That still won't be financially worthwhile.

I think the revenue growth has topped out in the UK. This is the last great package offering by sky.
China India and the US will be their next revenue drivers. But they will take a while.

All over twitter that Cadena Ser reporting Morata has agreed to £136k a week.

All over twitter but where are tweets from SER? The guy tweeted 6 hours ago and yet we don't have original source material.

This is the only tweet I could find so far. The good news is that it is being reported by Man Utd Carreno who broke the Morata story.

Once the entire football course is over, the time for the transfers is over. One of the names of this summer market is that of Alvaro Morata, who will return to leave Real Madrid. On the canterano and his transfer talks this Tuesday Man Utd Carreño in his commentary in 'Hoy por Hoy'.

We are about to beat the money record of a transfer of a Spanish footballer Fernando Torres had 58 million euros when he left Liverpool for Chelsea 48 Lazio went to Valencia for Mendieta and 44, United to Chelsea by Juan Mata.

The record is going to beat Álvaro Morata. In the coming hours, surely between today and tomorrow, close the agreement between United and Real Madrid in a transfer that will be around 75 or 80 million euros.

Spanish football continues to export players, although it is a shame that Alvaro Morata did not win at Real Madrid. For the second time he's going out the back door. They convinced him when he went to Juventus to return and be important, but he goes away again because he knows that with Zidane he does not have minutes.

So Álvaro Morata, who is no longer important in the national team because he does not play for Real Madrid, needs to feel important in a great club to return to being important in the Spanish team where he has won the match Diego Costa.

Not having a go at you mate. It's just there are so many feckwits on Twitter who just post random shit for some attention it's hard to know whats what without looking at the original article.

Love how the fee was the euro amount but quoted to look like GBP, then when the Euro overtook the GBP it was correctly reported in Euro's and now it's back to Euro amount in GBP since the GBP is stronger again. Why does that always happen with United transfers?

So a lot of ifs and buts. If he IS a top 5 striker TODAY, then by all means pay him. But I dont think he is even in the top 12-15 ATM.
It's a huge fee for someone noone considers among the top 5 strikers on the planet. He probably wouldn't make a top 10 either. We're paying for what we think he's about to become which is fair enough. I like his kind of player. But it's crucial that were right that he'll get to that level soon.

Funny enough the same could be said of Ibra at the same age and stage of his career. It will be up to Morata to make that leap.

I think tax is around 50% generally so double that and you get around 270k a week. Sounds about right for the starting striker at United.

At what club? I'd say he should be inline with Daniel Sturridge on around £150k. Gives him room for improvement. 270k considering he's done nothing as a number 1 striker would be insane.

It is a lot of money, but that is what we have to pay. Would people rather we signed nobody so they can rip Rashford to bits when we cannot score in a brothel. None of the elite strikers are now available. Griezmann was disappointing but we need goals. Think Morata will score plenty given regular starts and some people showing some faith in him. It will not all be on Morata. Some of our current players need to take a good look at their contributions as well.

I think they call it desperation since Griesmann kopped out. We need probably two strikers .. RM and Morata knows it.

There are ifs and buts in every transfer, and if he turns into a top 5 striker then he'll be on a lot more than 270k. Clubs don't pay young players for their current level at the exact point in time but also what they can likely achieve in the future.

I think you're confusing wages and transfer fees. The former doesnt work how you say. The latter, on the other hand, always works like how you say. You pay for the potential. But that doesnt mean you pay a prospect 250k in wages without them having proven themselves quite yet.

Which is why you pay the price when that happens. Young players can be nicked. £270k ain't making no big club twitch to match.

People keep saying we pay "over the odds" for players, but what are the odds? What everyone else can afford to pay? Last time I checked we smash everyone else into an oblivion in terms of income and we're the most valuable football club in the world. End of the day, paying £70m for Morata is equivalent to Arsenal or Chelsea paying £40-50m for someone. Once you realise what an effective pittance it is for us, in terms of being an easily manageable fraction of our stupendous income (thanks a lot, Iranian felt and Indonesia cow partners), paying more than anyone else starts to worry you less.

Cool signing. I am looking forward to see him play now. I think he will score a lot for us and become a very important player.

It can happen for wages too. Plus, Morata isn't just a prospect though, he's a good mix of someone who's had an excellent season, proven at CL and arguably internationally, and is on an upward trend. Morata was already on 160k (since we're talking about net) and he's already made a big leap this season, so him asking for an increase at the club with the highest revenue in the sport is not something that would make us raise our eyebrows, especially since someone who earns more than him playing at the same position is leaving.

But he hasn't signed yet. Lets not count our chickens before we see a tweet from United announcing an agreement.

Well i don't think we would be considered rude if we turned round and said are you Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Is he Really on 160k GBP? Real are worse than us with wages but the sounds of things.

Added PL games on Friday and the very really possibility of the ban being lifted on 3pm kick offs will allow room for growth. There's always another revenue.

Yeah, I think he will fit in nicely. People are being ridiculous overly scrutinizing his "average" goal scoring record not taking into affect he often played out wide and off the bench despite excellent contributions from both. We are getting a top class player in a good moment in his career, hungry to prove himself as a top level player. Good finisher, excellent all-round ability and potential to make other attacking players play a lot better.

Let's say if we can UCL QF, he will probably feature in at least 15 games across the cups and 30 league games as a starter I think he'll get around 25 goals and I think we will get a better output of the others too.

Strange to hate him. Very exciting player and has the potential to be world class. They should atleast give him a chance, because the deal is done. Good thing most of us see him as a good signing.
I haven't seen many say he is bad player, just a lot of money for someone who's stats don't match up, which I think is kind of fair enough. Only from what i have seen he fits the way we play, he is a good finisher with both feet and head, good hold up play, runs the channels, works back with the added benefit that he is pretty quick as well so he has everything, he just needs to prove it.

I think it is too much money but given the options available I would still want us to take the gamble and do it.

If we was talking Lukaku I would agree.

Why is it such a crime to call him the Spanish Danny Welbeck.. not being funny but Arsenal fans could have said the same thing you did, except add if we can keep him injury free.

Hope he realises his potential here, hope Mourinho can get some fight out of him too, he's going to have to be aggressive.

He's not Ibra and he's earning less as a result, but Ibra was also 34 when he signed. Morata's on 80k after tax at Real, so 160k net. Fans arguing about price (fee, wage, and everything else) is bizarre, as long as the club can afford it and doesn't put them at financial risk, who cares? A lot of times, prices reported by the media is not true or completely misrepresentative anyway.

You shouldn't say things like that, which clearly aren't true
