He'll create chances that Cazorla/Ramsey/Wilshere/Rosicky would have created. Don't get me wrong, he's a great footballer, but don't think they needed a lot in the creative midfield space.

Ozil's on another level altogether from the one's you mentioned.

Balague talking like it's already done and dusted to Arsenal. Oh well. Next...

It is done.

The most reliable and best informed German football magazine "kicker" already confirmed it. It would be an extremely rare mistake by them to jump the gun too early. That one is over.

He will play out wide, I reckon. Him, Cazorla, Walcott, Oxo can rotate amongst themselves. That's what Arsene needed, I guess.

I suppose Arsenal won't need Fabregas next season then. Oh well, looks like we'll have to accommodate him.

Credit to Arsenal, and this signing shows that in this market, you need to either pay up or feck off. By all accounts, Madrid were not interested in dealing on the cheap, and Ozil himself demanded a high salary. Reports also suggest he was initially unsure about joining Arsenal, yet they just went out and did what it took to get it done.

We're the most toothless big club in the market by some distance, expecting to do business with the currency of 'players must have a desire to play for United'. If we struggle on the field with Fergie gone, and do not add top quality, it will become even harder to attract top players. We are already more likely to lose out to London competition by virtue of players prefering to live in London.

It's actually possible that Madrid have lost out a better player than Bale on half the price.

Ozil at Arsenal is a terrific match. feck he's going to THE man there, loved by the fans, playing exciting football. Excellent signing.
Cazorla and Ozil creating is simply magnificent. What an exciting prospect.

They spent all summer trying for a striker and ended up getting yet another attacking midfielder.

He'll improve them but not as much as a striker of similar stature.

I don't believe it. Wenger spending that much money on player just doesn't compute.

Even worse that means we're no longer shit transfer window buddies with Arsenal.

It makes sense really. If you're going to spend big (fee & wages), might as well do it for someone like Ozil or Suarez rather than someone like say... Gustavo. Having Gustavo as your highest paid player would've been a bit silly whereas Ozil would comfortably be their best player and everyone at the club would be aspiring to be at his level. Great buy for them, and it'll be great to see him on these shores. Can't believe we weren't interested though.

feck this, with Ozil and Cazorla they could have Anichebe up front and would still score a lot.

It's just a massive statement of intent from Arse really. As we've sat around all Summer underbidding for players, they've decided to make Ozil the second most expensive PL transfer ever and seemingly haven't really tried to haggle with Madrid over it.

Different position, Bale will replace Di Maria while Ozil will be replaced by Isco who's amazingly good.

Good signing for Arsenal and the muppet in me would have loved him here. I was camped in the Ozil thread during the world cup hoping we'd get him. Having said that, he's not exactly what we need. Had we have sold Rooney, like we should have done, then we'd now be in a position to sign on the the best players going right now.

With the amount of chances Ozil and Cazorla will create, there's a decent chance Giroud will score 25+.

Ozil is the better player.

is he?

Bale was unbelievable last season, fair enough Ozil has had the better career so far but for the last year Bale has definitely been the better of the two and I think he's more talented as well, just a case of him staying fit.

I'd have crapped the bed if they had bought someone like Falcao/Suarez/Tevez/Cavani/Villa etc.

This will improve them, but more importantly, will get the fans off their back. Just look at how much Pete's giddy about this.

Are we all forgetting Arsenal's years of under-achievement, over-pricing for fans & laughable spending all because of one single deal? Jesus...

It should be US smashing our transfer record to sign a player that doesn't solve any of our readily apparent problems!!!!

For Real, Ozil was the better fit imo. They need someone to sit back and create for others, Bale wont do that. He'l be another Ronaldo in terms of style.

Just as individual players, its close but I'd still pick Ozil. Bale needs to repeat what he did last year as far as am concerned.

Considering we have the biggest stadium in England, won most titles and prize money and gone far most years in the CL, it's a shock our owners/Woody are not willing to spend money.

Wasn't Ozil the one who struggled to complete 90 minutes every game for Madrid? Good luck in England...

Are you embarrassed?
