A win would be good. Those peaky Scousers are now right behind us.
Those wins don’t count remember.5th on the away form table
7W-2D-0L against the bottom-11
Yeah. How the hell did that happen? Losing 7-0 to them probably helped.A win would be good. Those peaky Scousers are now right behind us.
Leave the thread, no place for logic or facts here. We lost a match so everything is shit and the club is a joke.
Sorry. Would it have helped if I had posted that we are 11W-2D-3L in our last 16 matches against this supposed "game raising bogey team" and 6W-2D-1L against Moyes' West Ham (the 1 loss being an early round league cup match where we had Bailly & Telles in defense, Matic, Mata and Van de Beek in MF and Lingard at RW )
It’s only natural to acknowledge the likelihood of a tough away game coming at a time when we’re struggling for goals a bit. It’s not as if posters on a forum can do anything about it but Liv are only a point behind us now.Anything goes really as long as you don’t display positive or optimistic attitude.
It surprising how many seem to judge team quality by looking at the table alone. X is above Y so X will win. It’s only natural to acknowledge the likelihood of a tough away game coming at a time when we’re struggling for goals a bit. Being gloomy won’t solve it but when I see posts saying “we’ll smash em” or stats about how many away games we’ve won and how many games West Ham have lost, it makes me wonder if people actually watch the football matches.
What I wouldn't give for a convincing 90 minute performance tomorrow.

Yes but we can’t score at the moment. A few months ago we were playing great and people even started to dream about a title challenge. It’s not like that now. The lack of goals is a problem but also the complete lack of quality at times. We did okay in the first half against Brighton but the second half was bordering on terrible and most wouldn’t have complained if they scored via whatever means - it’s reaching a bit to blame an unlucky penalty.Regarding the bolded part. There’s that and then there’s overreacting to a result. Quite often without actually even taking the performance into account. I can guarantee that it we hadn’t conceded that penalty, the mood and posts would’ve been very different. Yeah I get the difference between a point and no points, but in a bigger picture, that penalty doesn’t change the performance one bit.
I don’t have that much confidence in us either that I’d say we’ll smash them. Haven’t seen many claim that seriously either though. I think presenting such stats is actually really good for the discussion. It gives some much needed perspective and non-emotional objective thought and insight in a discussion filled with fear and despair.
It doesn’t mean that the poster of those stats or myself would be super confident of a 5-0 win either but I think that kind of balance is more than welcome here. None of us said, if I’m not mistaken, that ”look at those stats, we’ll beat them easily.” It’s more about giving perspective and showing the facts for what they are. I think it is more than valid to point out that we’ve done well away against bottom 10 sides, as we’re, you know, facing a bottom 10 side away.

But hey, I don’t want to be a misery guts. The rational position is: tough game coming, a point might not be a bad outcome, especially if it comes with a better performance.
Yeah, wise words.I'm not blaming the penalty. Just saying that if everything went exactly how it went but that penalty never happened = same exact performance, the reaction would've been very different. Second half was not good enough but one could argue that as you said in a good first half we could've scored a few too. Meaning the performance wasn't as bad as you read on this forum.
Anyway I've made a promise to myself not to enter match day threads from 1,5hrs before kickoff, just for my mental health and sanity. Looks like I need to adjust that to 24 hours before as we're moving towards the end of the season
I'm at the win with a jammy 1-0 deflection stage.
Any way to get 3 points.
Just need to win
That won’t happen. Now watch this game raising cnuts play us off the park.
No where near as good. The problem is West Ham are managed by Moyes with a huge chip on his shoulder, it will be anti football tactics and the blowing bubbles crowd will roaring their heads off with every challenge. They aren't nearly as good as Brighton though, are they? I expect we will see much more of the ball and create chances. Whether that means we won't eventually sh*t the bed is another thing altogether
I hear you, but an assured performance would be such a great sign of progress. We can’t keep folding under pressure. Imagine if we were actually in a title race.
That won’t happen.
They might get on top of us in spells especially late in the game, going on our recent showings.
I think we might sneak a win but a scrappy draw is the favourite. Defeat wouldn’t be a shock. Only possibilities to raise an eyebrow would be Match Abandoned or Postponed.
When was the last time we won 3-0I don't see what the fuss is about, easy 3-0 win for us.
Moyes has the edge, physically, but EtH has ice in his veins.I think a brawl between moyes and ETH is all you missed!
They've hit a vein of good form lately
Not counting City or Liverpool because they weren't expected to win either of those games anyways. Outside of those games their last 3 were 2-2 Arsenal, 4-0 Bournemouth and the 4-3 loss to Palace. Plus the conference league 4-1 win. Even in the City and Liverpool games they looked a lot better than they were earlier in the season. I'd have preferred to face them in February than now.3 losses in a row ?
It's like people forget there was a world cup tournament mid season. And we've been in every competition up until near the end. Playing twice a week for 4 months is insane. It's almost a blessing we're out of the EuropaIt isn't when you've been playing a match on average every 3-4 days since end of December. That takes a toll. We've played 36 matches since then. You know how many matches the 98/99 team played from the end of December until May? 26. 10 fewer matches in the same span.
I hate playing West ham, they run their fckin hearts out when they play us then fckin bend over for all and sundry the following week
Game raising cnuts
I needed some wishful optimism going into tonight’s game. Thanks, that’s done the trick. Expecting the players to start like a pack of rabid dogs.Ironically, that last-minute loss to Brighton may put a rocket up the players behinds and push us on for a better performance and the 3 points today. We do have a decent record of bouncing back after a loss under ETH. If we had ‘held on’ for the draw In midweek, it may have been more of the same. I really do hope so, anyway, would be a big 3 points if we can win tonight.
