I was one of those who actually said that, and I obviously stand corrected.
However, Van Persie was a steal at £24m to be fair so that kind of helped understand the reasoning in getting him. Ozil is different, we're talking £40m-£50m. We can't continue to hide or mask the shortage in midfield and spending that type of money won't help in the search for a midfielder I don't think.
I hope he choses Arsenal over PSG if true.

Ozil at Arsenal is a terrific match. feck he's going to THE man there, loved by the fans, playing exciting football. Excellent signing.
He'll create chances that Cazorla/Ramsey/Wilshere/Rosicky would have created. Don't get me wrong, he's a great footballer, but don't think they needed a lot in the creative midfield space.
Spare a thought for the Arsenal fans that may well be shitting a brick every time somebody posts a tweet about PSG trying to gazump the deal.

Ozil is one of the best attacking midfielders in the world, but I reckon Suarez would had done more for them than Ozil will.
