We're signing him within the next 72 hours? Or does it say days?
I thought it said we could sign him in 72 hours. I think the report is based on the fact that Morata's dad and agent met with Madrid today and that Mourinho prefers to have his signings done before pre-season.

We've already signed one player.

Chelsea and Spurs haven't signed anyone of note yet, despite Chelsea being linked to everyone. Arsenal have signed someone on a Bosman. Liverpool have 1 player. City have 2, and one is a goalkeeper.

A lot of early business done in both LvG summers and Mourinho's first summer. The only 'slow' window to date under Woodward was the Moyes nightmare. Still plenty of time left.

Liverpool have 2.

RM screwed themselves by waiting until Deadline Day to finally lodge a concrete bid. United filed their side on time. RM didn't.

They've just never been fully committed to getting him, for whatever reason.

I can't help thinking that failed transfer (whoever you choose to blame) won't have been forgotten.

Doing business with Real is never going to be easy.

Especially as they know we are desperate and they don't even care about selling him.

Aubameyang, Lacazette. Oh wait, consistent goal scorers aren't Mourinho type of players.
I will like us to get Aubameyang(with Morata) and play him as the right forward. Just like Cavani under blanc, Anelka under Ancelotti and Eto'o under under Mourinho, he will have the freedom to join Morata in the bus when we have the ball; Valencia will provide width while Perisic hugs the left wing. With two proven goal scorers, perisic and pogba providing the ammunition, we will score a lot of goals. Its a pity we are not being linked to Auba.

Morata is not joining us. I believe he is using us to show to Real Madrid that he has options, so they should give him a chance and play him ahead of Benzema. This way he looks like a very wanted striker who can cut it with the big boys and Real Madrid keep him and give him more game time then past season.

They just extended Benzema until 2021. It's not Morata. It's us.

He is joining us. We will overpay though, but then he either does well for us and gets lauded or gets castigated. A difference of 20 million won't aid his retrospective analysis.

I've come around on his merits. I wouldn't mind him joining us. Just don't want it to be a ridiculous fee. Something similar to Martial's would be fine.

£70m for Real's 3rd striker is way more than overpaying mate, but if Jose thinks he's worth it then so be it. Juve seemed more than happy to let him leave last season. Silly fees going around now so who knows what is value for money or not.

It is. But whether we pay 50m or 70 is a tad irrelevant to us end of the day if he does well or does badly. If I am pissed with his performance, it won't change whichever amount we pay. And he certainly isn't valued at some meagre (I know) 30m.

If Sandro signing for Everton, I wouldn't want to be Morata sat on the Real bench if Sandro starts banging the goals in for Everton. It could bring him to the attention of the Spain manager in a world cup year. Morata needs to be playing and he knows it.

I'd much rather get Chico back as 2nd choice striker and give Rashford the full time job rather than impede his progress by sticking him on the wing another season.

80m for morata is crazy money.

That depends, will you be happy for another season with a top 4 battle ? Because you can't enter the league with Chica and Rashford as your main strikers and ask for anything higher than 4th tbh with you.

Morata really isn't better than Rashford and I've watched Real regularly last year. If he was British none of this nonsense would be happening.

I'd be much happier if we spent 80m on James if we are to buy a Madrid player they don't want. He is obviously someone who is a match winner but lacking game time.

You didn't replay to my question.

I guarantee that people are gonna be shocked by the eventual fee.

I hope he is fecking good.

How good is his hold up play? If he's anywhere near Ibra or Drogba, it'd be swell. Last season, we were creating chances with Ibra, because he managed to create so much space for Pogba and the wide men.

Imagine wanting Hernandez over Morata, the mind boggles sometimes. There is no logic to it if you actually want the team to be successful.
I wouldn't mind Hernandez and Morata. Hernandez would be useful coming off the bench. I would prefer Morata and another top striker though. We need to start scoring goals.

We did win league titles and reach European finals with Chicharito in the team. Is it really that surprising, given that the team needs an ace finisher?

That's not what I said and you can't ignore the fact that Chico is 1/5th Morata's price point.

He's a diligent and hard-working player and someone I'd love to have but the starting center forward on a premier league winning team is something he isn't.

Hernandez didn't want to play second fiddle years ago, why would he want to now? He's also, not that great? At least these days, West Ham is about his level in 2017. I'm sorry, I feel like I'm insulting peoples mothers when I say anything negative about him on here.

But Martial's fee was considered absurd by many at the time...

At this point in time we really can't be complaining about transfer fees. Clubs will ask for even more money as the end of the window gets closer because they know we can't go into next season with the strikers we have. They hold all the cards and we have no other option but to meet their demands.
