Nani instead of Rooney is wankworthy as well. Do it.

Muppet free flowing heaven! Nani, Chicha, Welbeck, Valencia as back up too. Would be brilliant! Rafael and Evra for width, Rooney and Ozil can do it too.

Ozil scores about 1 in 3 for his country (same as Kagawa actually) ... so he clearly can find the net, not sure why he doesn't do it with such regularity at Madrid (Actually... it's probably because at Madrid they have very defined goalscorers in the team, where as at Germany they all seem to chip in... or something).

I'll go out on a limb and say that it's because he'll never face the likes of Azerbaijan, Faroe Islands, San Marino, and Andorra, playing for Madrid. He's also scored a few penalties for Germany. The chances of him taking a penalty ahead of Ronaldo for Madrid are probably slimmer than the chances of us signing either of them.

I seem to remember Peter Crouch having an excellent strike rate for England at one point.

He might not have played for England for 3 years (although I had to check Wikipedia as I wouldn't know that he hasn't been involved for a while, who really watches that garbage?), but his strike rate is still 22 in 42. Better than 1 in 2.

He scored 1 goal vs Azerbaijan and 2 vs Faroe Islands, the rest came against decent teams.

'Just been sent this, is there any truth in it or is it more Facebook bullshit?

Mesut Özil advisers and his father are in Manchester United closing the deal with United for Ozil for around 40 million euros #MUFC [el confidencia]

Nothing much, we're just at the placing players in fantasy formation stage now.

Nothing is happening. Ozil's agent has supposedly alerted clubs of his client's availability and with us needing a CM, which he isnt, its a case of 2+2=5, hurrah, lets discuss how to best utilize him in our team.

cheers guys :)

Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil has confirmed he will be staying at the club after being linked with moves to Arsenal and Manchester United. Ozil has been signing shirts at the club shop at the Santiago Bernabeu when he was asked about his future.

So no actual quotes?

He was never going to go. Madrid fans love his kind of player who plays with such elegance and ease. The president would probably have gotten shit from the fans in the next elections!

It does mention his father and advisers being in Manchester but, given what Ozil has said and the fact that there are lots of suggestions that we turned him down weeks ago, it's very unlikely to be true.

So no actual quotes?
The German playmaker had been a subject of to interest to Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester United, but now has directly stated that he has no intentions of leaving the Spanish capital.

"Yes, I want to be very successful with Real Madrid," he told reporters at the Bernabeu. "The media has been written too much, and whilst it is said in the press that there are many teams interested in me, I say that I have a contract and I will stay at Real Madrid."

"I'm fine, until 2016 I have a contract. I have a very good understanding with my team-mates and for me is a pleasure and an honor to play in this team.

The Merengues have started the season strongly under new boss Carlo Ancelotti with a pair of wins in La Liga, whilst Ozil also noted his reverence for club assistant coach and sporting director Zinedine Zidane.

"We are happy now, as we won both games. It's true that we have to play better and we still have much to improve."

"Zidane has been my idol and now part of the team that trains us. When I first saw him in Madrid I was very nervous. He's an extraordinary person who supports and helps everybody."

We were never gonna get him anyway. I reckon Moyes is keeping it simple this season and signing(attempting anyway) players he knows can perform in the premiership.

Yeah saw that afterwards as the actual links with quotes were only posted after my post :)

As much as the WUM's are funny for a second or two, it gets a bit cheesy when so many try to be funnier than the last.

I am embarrassed.

Another disappointment. Is Fellaini the standard of player we are now going to get? I don't mind us getting him, but I would have wanted another better player as well. It's all a but underwhelming.

Ozil for £40m or Kagawa at no cost, makes total sense to me. We don't need him.

It is kinda obvious we only targeted 2 midfielders, our first option was Fabregas and now Fellaini,

Any other players linked is probably means by the agent/player to extort a bigger contract from their respective clubs!

I think this is the case.
With Rooney staying for at least this season, it means United are well stocked in the AM and wide positions and it is quite clear Moyes wants at least a year to assess the top 4 positions before he decides it may need improvement, and then decide who to ship out.
The midfield positions was quite clearly the priority in this transfer window, as that's where United lack in depth and high quality.

For a club of our size and scouting network that is a remarkably short shortlist.

Ayee agree with that, or Rooney

We already have two quality number 10's

We will have to hope Rooney can be arsed and no one dares piss him off again and that Kagawa isn't sat on the bench all season. How long before Wayne complains about the standard of signings we are making/not playing where he wants/wages the list could be endless with him?
