Expect to lose but then again expected to lose against City and Arsenal.

Lets hope that Arsenal and Leicester both win before Spurs play us, hopefully it will lead to them cracking under the pressure and let us sneak the win.
I'd argue that there would be even more pressure if both those two were to lose

Carrick and Schneiders will play in the middle of the park and be shite, Smalling will have a mare and De Gea will be United's MOM...and we'll get tonked 3-1 !

    Thats the spirit.

Herrera over Carrick please, Carrick is done.

We all know that but he will play. That's what 3 years of shite does to you. Can't see us beating Spurs at their place.

Personally I think we'll do well to win this, Spurs look very strong at the moment but like people are pointing out we've done well against the top teams but if we do beat them I might actually start to believe we could make top four.

I think Spurs will win, they are fighting for the title and are a good side with the best defensive record in the league. We don't create much in general and are very poor away from home most of the time.

they also have the best offensive record in the league, I think it's gonna be a draw though. Van Gaal knows how to play in big games and with the current very mobile midfield it could be a big battle and a chance per side game, hopefully we will menage to find the net but I expect a big battle in midfield and intensive football without many chances, 0:0, 1:1 is my score prediction

Same starting eleven for me. But Mensah as a right back and Darmian as a left back.

    DDG
    TFM Smalling Blind Darmian
    Carrick Schneiderlin
    Mata Lingard Martial
    Rashford

I have a feeling it will be draw 1-1. But another 1-0 victory will make my day.

After Carrick last performance? He can't even say he was tired, he had two weeks rest.

We need a win out of this. It will kick the spuds a little bit more out the title race and keep the pressure on 4th for us.

The time has come to play with passion and pride, let's get rid of this plum of a manager, look to the future and start playing like a proper footie team again. Starting with this weekend.

    Next weekend.
    United v Villa
    Chelsea v City

Could be the weekend we take 4th. Just need these three points.

I don't see Carrick as bad as what people said against Everton. He did very well against Liverpool and City, one little step down in one game people questioning him. I put Carrick there because I don't want break the rhyme of our winning and also Schneiderlin played better as box to box not deeper.

We need to win this, it could be a high scoring game this.

    Okay, I'll bite.
These have been the score lines of our last few EPL games:

    PL W Man Utd 1:0 Everton 03 Apr 2016
PL W Man City 0:1 Man Utd 20 Mar 2016
PL L West Brom 1:0 Man Utd 06 Mar 2016
    PL W Man Utd 1:0 Watford 02 Mar 2016

Now, given the above, what makes you think this is going to be a high scoring game?
Our target is to score 1 goal then hope for DDG to keep a clean sheet.

If we want to score more than 1 goal in a game, then we need to use some Warren Joyce trained players (like we did against Arsenal), who are fresh and have not be Vangled. Once a player is Vangled, he will understand the 1 goal per game philosophy and follow it, to the letter.

    This is a realistic possibility.
However, there have been so many false dawns and corners turned, that I refuse to get optimistic.

Because Spurs have to attack to keep in touch with Leicester. You would think you would have thought of that when cooking up this smart arse answer.

    Edit and Vangled? Wise up!

Same as the Arsenal game. I could see that.

Lots on here predicting a low scoring game, but I think it's more likely there will be quite a few goals and a good game to watch. I've gone for 2-3 win for United. Fingers crossed for Manchester City and Arsenal to lose.

If we play our fast players, Herrera, Martial, Rashford, Lingard, we should get a result here. but if LVG decides on the Carrick, Fellaini route. Oh well........

    De Gea
    Tofu Smalling Blind BJ
    Schneiderlin Herrera
    Mata Lingard Martial
    Rashford
    Spurs to nick it, just.

Am I the only one who thinks Varela deserves to start? He made one error, but there were matches where he was one of our best players and never gave up unlike the rest of the team? I know it is Van Gaal and all, but I really do think we play better with him in the team. IMO he is better than Valencia offensively and he isn't THAT bad defensively.

After our recent results against big sides there almost seems to be some expectation we can get a result here whereas the Arsenal, City and Everton results were complete surprise score lines. Hoping we don't feel the pressure to win now top 4 looks doable.

This is without a doubt the key-match for us if we are gonna get 4th. After this game we have 4 teams at home (Villa, Bournemouth and Palace) - and even if have been shaky against weaker sides (to put it mildly) - those are 3 teams we should beat. Leicester at home is difficult to assess - we could face a team fighting for their lives to win the League, we could also be up against a nervous side or we could be up against a side who is almost champions by the time we play them. West Ham away will be tough and Norwich might be fighting for their lives - or they might have saved their Place by the time we play them.

But I am pretty convinced that if we are no more than 2 Points behind City after this weekend - it's a clear advantage us - especially as City will focus a lot on PSG and have some horrible matches after WBA

I would not give him the chance in such a high profile game again. He showed some horrible defensive instincts in that situation vs Coutinho and overall looks iffy positioning-wise. He can put in a good tackle but he's so weak physically and is easily bullied. He's done better offensively which is good in games where we're mostly in possession and need an outlet. But I don't think that's what we require for this game where we're likely to be on the back-foot for the most part.

We need a midfield that will compete. Carrick or Fellaini would be a disaster in midfield.
