Just to be clear here. Unless Ozil is proposing to take a wage cut those 5m/7m Euro offers are after tax. You're looking at 9.5/13m Euros pre tax.

Well done to Arsenal if they get him. They'll treat him well.

As for us not being that keen, well as has been said before in the thread. We've got a better goalscoring #10 in Rooney and a #10 we don't use in the role in Kagawa. Maybe he would have been a luxury signing - though personally I'd have been happy with that.

I think the problem here isn't that we're not signing him, it's that Arse are :D

Let's lend Jones to Arsenal; then he can accidentally kill their squad in training.

Must say, absolutely great as he is, I'll understand if we dont buy him for 42mil as long as we actually go out and spend on a top CM.

Here's another Moyes classic (paraphrasing)... "I've been told there isn't a budget, we will identify the best players and go for them."

Ladies and gentleman ... Marouanne Fellaini (maybe).

You can't have too many top class players. We don't have enough.

I somewhat agree.

De Gea - great
Rafael - great
Vidic - great
Ferd - fine
Evra - fine
Valencia - Not good enough on current form. Would he get into any of Europe's top teams? I don't think so.
Carrick - great
Cleverley - Not good enough for us. Would he get into any of Europe's top teams? I don't think so.
Young - Just get rid
Rooney - great
RvP - great

Question marks also over Anderson, Fletcher, Nani, Kagawa etc. We know what our best defence is. We know who our best forwards are. Yet the midfield is just a mess and Ozil would improve it.

Someone go slap Woodward. Hard. Can we just go bid 80m for Ronaldo, and ask Nike for some cash up front from the sponsorship?

Martinez/Vidal are not available. Herrera and Felliani are. Herrera is no Fabregas but he's much better to the players we've got. Felliani is no Vidal but the guy's got that Keano's bad loser's attitude, he knows his limits and he's fecking strong. Both players are still young and can improve.

Ozil is a great player but we're no PSG. We work on a budget. Currently our budget isnt enough to sign what we need. In few words Id rather see us get what we need rather then spend the dosh on a luxury signing.

I completely agree. As I said I have been asking for a midfielder for some years now, and I think that this should have addressed a long ago.

Anyway if Moyes/Woody think that there isn't value on the market (this has become a joke) for whatever reason and don't want to sign a midfielder, I wouldn't be against the signing of Ozil. If it is either Ozil or Herrera I would have opted for Herrera (although he isn't as good as Ozil), but if we are not signing a midfielder anyway, than I think Ozil would be a good addition. Similarly, if we have the budget to sign Herrera and Ozil, it would be great.

He may not score as many as Rooney but I'm convinced he'd set up 20+ assists for RVP and would be a better fit for the role behind him. Also he could play wide as a playmaker rather than relying heavily on traditional wingers for creativity.

I think our struggle to unlock the door today against Liverpool has me even more convinced that he'd be an excellent acquisition.

Great signing by Arsenal if it's true. He'll be their main player and would be one of the top players in England.

But we didn't really need RvP either, did we?

When a player becomes available that will improve your team, then you have to be in for him and going balls out to get them IMO.

We did. We were too reliant on Rooney, Kagawa and Rooney can't start in the same team and you want Ozil too?

Sickeningly good signing by Arsenal.

This is so shit. Why did Arsenal suddenly decide they want to spend money on players? Who let them fecking do that to me?

I suddenly have this feeling that this quote is similar to your average Joe in the street who walks past a Lamborghini in the street, and says to his mate next to him " I am always looking for the nicest cars", but then turns out to be speaking shit and either settles for nothing or a Ford Fiesta Fellaini

Nothing wrong with Fords - they're sensible buys that know how to get from A to B without too much fannying around and the running costs are very reasonable.

:(

If its true we've said we don't want Ozil over those wages, I have to say I'd be quite gutted. Not necessarily the player we need, but he's an amazing footballer and you don't turn down top players over a wage that seemed like a fair demand given his record.

And this isn't a muppet desperate for a SIGNING...this is assuming our manager wanted Ozil!

Agreed. He'll take them to another level, I guess if they can keep their players fit they'll be up there.

Having said it's Arsenal, they were certs to sign Higuain, Suarez etc at one moment, so I'm taking this with a pinch of salt.

As good as Ozil is, they need a top striker and good defenders more. He isn't going to suddenly propel them back to title challengers.

Seeing as we're too slow to react, I hope PSG or Monaco snatch up from under Arsenal's noses.

Can't believe we're being left behind like this. City did the exact same thing when they won the league. We can't be complacent. Every team around are buying up world class talent which will enhance their squad, while we fail bid after bid.

Great signing by Arsenal. Obviously I would have preferred if he came to us but I'm looking forward to seeing him in the premier league every week if this is true

So if your colleagues were all buying Ferraris and lamborghinis, and you bought a Ford, you would be happy?

Well done to Arsene if they get him...a great signing for them, and for the amount of shit he gets, I really hope it leads them to 2nd (behind us obvs)
