Álvaro Morata | Chelsea player

There are 3 big name strikers whose future is currently in limbo ie Belotti, Morata and Lukaku. Belotti is now being courted by Chelsea with rumours saying that Conte wants him at all costs. Morata was set to sign with us but we seem to have hit a snag. Lukaku has Mou's best buddy Mino as agent and Pogba is currently in holiday with him

Lukaku wants Chelsea though doesn't he. And with Costa possibly off to Atletico, it means we're left with Morata or Belotti.

If we don't land Morata can you see us paying the release clause for Belotti?

Perez knows we're deperate and will squeeze us for every penny.

With belotti it's straight forward pay the money and take him but too much for a player who just had one good season

I really like Morata and think he will surprise a lot of the people who are not keen on him.

He is very good on the ball from what I've seen of him.

Dealing with Real Madrid is the only negative. He won't get a lot of game time if Benzema, Ronaldo and Bale are still there next season, which is highly likely.

I wonder if Conte wants Lukaku though. From rumours in Italy his eyes are set on Belotti. Lukaku is Mou's former disciple, he's got Mino as agent and he's Pogba mate. Everton might also be interested in involving Rooney in the deal too. From what I see it, its a far more straight forward deal.

Would be huge money but if Morata is a no go, I'd be pretty happy with that. Especially if Everton also took Rooney off our hands.

If Madrid are going to make it impossible to sign Morata then we simply have to move to other targets, we can't risk letting this drag on for too long.

I know there is a shortage of strikers at the moment but we already have Rashford and Martial who we expect to be world beaters in the next few seasons, what's the worst that can happen if we trust on them just like what Monaco did with Mbappe.

We can focus on signing quality players in other positions that will improve our attack, such as:

Goal scoring Wingers (Like Sanchez)
Attacking left back (like Mendy)
goal scoring CM (Like Ali) /CAM (Griezmann would have been perfect)
A deep lying midfielder.

We already have player like Mata who also has a good scoring record. I also expect Pogba and Mkhitaryan to improve next season.

Arsenal didn't have a recognisable striker but they outscored us, Liverpool also don't have a recognisable striker and yet they outscored us. If Arsenal and Liverpool can make it work so can we.

What other targets? There's only Belotti who will cost even more and has even less pedigree. Lukaku has gone. I know Everton now have money, but they are spending like a sailor in port.

Aubameyang, Lacazette. Oh wait, consistent goal scorers aren't Mourinho type of players.

Mine is an educated guess. I might be wrong

What I am 100% certain is that transfers are extremely unpredictable. I remember SAF (not Ogden or Di Marzio) telling us, quite plainly, that once he return to Manchester he will be signing Gazza. Few years later he did the same with Alan Shearer and his own brother did the same with Salas.

My impression is that there are 3-4 clubs who are aiming for the same 2-3 players. That create's a seller's market and is forcing the transfer market to stall. However the slightest of diversions can change everything. For example Mbappe might handle a transfer request, which will pave the way to Real signing him up, which in turn will free Morata to sign with us which in turn will pave Chelsea's path to sign either Belotti or Lukaku. Alternatively Belotti might handle his transfer request which will see Chelsea sign him up. There will be no competition for Lukaku hence we would be able to buy him on a more realistic price.

Lacazette's carrer average: 157 mins per goal (this is including shit loads of penalties he scored)
Morata: 140 mins per goal (he isn't a penalty taker for his team)

Oh wait, this is again some WUM posting nonsense.

Lukaku throbs for Chelsea. In Belgium once I'm pretty sure he said something like the reason he actually learned English was because it was his dream to play for Chelsea because it's who he supports. The board/Emenalo and Lukaku are most likely very happy for the deal, I imagine Belotti is a key target for Conte but I expect he'd take either of the two.

Does Conte want him though? If not, then rest assured that Antonio will throw a hissy fit about it. You really don't want to be at the receiving end of that. The guy makes Rafa look like submissive.

Funny you mentioned Rooney earlier as it's just broke that Everton do want to bring him back. :D

And yeah I remember the Shearer and Salas ones well. I even remember reading in my world soccer mag our new squad list which has Celio Silva in there! Transfers are indeed very unpredictable.

Celio Silva is different though. It was a matter of work permit

Was on talksport & Jim White, so taken with a pinch of salt but yeah, fingers crossed!
Were there any United representatives present at this meeting?

If not what does that mean exactly, that he's signing a new contract with Real?

Probably, we fart around for so long the club in question is either forced to publicly admit they want to sell, or publicly admit they don't (which is far more likely) and the player then ends up with a new contract and an assurance of more game time.

Similar to the Fabregas deal in Woody's first window. Barca would have sold him had the bid been right from the off, but we let it drag out until the media cornered Cesc about it, who then stated he didn't want to leave and pledged himself to Barca. Barca were then forced to make a public statement clarifying their stance and without looking like underhand scumbags to one of their own, unsurprisingly stated they didn't want to sell after all.

If Morata is the man Jose wants, paying 60m or 80m is neither here nor there really. Just get it done Woody, or admit it can't be done and let's move on to targets you can actually procure.

I think the whole Ronaldo ordeal has definitely delayed the transfer. It may very well have been done by now otherwise.

So I have a slightly different question, in order to break up the recurring themes.

I saw a few people in the thread mention he could be like a Torres in the PL. I haven't really watched him that much, so I have to ask, is he actually that quick? Prime Torres had some scary acceleration and pace

It was more about the impact he could have and him being suited to Mourinho like Torres was for Rafa. But still, there are definitely similarities. Morata has excellent speed for a player of his height. That along with great close control makes him very dangerous when he has lots of open space and on the counter attack like Torres did. Also, both are very good in the air.
I would say that Liverpool Torres was little more explosive though, as someone already mentioned and more direct and prolific. These 2 last characteristics are something that Morata already improved in his last season in Madrid.

This is pretty good video from his "bad" last season in Juventus where you can see that he has lots of speed, great close control and better link up play than many give him credit for. His defensive contribution is also underrated. Btw. from the video it's also clear how often he operated from the wider position which is one of the reasons he didn't score so much.

His agent would be our representative if we were signing him

Surely we would have someone officially associated with the club present when negotiating a transfer deal.

Anyone official from the club go to Juve to negatiate for Pogba? No, deals are handled through intermediaries in our case. If the clubs need to speak there is a thing called a phone

The meeting lasted just 50mins apparently.

Who reported this mate? That's an extremely quick meeting if true.

Not necessarily. But if i might be pessimistic i dont think it looks good. The president name checked moratas father as the person who wanted morata to leave. The fact he's there in a relatively short meeting looks like it might be part of a charm offensive. Letting him and agent know what they can offer him to stay.

It might be madrid asking them to forgo some other form of payment (loyalty fee) to help transfer along. But not sure why the father would need to be there.

Doesnt look good to me! But im a pessimistic cnut

Good that there's finally some movement in the deal 1 way or another.

Either Morata's dad has gone there to tell Perez to let him leave, or he's gone there to get convinced by Perez to stay.

Hopefully we will have some positive news in the next few days.

The wonders never cease. Next to be invented will be a phone that you can use on the go.

I think you are spot on here.
