    It is soul destroying watching a set of players, 99% of whose output is dreadful. I don't think any of these players have a future at Utd, the awfulness parasite that affects Utd players has taken hold of them now, there is no way back.
     
    Out attack just dies as soon as it gets to the left side... Dalot either shoots(and misses) or passes it backwards.
     
    Toti dominating at the back, Hojlund and our attackers facing him have found no way past

    We had more of the ball and 2 more shots, but it felt about 50/50 with our leftback having most of our shots

    We definitely have a squad better than this. Its very slow and disjointed.
    At the risk of being criticised I prefer Zirkzee than Hojlund at this moment in our transition.

    Hojlund is the finisher after the system works. Zirkzee is a player who can help knit a system together.
     
    After the Bournemouth game Mainoo shouldn't have started this game

    Has Casemiro pissed off the manager? His partnership with Ugarte was very good under Ruud
     
    Garnacho needs to come on soon. Put Amad back at wing-back.

    Also, Mainoo and Ugarte together won't ever be the long-term solution in the middle for us. The duel winning and progressive passing are nowhere near the level required. If we could get a new midfielder who's great at both, we would solve a lot of issues the team currently has. Problem though is that those players are rare and pretty expensive.
     
    the only difference between Utd and Wolves is that Wolves pay way, way less to play shit football.
     
    I don't like this defensive turn we have taken since Rashy & Garnacho were banished to the doghouse. We have gone from 4 attackers to three & it shows as neither Dalot nor Maz make very good attacking impact. And it's not that we have become defensively more solid. Need to go back to Amad at RWB & have another pacey attacker play as a #10.

    Both of them have midfields far better than ours.

    2 of Villa's 3 were free in recent seasons and the other available in the summer. It's ridiculous really.
     
    The gap in quality between our trios on the left and on the right is huge.

    Mazraoui, Ugarte and Amad manage to link and use the ball very well and make good decisions. Dalot, Bruno and Mainoo seem to constantly make the wrong decisions and look much less fluid.

    The players that don’t fit this system stick out like a sore thumb.

    Today is one of the few days I feel the Hojlund lack of service is actually true but he had a few moments at the end of the half where I feel he could’ve done better.
     
    That was a hideous first half to endure, even by our standards. Need to scrape a win, somehow. Surely the coaching staff can see how slow we are and lacking of ideas in the final third? I know the players are poor but they can all offer more, as we’ve seen it in the past at some point or another.
     
    What has happened to Kobie Mainoo? He runs like he has lead in his boots. There is little spark, not much about him at all. I always felt the need to give him time as many were getting carried away. But he needs to buck up a little bit.

    Ugarte and Rasmus look quite average.... man, these players need to get a grip, this manager is clear-headed and will not suffer fools gladly. Good to see Maguire, who suits a back three. Dalot is our best player, all-round, reliable.
     
    That was definately a step back in terms of eye test. Even Amad seemed to turn off around 30 minutes in.
    Expecting De Ligt, Garnacho and probably Casemiro to come on later on.
    Hoping for a half-time intervention here, cause this needs to change…
     
    Amad going to far wide, Mazraoui ans him are in the same position, Mainoo looks Rusty, Hojlund getting too involved in WWE, Bruno always trying silly passes, Dalot despite what others have said has done well but we lack a left footer to cross from there, not been impressed with Yoro at all but is still young.

    Ugarte and Onana best players for us, on another note Cunha looks solid.

    Hope to see Garnacho, De Ligt and Zirkzee get on to try and change it up
     
    Very boring game. Good possession control by us but unable to do anything to break then down and always open to conceding a random goal.

    Maybe he is and maybe he won't make it here but on the odd occasion he isn't thrown to the ground or wrestling and he manages to control it he has nobody to lay it off to. To big of a gap between him and the rest of the team for me anyway.
     
    Real lack of quality in that half, Cunha aside, barely passes as a premier league game. We started off ok but gradually got worse and looked nervy towards the end.

    I don’t know what’s happened to Mainoo, looks way short of the player from last season. Yoro has struggled and Amad is getting pushed back a lot too, game looks too physical for them both.

    All in all, not many positives in that half!

    Ugarte has been fine. But yeah, we keep signing players that can’t run.
     
    At least kept a clean and didn't concede from a set piece. Gladly take a 1-0 win right now but hard to see where the United goal will come from.
     
    Would put Zirkzee on for Hojlund, Garnacho on for Yoro, push Mazraoui back and Amad to RWB. Before long also take off Mainoo for one of Eriksen or Casemiro. Just not enough good attackers to change a game for us.

    A back 3 very very easily becomes a back 5 if you're not careful.

    There's a reason so few clubs get it to work.

    People say it's nothing to do with the formation, but think about how RVN had us playing a few weeks ago and tell me this is in anyway better.

    It "might" look better by this time next season "if" we get the right players in, but lose this one, and you start wondering whether we could fall even further than we have already. You don't just get a free year to get things looking good.
     
    Dull and boring game so far. Edinburgh derby from earlier today was a far more entertaining game to watch than this.
     
    Yeah think I'm off the Rasmus hype train.

    Additionally, Mazraoui is technically good but has no engine to get up and down as a wingback. Dalot has the engine but is useless on the left, ideally he'd be RWB if we had a left back.

    Our 3 CBs do not really step into midfield or take risks and our CMs tend to stay in their positions so we end up with this huge gap between the front 3 and the players behind them. Which I imagine is to keep us solid until we reach the opposition's box but ends up leaving us toothless. Bruno then kinda comes into central positions but not really, Amad stays out wide but Mazraoui doesn't underlap much so again that gap in the middle attacking 3rd behind Rasmsu is just vacant.

    Mainoo really shouldn't be playing in this formation, he is not suited to the CM or CAM position.

    I think these players are doing what they can, but they're just not very good. They're up against better players who are more technically gifted and more athletic, so it's difficult. Many of the United players out there can't even do the basics very well.
