We would. But it could be someone solid rather than a gifted playmaker like fabregas, and those are hard to find. The world is full of gifted ams rather than CMs who will do playmake as part of a 2 man midfield.
I don't think this is going to happen, but it's going to have to take more than Marca to guarantee it.

I agree. In the past years we kept losing technically gifted players without adequately replacing them. Ronaldo left while Giggs and Scholes grew old. The players we've brought are nowhere near to their talent. Valencia, Ando, Young etc.
However our CM is too weak to remain ignored and must therefore be given first priority. n

We currently have 2 players in our squad you could label as "creative players" (Shinji and Nani)... away from those two, you have Rooney and Giggs who can sometimes conjure something up, but not consistantly.

True. But there is the creativity to play through the middle from those players, and it would leave a lot of space for Rafael and Evra on the wings - not dissimilar to how Moyes Everton were set up at times in fairness (not all the time, I know!).
I felt an odd tinge of happiness when I thought Wenger had pulled this one out the hat. I was looking forward to him saying "supreme technical qualities" and getting a player his coaching deserves.
