Álvaro Morata | Chelsea player

Him getting married has nothing to do with it, because all reports mentioned we already have a full agreement with him and the problem is with reaching an agreement with Madrid. The negotiations were going between us and Madrid, not us and Morata.
Exactly, Morata has agreed terms with United but we are trying to get the transfer fee reduced while Real are trying to increase it. Meanwhile Chelsea are getting involved and that situation could even lead to a further increase in the transfer fee.

We are going to lose Morata to Chelsea if we do not manage to forget Ronaldo for a short while. Sign Morata first then look at any situation that may involve Ronaldo. My guess is that Real Madrid will pay Ronaldos tax bill and he will Stay there. He is just pissed at the tax situation, and blames the club for it. If they sort it he will stay there.
I very much doubt we're looking at Ronaldo - he probably won't leave, wouldn't come to PL if he did (would risk his legacy) and if we've not budgeted for him it's unlikely we'd start looking at it now.

Not to mention I just can't see Mourinho wanting him at United.

Problem now is that if we get Ronaldo then we don't need Morata. Ronaldo would play up front for ud and that's where Morata wants to play. He won't come to play second fiddle again.

With this in mind i fully expect that the Morata thing has been put on hold in a sense that we won't push it now. If we end up chasing Ronaldo all summer then we could quite easily end up with nothing and that would be a disaster for us.
Not really mate. There is room in the Real side for Benzema and Ronaldo, so I'm sure we can accommodate both.

The mirror reported earlier today that Chelsea were planning on 'hijacking' the Morata deal...

They're most likely talking shit and just using the whole Ronaldo situation to stir the pot, but I can't help but worry a little bit that they might try and get him if the Lukaku deal shows no signs of progressing.

Sigh... sick of the transfer window already, I long for the Teletext days.

I actually think those news about Chelsea wanting him are BS unless they gave up on the 100m of Lukaku. They won't bring both Lukaku and Morata with both costing them +170m, which is unrealistic.

If we don't get him, he'll probably stay.

I disagree. Also Madrid will keep Morata if Ronaldo goes.

I can't see Ronaldo playing AM, tracking back as a LW or playing that narrow right sided role for us. He wouldn't suit any and Mourinho won't change everything for Ronaldo. He'd have to play CF for me, especially as he gets that bit older.

Ronaldo will not leave Real. He is just making a scene because of his situation right now with the tax. He somehow blames Real Madrid for it. If they pay it he most certainly will not leave. They will pay it. Please United do not get distracted. Forget Ronaldo and concentrate on our transfer targets.

Still my favourite target this summer. Hope we can get it done.

Can't get attached to that Ronaldo story and think he won't move anywhere.

First of all it's not a response it's a stand alone statement, it's 'idiotic' to not realise that.

Secondly, the only thing idiotic currently in this thread is the person unable to understand why someone might want a bit of private personal time the week before one of the most important events of their life, which is also a fairly busy week, and that they may wish to wait a week or two to sort out work stuff.

Jog on ya lemon.
Youre a prick.

What is all this talk of losing him to chelsea ? I might of missed something here but i don't recall hearing of any interest from them.

Although i have been camped in the Ronaldo thread so there is a good chance i have missed something.

* Gentlemen, calm down, please. There's no need to call each other a prick, a lemon, and suchlike, thankyouverymuch.

And what you basing that off?

So does everyone just base their opinion on signing ex Madrid players on what happened with Di Maria?

People are being ridiculous. Most Madrid rejects will walk in our team currently.

Late reply but I'm basing that off he is said to want a move to Juve. Nothing to do with being an ex madrid player and more to do with players can't move to where they want due to too much money being asked and are forced to side step or detour to where they want to go.

I don't think that will happen. Ronaldo has spent his whole career facing the opponent's goal, not back towards it like a lone striker does and holding on to the ball. If Jose wants to do that, then I rather not buy Ronaldo as he will be half as effective. If we want the best out of him, we need a striker for him to play off of. Hence, I maintain that we should settle the Morata deal first before thinking about Ronaldo.

As for tracking back, I am sure that with Ronaldo, Jose will make adjustments to get the most out of our main goal threat.

So if Ronaldo leaves , do you think he will hold a permanent spot considering real in almost all certainty get another galactico be it either hazard or mbappe. And buying a new Star would certainly mean another starter

It depends on who they would have in mind. I do certainly think that Morata's preference is to stay at Real Madrid, and their preference is to keep him. Many people have said that one of the main reasons Benzema is currently playing a lot more than Morata is because he's more accommodating of Ronaldo in his style of play. Of course I think he is better too, but if Ronaldo were to leave then surely Morata will surely have another chat about his chances of playing before making a decision either way.

Let's get this done ffs, tell Madrid we believe Ronaldo won't leave etc. Get Morata signed and then go back and say hello for Ronaldo

The thing is Ronaldo leaving probably just makes it easier to convince Mbappe to join. Of course Madrid would happily keep Moratta but I don't think they see him as the future.

Really want some movement on this deal.

Think we need Morata more than we realise, quit haggling and pay the fee!

Totally agree. RM are not going to do us any favours and haggling at this stage seems a bit pointless. Jose wants him he will come, let's make it happen.

Puts an end to this ronaldo nonsense too.

Who?

Morata?

Naa never heard of him mate, back to the muppet heaven thread. He plays on the left, he plays on the riiiiiiiightttttt.....

Madrid aren't idiots. They may use all this confusion to ask even more for Morata. They may even sell Ronaldo to PSG and then refuse to sell Morata unless we sell them de Gea. How do you like them apples?

Possible negotiation for Ronaldo could really affect Morata. All, just guessing but...

If we somehow get Ronaldo, there is not much need for Morata. Ronaldo would mostly play upfront.

If we somehow get Ronaldo, Real won't sell Morata or to say it more correctly they would be stupid to lose both.

Anyway, hope we didn't change the whole transfer strategy chasing Cristiano and that this one is pretty much done. Also, think that Jose isn't that naive and will proceed with his first transfer choices while Ronny is playing the victim role in Madrid.

They may, they may, they may..... I may become President.

The only thing that's for certain at the moment is we want Morata and he wants to join us. You can add all the 'may' you want, I may grow a vagina but let's stick with what we know.

Need to really get this one over the line. If I were Perez though, I'd put this on the backburner and allow United to stew while the Ronaldo drama plays out. The longer it goes, the more desperate we will get - as there's no comparable striker (to Morata) available and Flo knows he doesn't mind keeping him or flogging him to Chelsea or PSG either. Ronaldo won't move. That's certain. Anyone thinking otherwise is just setting himself up for another bout of misery.

Frankly, at this time, it's probably in our best interests to give up the last 4-5 Mn and just get the deal done. If, (massive, mighty IF) Ronaldo's move is a serious likelihood, we should see it as another move altogether. We need a central striker and Ronaldo won't play that position. Morata is our best option.

Mourinho is not the type who will wait forever. At least he didn't do that for Rooney.

I hope we get this done in this week or we should move on to Belotti. We don't have time to wait, though. At this point I don't mind what we'll pay, just get our transfers done in the next 3 weeks.

I'm more concerned with getting this one done than the whole Ronaldo circus. That's too much of long shot to potentiality risk our summer plans for.

If we were in a position of strength then fair play, but we're not. It's absolutely crucial that we have a good summer; to piss that chance up the wall over a pipe dream would be entirely fitting of us these days.

How do you mean? He waited for Rooney till the very end and when he got the new contract, bought Eto'o in last 2-3 days of the transfer window on a 1-year contract as there were no other options available.

That's not the best example.

This won't be wrapped up this week, that's for sure. We do have time to wait. Frankly we don't have a choice if we want to get our main targers without overpaying too much.

Let me know if that happens

Well at least finish our other targets and let this be the last one to get wrapped up after that Ronaldo saga is over. If we want our targets to be present in the preseason then we have 3 weeks to finish the remaining 3 deals.

And we'll end overpaying for most players no matter what, I believe.

Yes but it's a question of how much we'll be overpaying. No need to pay £10m extra to get a player in july instead of august. Especally no need to move on to other targets because we can't wrap up a deal with someone within the next week or two

Wait what?

Point is, Madrid won't sell Morata until the Ronaldo situation is solved. So what you're suggesting (get Morata, then go for Ronaldo) looks highly unlikely to me in any case.
