£40m for Ozil | Deal to Arsenal confirmed

it seems like we can't bid higher than £30m for players

Yep, Daily Star says there's been a £30m offer, so there almost certainly has been... ;)

Seriously, it drives me up the wall seeing people still taken in by transfer rumours after this summer! How can anyone see a rumour, a figure or anything by now without immediately thinking "that's almost certainly absolute bollocks.."?

Especially with something like this... The Daily Star. I don't know how someone can take any story from such a paper seriously. It's like an even shitter version of The Sun, with there being about as much chance of truth coming from that paper as there is from someone on here.

So many #United fans asking about Özil that despite the abuse I got for reporting the club's market earlier this summer, here's what I know

Graham Hunter‏@BumperGraham10m
#Özil not happy at the threat of Isco and #Bale to his place. Özil's father is actively seeking to place him in the Prem. #United

Graham Hunter‏@BumperGraham10m
#Özil however an initial approach to #United one week ago, brought no encouragement at all. Don't know if that has changed, but doubt.

For what it's worth I think #Özil has become a sensational footballer, much tougher, under JM.

For thoughts on Özil to Man Utd, check @BumperGraham 's tl. Tallies 100% with what I've been told

Looks like United are not interested. With Rooney probably staying and Kagawa here, it's understandable.

That's interesting it fits in with the context of the reports I talked about from Spain.

If Ozil's people are looking for options for him, that's why the reporters would be talking about Madrid being prepared for a bid. As I said when I wrote about them, I could certainly see them knowing the Madrid end of the story, but I doubted that they knew United's own real intentions.

I guess we'll all know United's intentions, or lack of, in a few days time.

Aren't your the guy who believes in aliens on earth?

UFOs. That is off the back of actual experiences with other people and not what some toilet paper of a newspaper says! I am not going to discuss that any further on this forum mind you, though if you would like a PM chat about the subject then feel free.

It stands, regardless. When you look at the amount of shite that's been published over the summer regarding Thiago, Rooney, Fabregas, etc...it just becomes such a fool's game to believe the tabloids and Twitter. I can't believe how many outright lies there have been - it's been about 10 times worse than usual.

Gentleman, you had my curiosity, but now you have my attention.

What thread do we find such stories? im actually quite interested.

No they were not; that was a spiritual type of experience and not the same thing - it is not unheard of for such experiences to be triggered by dissociative substances and hallucinogenics. On the contrary, it has been known for thousands of years. All four of us were sober on the night I will refer to (if anyone ever wants to ask via PM like I say), and two of whom have never touched anything barring alcohol. In fact, one of them is a lot more pessimistic, rational and a hell of a lot smarter than anyone I have argued with here about this subject.

Anyway, this is a fecking Ozil thread. Can we at least loosely relate this to him and say he looks like an alien or something? Otherwise everything's going to turn into one retarded, point scoring, passive aggressive mess like it used to do.

KE7, do you consider yourself very intelligent?

I don't think Ozil's this special talent that's too good to turn down myself. I'd still love to see us sign him if Nani or Rooney leave, of course, but he's getting put on a level here he's never reached never mind stayed at consistently, IMO.

His talent level is huge though, plus he's only 24. He's already one of the best AM in the world and I wouldn't be surprised if we got more out of him than Real did.

You don't think he's up there with the Spanish equivalents, then?

Ozil looking like an alien? I've always just presumed somebody has slipped me some ketamine every time I've seen him... nobody can really look like that can they?

No, I regularly come up across people I feel extremely inferior to in a creative, practical and intellectual sense. There are people on here like that, actually (without sucking up, people like Plechazunga, apotheosis, Raoul, etc...). I say that about the guy in that post because it's like you become sort of retarded thicko as soon as you begin to deviate from what is seen as acceptable. In reality - and my friend is an example - there are highly intelligent people who have previously been very skeptical about certain topics that have had certain experiences sufficiently compelling enough to change their outlook. People are so rigid though so as to assume you must either be insane, a drug addict or a complete moron to believe in the existence of such things. It's so lazy and cliche.

I genuinely believe that anyone that thinks a UFO has visited earth at any point is retarded, because if you think about the science, the probability and basically every factor that could conceivably be thought of then the likelihood is so small to be almost impossible.

That's being extremely short sighted don't you think? It's good to have an open mind. Remember, it's better to be a 'retard' then an asshole. To get the tread back on topic, Ozil maybe one of them :)

If Madrid really want rid of Ozil, and we've said no at a £40m deal (which probably hasn't happened anyway), it makes sense. £40m for someones scraps (albeit quality scraps) is poor business.

But with the likely stay of Rooney, Kagawa, Januzaj and Welbeck to some extent, we've no real need for Ozil so it's difficult to be disappointed or butthurt about any deal being rejected. I'll hold my grudges against Sir Alex and his lack of a bid in 2010.

The way I see it is he is way better at the left of a front three than any you have named an ideal replacement for Mr Giggs IMO.

I don't see any of them including as a genuine left-sided player of a front three. That's another issue altogether.

All are best as central or as free as possible

Of all the footballers to discuss Aliens in he's probably the best.

Him or Obertan, you decide.
