You're probably right. Who needs tenacious hardworkers like Ince and Keane when you can rely on Jones and Cleverley.

Defensive positioning and anticipation is more important than 'steel', to be fair. We have that in Carrick.

Edit: Never mind, actually. Reading your posts I don't think I disagree with the general point. We seriously need cover for Carrick at this point; not signing such a player would be perhaps the most negligent thing I've seen us do in the transfer market.

He'd be a great signing for any club and the muppet in me would be drooling at the thought of Ozil, Rooney and Kagawa tucked in behind RvP but its too good to be true.

No, don't get me wrong mate, I am one of those who have cried for a midfielder for more than 2 years. But, I would have preferred much more a midfielder capable of sending the ball forward and linking our midfield/defense with attack (by not passing to wingers every single time) than a midfielder who is good at winning the ball. Martinez/Vidal would have been perfect cause they're great at both, but there aren't such available players in the market now. For that, I would prefer much more to get Herrera instead of Fellaini, even if that mean that we have to pay more.

Anyway, to Ozil thread. He's great, isn't him?

I agree with that, though Ozil would be a great signing for us. Considering that Nani and Valencia have both been out of form for a season, Giggs is a hundred years old, Young is a bit shit, Welbeck has a stellar performance for every 5 bad/average ones and Moyes doesn't know that Kagawa is actually a United player, Ozil would come here as a starter and instantly be one of our best players.

Seriously, I am one of the biggest Kagawa's fanboys here but I think that Ozil is on another level. Wouldn't say no to him, regardless that we're well stocked there. At worst case, he should get the games of Young/Giggs which means that he would play 90 minutes for every game.

He'll cost us 40m. First priority should be given to CM. FFS Carrick's cover/competition is a bloody defender.

I am not a Kagawa fan boy but I acknowledge that Kagawa/Rooney can do the job in the link man role. Valencia, Nani, Zaha, Young and Giggs can do the same on the flanks.

What you are saying makes perfect sense. Those that think otherwise simply want to add a name or prevent a rival from getting him.

If it was De Rossi, I would be all in favour of pushing the boat out, despite his age.

Do not want. Wouldn't wow me. I watch La Liga regularly; obviously he's a good player, but a bit hit n miss a lot of the time...not sure what he would give us that Kagawa can't. Just not sure he'd be that good in the PL, a bit 1 dimensional for me.
(Obviously other part of me hopes we do sign him and I am proved completely wrong, but cynically I guess there's a reason RMadrid would be ok to sell him...)

Martinez/Vidal are not available. Herrera and Felliani are. Herrera is no Fabregas but he's much better to the players we've got. Felliani is no Vidal but the guy's got that Keano's bad loser's attitude, he knows his limits and he's fecking strong. Both players are still young and can improve.

Ozil is a great player but we're no PSG. We work on a budget. Currently our budget isnt enough to sign what we need. In few words Id rather see us get what we need rather then spend the dosh on a luxury signing.

I always rated De Rossi. However you take an ageing, injury prone Serie A player at your own peril

Kagawa isn't though, because Moyes hasn't played him.

The simple fact is he is more talented than any of our players, except RVP.

We need more quality, he is it and available at a decent price.

If I could see where he would start regularly in the team, I would agree. If Rooney had gone, I would say yes please.

Agree with this.

Obviously I would take him but improving other areas of the team is more vital at the moment.

I agree that midfield is prio but if we have the cash we should sign Ozil.

- - Carrick - -Fellaini - -
Ozil - Rooney - Kagawa
- - - - V.Persie - - - -

How sexy would that be. Nani aside our wingers are mediocre as feck, we shouldn't be resolving our gameplay around them imo. I know it won't happen, we will probably play Young and Giggs 30 odd times this season and Kagawa can't even are the bench but one could dream.

See this said too often that we should prioritize on other areas of the pitch. We clearly aren't doing a very good job of it though. If this guy is available we should be after him. Worry about who will be left out later. He's a good as it gets when it comes to offensive playmakers.

Ozil, Cazorla and Walcott playing behind the striker aint a bad thing to have at all. Lucky bastards.

Al Jazeera reporting he's off to the Gunners for €47m.

He's definately off before Tuesday, I bet we will regret this. :(

would love that, Valencia and rafael could compete for the RB spot, but it makes too much sense for us sorry, he's going Arsenal

I hope it's not to Arsenal. I've grown slightly fond of them in their old age and this would make them a much tougher force to come up against.

Who'd win in a staring contest out of Moyes and Ozil?

They'd both eventually morph into their natural selves - which both happen to be Gollum. Draw.

If i hear that we rejected the offer of taking Ozil then i'm gonna be seriously angry....

Well he is not exactly gonna say i want to leave, plus the fact Bale has now signed changes the whole dynamics for the likes of Di Maria and Ozil.

Hang on hang on, this is all very de-ja vu on Fabregas....don't do it to yourself

I don't get you guys turning your nose up at Ozil yet the feeling is we have struggled to break down Chelsea and Liverpool, needing more creativity.

I get the fact we need a pure CM but if we can't get that player then strengthen where possible.
