True. But there is the creativity to play through the middle from those players, and it would leave a lot of space for Rafael and Evra on the wings - not dissimilar to how Moyes Everton were set up at times in fairness (not all the time, I know!).

Aye there is man but you do need the space for those creative players to influence the game properly, that many central players just lets the opposition defend narrowly and makes it harder to break them down or exploit gaps in the defence. You want to stretch them out IMO so that gaps start to appear.

Personally I think if you have one immense number 10 the best way to go is to stretch the pitch and give that one player as much room to operate as possible.

That line up is really similar to City under Mancini and they struggled with that lack of width, which is why the City fans were so pleased with Navas as it was a clear problem that needed fixing.

Not sure we play with wide men anymore and the ones we have aren't doing the business anyway.

Yeah they have been dire, that's a separate issue though. Doesn't mean there is anything wrong with playing a proper winger, we should always have at least one I think.

Ozil-Kagawa-Nani would be better IMO and far more balanced

It won't happen lads... judging by what has happened this summer, one of the following things will happen

1) We won't offer enough money
2) We don't think he's suitable/good enough for us
3) Someone else will buy him
4) Woodward

Let's bring down those excitement levels.

I don't disagree was just suggesting a way that line up could work, and in some games it could IMO though obviously I wouldn't want to see it every week. I'd want Ozil to be the central one in such a system too if we were to actually pull this deal off....

'Working hard'...

If I had to choose between Herrera and Özil, I'd go for Herrera... but only because having Cleverley and Anderson as 'options' scares me.

I am told #MUFC definitely NOT in for Mesut zil. Working hard on deals for Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera. #DeadlineDay

Everyone's got a point of view today.

I'd rather have Fellaini & Herrera than Just Ozil, that being said, if we had to have 1 of the 3... the best player is Ozil, the best for our team probably the Fellaini/Herrera so either way it's not that bad.

"Working hard"...god we have a good bunch of hard workers there behind the scenes, always working hard and achieving feck all.

One is a good player, the other is a world class player. It's not even a debate.

We're not Chelsea, lads, we're not going to have 14 attacking midfielders.

No but we do have a world class player who's comfortable in Özil's position (Rooney) and a promising one (Kagawa) whereas our options in CM are all inferior to Herrera, bar Carrick.

I'd honestly prefer Herrera, even though he's a level or two below, we just need him more.

makes me think more of a scholes type of player, we have Kagawa and Rooney who can do the Ozil job.

And Caf cocks droops simultaneously.....

Not really. The two deals we are apparently 'working hard' on are the ones we really need most. We can get Ozil at 10pm tonight if there's anything left in the piggy bank.

 Of course it is! Jesus.

We need a centre more than any thing else right now, that actually isn't up for debate.

If we miss out on Ozil we still have Rooney and Kagawa to play behind Van Persie, if we miss out on Herrara we need to play Cleverley/Anderson next to Carrick.

I'd hazard a guess and say BBC source is Jan Aage Fjortoft who is close to the Özil camp. He was asked if he could confirm the United link and answered that he only know of Arsenal link at this point.

My ideal scenario for today would be Herrera & Ozil, or Fellaini and Ozil...

I don't think we have enough creativity in our squad as it stands, and neither Fellaini or Herrera adequately fill that gap.

Sort of (in Rooney's case anyway). Couldn't think of two more different players in Rooney and Ozil, so if the manager wants what Ozil brings to a team ( a ridiculous supply of chances created centrally), Rooney is not a competitor for that. Shinji is though, and signing Ozil this morning will result in Shinji being gone by the evening I reckon.

Herrera is more creative than anything we have. Him, Rooney & Nani (fit) would be more than enough.

Why? Do we seriously need Ozil!? No, we have two perfectly good #10's. We need CM's, Herrera would make much more sense.

He's an upgrade in that position on our 2 AMs, Rooney is better as a striker, Kagawa is in the tier below Ozil. I'm not entirely sold on Herrera.

Sky Sports on site journalist has just Manchester United have said we're not in for him. So Ozil is over
