Lol ... different kettle of fish entirely. First it was away from home, second the pitch was not great, third we didn't start with our best XI.

But these things apart, you're right.

So exactly the same as when we met Yeovil then.

    DDG
    Valencia Bailly Jones Young
    Lingard Matic Pogba
    Sanchez Lukaku Martial

Or the same players in a 4231 depending on if we are in control of the game.

Away from home against Newport fecking County. Pretty decent XI, actually.

How they play in the cups doesn't matter. Spurs always feck up in the cups (bar this season's CL), but it never impacts their league form. They will be on their game when they face us, but I think we will be able to match them. Hope to goodness Jose gets his tactics right.

Right-ho. You'll beat us on Wednesday then. The logic is clear.

Who the feck are talking about beating you on Wednesday? We are pointing out that you massively underperformed against Newport, and that the same excuses you try to use for the result also can be applied for us.

    Quite a few on here.

Yes we under-performed against Newport, but so what?

Of course people are talking about beating you in the match thread for the game, what did you expect on a United forum?

What people NOT are talking about though is using Newport as reasoning for why we'll beat you, like you insinuate.

I see. It's gone from "Who the feck are talking about beating you on Wednesday?", to "Of course people are talking about beating you in the match thread for the game".

    Lol ..

    Lol ..

What do you expect in a match day thread on a United forum? That we all shiver due to the might of Tottenham?

Go to a Tottenham forum and you'll surely find posts in their matchday thread discussing how they'll beat us as well.

    "lol", what are you, 12?

What an utter load of drivel.

Youse were away from home against a league 2 team, not Barcelona.

Secondary, the pitch last night wasn’t any better for us and yet we still scored 4 goals.

You mentioned that wasn’t your best XI, the same could be said about Utd as well. We probably rested more of our first XI players than you lot did. Pogba, Matic, De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Young, Martial all didn’t play. Youse only rested Sanchez, Lloris & Aurier. The rest of the players that are expected to play against us such as Kane, Alli, Vertonghen, Son to name a few all played for you guys tonight

It is just madness to think of not playing Lingard, he is bang in form, and has a great record of doing well at Wembley.

You need to remember that many posters on here, don't watch us play games. So they may not realise just how good Lingard is playing right now. I have long since realised this, when some posters would write some very odd comments.

On form, Lingard is our best attacker right now, able to score World class goals, which none of our other attackers could probably do.
Sanchez, Martial and Lingard are players who can do serious damage to Spurs.
On a side note: it's kind of strange that none of us are even mentioning Lukaku, especially when he is our main striker!

    My friend.
In the game at OT, you did not have Kane, while we were missing Pogba. Basically, the best player from each side was missing. So it was quite even.
Secondly, we weren't in great form in the run-up to the game at OT.
This time around, we'll have all our attackers in top form.
Lingard will be playing at Wembley.
And for the first time in a long time, I truly believe that we have a better team (man for man) than Spurs.

What you have going for you, is the best striker on the planet, back in your team.
And it's a "home" game for you.

    I'd put MUFC as favourites.

Well, we need to absolutely smash Spurs at their home, our away record has been very poor there since SAF left, and I do not think we have won there since. They only have Kane, but I think Jones/Smalling can handle him. Dele Ali doesn't look in his form right now, and we have Sanchez, and Martial and Lingard(who always scores at Wembley). I think we'll win this 3-1. Kane to get a consolation goal at the end.

Since when does Lew play for Spurs??

Have a feeling it will be 3 midfielders.

    Herrera---Matic
    -----Pogba
    Sanchez----Martial
    ------Lukuku

But i hope Jose just thinks 'feck it' and goes:-

    ------Matic---Pogba
    Sanchez---Lingard---Martial
    ----------Lukaku

Be a shame if Lingard doesn't start with the form he's in, think he might or why would Jose have put him on the bench yesterday if the plan was also to put him on the bench against Spurs?

It would be wrong to not play Lingard, there is simply no reason at all to not play a player in such good form, I really don't understand at all, why anyone would think that he would not be playing, he is in the same category as De Gea, Pogba etc in terms of must play players, it is that simple.

If we lose it’s because they are so great and obviously better than us, if we win it’s because of a bunch of excuses and this and that, new stadium bla bla. We’ve heard it all before, don’t feed this internet loser and his incredible agenda.

Let’s enjoy the game. If we lose, we’re still five points clear before they play Liverpool and Arsenal. If we win, they have no chance of catching us this season, it’s done at 11 points. Draw and we’re still big favorites to beat them, I like the odds regardless. Our squad is superior to Spurs and LFC, imagine fielding players like Sissoko, Moreno, Llorente and Ings on a regular basis.

I'm really looking forward to this one. There's a good vibe around the club and fans lately. Think we'll have a really good game and hopefully a good result. I think that for Tottenham this is a bad time to play us. Usually entertaining games vs Spurs.

Lingard will be one of the first names on the team sheet, for sure.

I really think and hope he does go for a 2 man midfield and try to blow Spurs away. He’s got the attack he’s wanted for 18 months now. I’ve understood why he’s shut games out in the past, because of a slight lack of trust in the lack of quality in the squad, but now, our strongest 11+3 subs with 4-2-3-1 is pretty devastating

    .....................de Gea
    Valencia - Smalling - Jones - Shaw
    .................Matic - Pogba
    ......Sanchez - Lingard - Martial
    .....................Lukaku

Subs: Romero, Rojo, Young, Herrera, Fellaini, Mata, Rashford
    Hoping for this line-up

The games against Newport and Yeovil have no relevance to the game on the Wednesday, but if some United fans want to think otherwise - for reasons best known to themselves - then so be it.

If we win this, it will take something monumental for us not to get top 4. Will be really tough though. Fully expect Spurs to be at their best for this one.

Looking forward to a great game. A match in which the team that scores first might not win. Come on United. Fair play to @GlastonSpur comes on with his tuppence worth. Do you post on the Spurs forum too btw?

We can stop the players feeding Kane and have enough firepower. We should win this.

Well we do have a good record at Wembley, so not quite sure what White Hart Lane has to do with this match??
Like WHL it'll be filled with Spurs fans, that's got to affect things a little bit. It's not the same as playing a cup final there with 50% United fans.

It might not be the same, but let's not pretend that this is a home match for Spurs, it is a match being played at a neutral venue.

The "neutral venue" is currently Spurs' home ground and thus it'll be filled with mostly Spurs fans. So no, it's not exactly a neutral place. :p

It's not as partisan as White Hart Lane though, as you'll have tonne loads of day trippers and United fans stashed In the crowd.
I'll be one of the latter.

30mins from my door! Marvellous, when i'm usually having to spend about 7 hours on a round trip.

I think this is a game both Lingard and Herrera have to play in to track Son, Alli and Eriksen.
