Not a fecking chance. He’s our most creative player.

He's not up to speed fitness wise yet(understandably), and he did give the ball away a lot against Yeovil, if we give the ball away against Tottenham we might not see it again for 2 minutes, plus you'd be bringing him on fresh to run at a hopefully already run ragged defence.

Mata never starts in big games no matter how good his prior form is so that's a no go. Sanchez already had his debut and over a week of training, he's also a cert to start as he's fully fit and our best player now. The only question is whether we'll do a midfield 3 with Herrera (imo we should), or Lingard starts like he has been lately.

Agree about Mata not starting big games, but this is the first must win game of the season, win and a T4 finish is almost guaranteed, so why not mix it up, and put out a team the opposition Manager isn't expecting.

Whatever the team there'll be one, if not two surprises where there is a collective "what the hell has he picked him for", or "why is he playing him there"

Dont know why people think Mourinho will play 3 midfielders to compete with Spurs.
He wont bother competing with them in midfield and will hit them on the break the way he always does in an away match like this.
Hes been pretty consistent in showing that he doesn't really give a feck about possession

He might play Hererra to mark someone or play Lingard a bit deeper but it wont be with the purpose of trying to control midfield
It'll be about limiting the damage Alli can do (not much on recent form) or giving pogba a bit more freedom.

    The team picks itself imo
Any doubts were taken away by who played (and who was rested) against Yeovil

with Young out there crossing then Fellaini should be out there as well to fully maximiz those crosses.... 3-man midfield Fellaini - Matic - Pogba

    Has to be:
    De Gea
    Valencia Jones Smalling Shaw
    Matic Pogba
    Sanchez Lingard Martial
    Lukaku

Could see Young in for Shaw, but I really want Shaw to start

With Alderweireld still out they will be more vulnerable at the back, so I think a conservative hardworking attacking team is needed. Lingard to work back through the midfield, leaving Sanchez and Martial isolated on the wings to attack with pace. Lingard loves Wembley and Spurs haven't really secured it as a true home stadium. If we can keep them on the back foot and deny service into Kane we should be heavy favorites to win the game.

    3-1 United - Lingard 2x, Lukaku

    Is Alderweireld still out?

This is tough to predict. I'd expect an open game at the 2nd half with both teams chasing the results.

Apart from Dave conceding a goal, I agree with you!

Alderweireld's not confirmed to be out, although he just recently got back to normal training, like others in doubt: Aurier, Rose. Winks is out, for sure.

Important players like Alderweireld should be pushed into the first team right away considering the magnitude of the game.

We are in terrible for with a flu seemingly going round the squad. I'm not looking forward to this game, don't think you will wallop us but we are struggling to score goals.

Let's hope Kane is riddled with it

    3-1: Lukaku x2, Martial x1.

I'm just going on the law of averages. Surely Lukaku is due a goal against a top side

Actually looking forward to watch this. Two TOP sides that will try to win this no matter how. It should be a really nice game to watch.
IMO the bookies are overpaying us (3.1 on Bet365 last time I checked), but I see us in better form and I really hope we are gonna win this.
Hope to see a good performance from Alexis, Martial & Lukaku.
Let's go for this! Going for 1-3 win.

Spurs are the second in the form table in the Premiership over the past 6 games. Not saying we will win but we are in better league form than Utd at the moment.

I'm sorry, but Mourinho's United won't try to win this no matter how.

Swansea did Spurs a favour by beating Arsenal. Means they can drop points here and still probably stay ahead of Arsenal for the foreseeable. It's a bit of a double-edge sword for Spurs right now though, with big opportunities to close / extend gaps, but due to the nature of them all being big games, it could end up being the reverse and they find their top four chances gone. I would imagine even most Spurs fans think they can't finish above United now, at least if they don't beat us tonight (a draw and especially a defeat leaves them with a bit too much to do). But in terms of the top four race and staying ahead of Arsenal in that regard, they've have to go and beat Liverpool & Arsenal in their next two games. Horrible fixture list as they've now got that FA Cup replay sandwiched between Pool & Arse, then they have to play Juventus away. They can probably get away with a draw or defeat to us, if they were to win the rest and at least manage to score in Turin. They thumped Wimbledon and Everton, but have looked clueless at times in front of goal in the last two. Depends which Spurs shows up tonight, but I fancy us at the moment in a close game.

This for me. Our starting 11 looks so much more formidable with Sanchez there, with great options off the bench.

Do you honestly believe that considering how we have played over the last 3 games? It's been grim viewing.

honest truth: I'd take a draw now if offered. Spurs are well over their Wembley hiccup and can be devastating. I'm sure very few people will agree

I'm sorry, but Mourinho's United won't try to win this no matter how.

Okay.......you obviously are new to this football world, and do do not know how things work, or seemingly anything about it, so I will just say that you could not be further from the truth if you tried.

Its a damn strong team. Reminds me of how excited I was and how formidable we looked with RvP lining up in the squad. That was the best team since Ronaldo left, and now we have the best team since RvP and SAF's last year

No real weaknesses in it. Only positions I could see being marginally upgraded would be Smalling or Lingard, but I think both have been playing well enough to keep their positions. If Lingard can keep his consistency and Smalling can learn to score on his headers we'd be golden

I think this will be very tight. We will be scared of Kane, they will be scared of Sanchez/Martial. Could be a game where we really need the brilliance of Pogba, and our defenders should take care of the constant crossing from Trippier. Important to close them down and avoid silly free-kicks around the box - although our aerial play should be far superior.

Eriksen is not very spectacular these days, Alli just not very good unless he gets time in the box - it’s all about Harry Kane for this team, naturally.

Would be nice with a goal from Lukaku, but I hardly expect it given his low return this season - especially against teams in the top 10. Sanchez to play I guess, which can yield results or just fizz out given his lack of chemistry with the rest.

Martial's scored in each one of our last three league games and was rested completely vs Yeovil though. I just can't see him not starting this.

Pretty sure it'll be Young. My only doubt for a place is whether Fellaini will come into the lineup. I haven't got him in my team but can't shake off the feeling that there was a reason he was not in the squad v Yeovil.
I think Jose would bring in Herrera for his hard work in the MF,Pogba to move into No.10 and can't stop playing Sanchez either, so it should be bench for Fellaini.

    Don't be infantile.

It all depends on how you interpret “no matter how”. Mourinho's win this no matter how will be sitting back, going for counterattack and fast transitions and even accepting a draw, if that's what the game permits. The poster was referring to go all attack, something we clearly aren't doing.

That particular poster said that we will not try to win this match, which is a damn lie, of course we will try to win the match, just as we do for every match that we play.

That was the thing which showed that poster did not have a clue about our side or José at all.

What is your buzz man? You grill everyone who doesn't select Lingard in their predicted line-up. And then you follow it up with sarky comments like this one above.

Seriously you're going to accuse someone of knowing nothing about football because he suggested Mourinho would not play for the win. Mou plays games against top opponents away from home conservatively and sets up to defend in numbers. There's nothing wrong with Android's observation.

I think José might reinforce the midfield.

    De Gea
    Valencia Jones Smalling Shaw
    Herrera Matic Pogba
    Sanchez Lukaku Martial

Not sarky at all, saying that José will not try to win the game is a total lie, he might set us up strong defensively, but that does not mean that we will not try to win the match.

We will be going there looking to take the full three points, as we do in each and every game that we play.

Same team I went with. Harsh on Lingard, but he will come on for 30minutes to run at Spurs.

More than harsh really, he has been our stand out player really, and deserves to start this game more than almost any other player perhaps bar de Gea!

Mannnn, 8 o'clock could not come any sooner. I m at work and all I think is the game tonite.

Or course we will try to win. But Mou will not "try to win this no matter what".
