The latter 2 shouldn't be a reason to pass on one of the greatest AM's in the world and like I said in another thread Ozil, Rooney and Kagawa would be a great setup just behind RvP.
Not better than Giggs, Young and Valencia IMO.

Unbelievable how some on here think Ozil (who has the highest assists across all top leagues in the last 3 years) wouldn't be a top class signing for our midfield.

Maybe we can get Osman!

This is bloody depressing.

Arsenal having a better window than us shameful. The only way we'll top them is if Cesc changes his mind and we bag him for £40m on Deadline Day.
Has anyone had a worse one so far? Good as Varela may be

Out of Arsenal and us, it's them who are signing a brilliant midfielder?

I may cry.

Mata and Ozil would be frightening. Stop chasing Everton players for feck sake. There is world class talent on the market!

If i hear that we rejected the offer of taking Ozil then i'm gonna be seriously angry....
Just heard on Onda Cero that he chose Arsenal over United as they offered him €7m annually opposed to United's €5m, which is more or less what he's on at Real Madrid.

A clamour for Ozil reminds me of all the disappointment in 2006 when Chelsea signed Ballack, Shevchenko and Cole and West Ham signed Tevez and Mascherano and we "only" signed Carrick. We signed in an area we needed strengthening and went after Senna and Hargreaves which would also have been an improvement. For me, you prioritise the areas you need strengthen the areas that are essential and have been neglected.

Our central midfield situation reminds me of when we suddenly sold Jaap and had to overpay for Rio in 2002. It's a situation mainly of our creation.

It can be considered as an area to improve with our lack of creativity up front solely relying on RVP's magic in many matches. It's not like there's nothing to strengthen from a creativity POV, CM is more important for sure but still some players are too good to miss out on.

Since we are intent on not using Kagawa and putting Giggs in his position. The difference between Ozil and Giggs in this formation is... well, don't even get me started.

Remember we have signed Zaha last season , who Sir Alex wanted, but Moyes doesn't want to play. Would rather play, Young, Valencia and old man Giggs, who can't cross a ball between them.

And the rumor is he chose Arsenal over Man Utd, because Arsenal offered 7m a year, compared to our 5m a year.

I think I may cry.

You wait until some Sheik buys us for a couple of billion, this will all change. I do get the impression we are cash strapped.

Except it hasn't.

it has has been for a long time. lots of creativity no one to finish it off. When they do have the players to finish it off they sell them. Henry/RVP

Giroud is fine and van Persie and Henry were there for a long time.

If this is true, a big if I mean, then really the guys who are in charge of negotiating transfers at Utd are weirdos. It seems to be too stupid to be true.

Wouldn't be at all surprising considering we're tight as feck at the moment. I've got an idea, sell a few of our players, and make room for him.

Man, this is sad news. I want this fecker.

Twitter is saying that he chose Arsenal because they offered €7 million a year while we offered €5 million. Cadena Ser seems to be the source.

Does anyone know if that would have made him the highest paid if he had come to United?

It's been 3/4 games - 3 difficult ones at that under a new manager with a few injuries and a difficult situation with Rooney. I very much doubt Giggs will be ahead of Kagawa this season.

 just when I thought Woodward couldn't possibly do a worse job.

Out waged by Arsenal would be pretty bad. I'd even lean towards the "embarrassing" zone.

I don't really get us. We want to play 4231 but don't want to play Kagawa who's a perfect fit for it, would rather use Giggs. Giggs clearly isn't good enough to be a regular anymore. We get offered Ozil, possibly one of the 3 best #10s in Europe and we... turn him down.

For 2 fecking million a year. It could be bullshit, but it wouldnt surprise me. 2 fecking million in the grand scheme of things in pennies. 5M is just less than 100k a week. A player of his class deserves more than that.

I'm pretty sure he will. I will be shocked if Kagawa starts 15 games in the league this season.

Wengers after match comments compared to Moyes' after match comments confirms this tbh.

Wenger - We need that special player and may pay over the value if need be

Moyes - I'm happy with the squad.

We can't be that stupid that we'd be offering 45m Euros in fees but only 5m Euros annually. I'm sorry but that doesn't make sense.

We spent £65m last season and we were willing to pay in excess of 30 for a teenager, we also apparently have the highest paid player in the league in Wayne Rooney. We're not cash strapped, that may have been truer just after Ronaldo left but we've spent a lot recently, our problem is that we've got a new chief executive and we're being so public about things. We've probably always put in low initial offers and also often been unwilling to match wage demands, the difference is that a lot of our negotiating has been done in public this year and so everyone knows when it's the case.

Never said they are the only players we should be looking to sign. Fellaini won't solve our problems either. Add him in our midfield today, the game doesn't change.

Oh but it will sell wigs, the Glazers would never overlook a business opportunity. Probably get us a wig sponsor now.

We don't need Ozil. We needed a Fabregas type who could play centre mid and we didn't get him. Ozil going to Arsenal though is scarcely believable.

Yeah I call bollocks. We couldn't possibly offer Ozil less having in mind what Young for example gets. And Arsenal offering bigger wage than us seems even more ridiculous.
