What a turnaround. Couple of years back the whole CAF was convinced we needed to move to a 4-3-3 for attacking football, and the 4-2-3-1 was the cause of all our problems. Now we have posters begging to go back to the much hated "pivot midfield"
As soon as we take risks that involved us losing s bit of control in midfield our fanbase absolutely shite themselves.
We’re always the one who should take a backwards step in big games, we’re always the team who needs to shore up midfield. Even Gary fell into this trap last Monday night

There’s a number of options for Ten Hag here.

    A. Go with the same team with more match fitness, a few rollickings and expect Mount and Gernacho to play the way we know they can.

    B. Swap Rashford to left wing and bring in Sancho or Martial up front. Swap Mount for Erickson.

    C. Can’t see this one, swap the formation to a defensive two in midfield. This would make our summer business feel a bit redundant in midfield.

Personally, I just want the 3 points and won’t worry about the performance until we are fit and flowing, confidence comes with points. As soon as we batter someone it will flow, let’s hope we get there

Excited about this match. The wolves game was massively underwhelming after months of waiting. Im sure we will play much better, but the most important thing is getting 3 points to start the season with some momentum.

I still want a 4-3-3 but it has to be with the right profile of players. Playing with two 8s who can't pass the ball well and have zero midfield presence alongside a DM who can't pass the ball well and is prone to rash challenges is akin to playing a 4-1-4-1 with no good passers or controllers at all and that is a disaster.

If we manage to revamp our midfield and get players who are uber comfortable on the ball in midfield then 4-3-3 is absolutely the best formation to play.
It's just one match mate. And we looked like crap physically. Let's wait a few more games to jump to a conclusion imo.

I think we’ll do better than last week. We have gotten a bit of a wake-up call, and maybe also a bit more sharpness.

Yeah I'm fine with giving the current set up more time because Monday was not us anywhere near our best but still, the issue of not being able to keep the ball and control games has been a long-running one for years and it keeps biting us in the backside in the biggest moments.

When you put it like that it is quite hilarious tbf! Now that the emotion from the performance has died down a bit I'm curious to see how this team develops between now and the international break.

Quite worried about this one. I've taken Rashford out of my FPL team as I can't imagine him doing anything here. Reckon this could be a bad one if we're not careful. Spurs have something to prove without Kane and we look low on confidence.

ETH wants us to be the best transitional(counter) team in the world. He would like us to control games, but not through possession in a Pep Guardiola sense.

Bruno on the right is the wrong thing to do surely. Enough of that failed experiment
It’s the only way of fitting him in with Mount and Casa. I know everyone wants Mount dropped but ETH won’t do that. The only other thing would be 4-2-3-1. Bruno in front of mctominay and Casa but then we’d be relying on the front 4 to cause problems.

I actually think we played some of our best football in a 4-2-3-1. Bruno Is 100% most effective when in AM. Another problem we have is the wide players not contributing enough. Antony should be doing a lot more… Rashford is best on the left but at the minute unless Martial plays we need him up front…

Last season except the first few matches we were able to keep the ball, push the opponents back to their box and control the game to a large extent against most mid/bottom table teams. Our biggest issue back then was scoring and seeing the game out. So basically a good #9 and depth.

Imo after maybe two three games at max we'll get back on track so no worry. Tbh I'd rather worry about our scoring issue. Really hope that lad Hojlund would hit the ground running for us. But he gotta get fit first.

I actually think teams that come out and rely on a high press are going to find it quite difficult against us. Fancy this to be a high scoring game, but if we persist with Shaw as a inverted fullback, which in theory can work, than we have to play Sancho to help keep the ball better.

Actually think we will be fine in this one.

I suspect the style of football Spurs play will suit us and they are still poor in defence.

I'm hoping Wolves was a bit of a wakeup call.

    Worst one yet.

Also, how do you write the fancy o for Hojlund?
He has to earn his fancy o mate. Just like you don't bestow a chant on a new signing, you don't bother spelling Rasmus's name right until he has his first 20 goal season.

I’ve taken out Bruno as I share your pessimism.
Can see this being a draw.

    ø

It’s on the keyboard next to æ and below å.

I cheat and go with the swedish version "ö"... at least I'm pressing the correct button ;)

Sancho should get the start at LW, Rashford down the middle. Otherwise I guess the same team. If Mount is a bit pointless again then bring in McT.

Same here. As long as Rashford gets to play left wing on the counters and attack the space™

Just dont play Mount in a too attacking role so we can absorb their pressure then we should be fine as we’ll be good on counters. Just sit back a bit and take Casemiro out if he’s not fit.

Really struggling to give a shit about this game after the last week or so.

Would obviously love to be proven wrong but I think we're gonna get battered.

The way Ange has them playing will overwhelm us. Also Ten Hag has a tendency to make stupid unorthodox decisions like playing Bruno on the wing.

Has them playing? It’s been one game!

Probably an unpopular opinion but with our M,C,B midfield I still feel its either Mount or Bruno. I actually think Mount has done OK and will offer something but not in that formation. I would prob start Ca, Bruno and McT in there. McTs not pretty but legs around the park help to break up play and that double pivot frees the lads in front of them. Can see why we want Amrabat tbf. Think he'll do the same as last week with Shaw coming over to cover in CM when we push. Don't like it, Leaves Shaw in no man's land on turnover.

I'll be at the spurs stadium watching this game tomorrow, at the spurs end unfortunately so i'll have to try to contain my excitement if we score

I'll report back on how we perform.

Surely this is wrong? It may have been the wrong form filled but 6 days of no football isn’t a rule just it be a rule.
Im stunned they simply didn’t follow protocol from it being a concussion and working from there. Now I’m 100 percent sure it wasn’t the wrong form fill in at all
