even when the deal is more than fair is just not the nicest thing to do. The price we offered was more than enough to offset the "Real tax" you mentioned. We reportedly sealed the Lukaku deal at 75m, not the 100m Everton were looking for, which shows that both clubs have to reach a compromise. Perez seemed to not want to do that though.
It turned down that he was second choice for us too. Poor lad
Morata is a good player but unproven in the premier league
He might have been second choice but are we going for just one signing or more? That is the question. Jose might want them both. Zlatan is out, looks like Rooney is too. Unless Rashford/Martial/Lukaku compete for 1 starting place, we just might sign one more striker.
This is exactly what will happen imo. We wont sign another striker.
As United can't put a cross in to save their lives at the moment. Yes.You think he'd have problems handling a "premier league cross"?
Maybe Mbappe is happening at 120 mil €+ and there are other interested parties for Morata signature so Perez is confident he'll get more then what you offered, irrelevant of how fair your offer was.
There are a lot of comments here about clubs valuation of our bench player so I just want to point out that things look differently from non EPL fan's perspective.
What I see is a striker who plays for the 7th. best team in EPL, that finished 7th. and (mathematically) would have finished 7th. without him scoring a single goal being sold for 75 mil. Morata is worth more in my book.
What are you expecting ? Will Madrid sell him to Chelsea for a less price than 90m and won't try to feck it up again like they did with us or they will try to milk Chelsea again asking for the same ridiculous price ?!
Think they might have been looking at Llorente as a backup. Not sure of him as the main striker for a club like Chelsea. I like Llorente, was fabulous against United for Bilbao.Look, I've always rated Lukaku but actually really believe Morata is the better forward. There's no need to throw comments like 'horrible club' because we stuck to our price for him. I don't see him going to Chelsea as they'll have a cheaper option in Llorente who will probably do pretty good for them aswell but it would be nice to see him play in the Epl so that he can prove my point.
Yeah, not sure either but the price might play a big role here. Don't think he'd cost half as much as the other available strikers right now.Think they might have been looking at Llorente as a backup. Not sure of him as the main striker for a club like Chelsea. I like Llorente, was fabulous against United for Bilbao.
Well said. This is so true. Higuain is a choker while Morata is a fighter. Dybala was shitting brick in the tunnel already and after Ramos and Casemiro went into him hard early on he was done for the night and that was it from Juventus front line. Morata has character and fire in him. Sometimes he channels it wrong but he never goes into hiding.
I rate Morata higher too but then I believe Lukaku is more suited to Mourinho's setup and is more of a sure thing when it comes to racking up the numbers in the PL.Look, I've always rated Lukaku but actually really believe Morata is the better forward. "The striker is very upset with Real Madrid and sick of the attitude of the white club. Since May, Real Madrid officials know they want to go and asked them to make it easy for them to leave."
Hope we are still in for him though.
