Due a good performance against these guys.

Monk will have them playing their way, so pretty confident about this game. Do not see any reason why Swansea would play for a draw or park the bus at home.

Fancy this will be the first real test for Blind as he will rightly or wrongly be targeted by Gomis. Thank god we have Darmian at RB. At Schneiderlin to stop the midfield runs.

Yep, we're far better equipped to deal with them this season. Hopefully they fall right into our hands and we take our chances when they come.

Come to think of it, I think I'd rather Young start ahead of Mata to offer Darmian better protection against Montero.

Well it's a good thing they play on opposite sides then

You don't want our best performing attacking player this season to start? Okay

In reference to Mata, he won't be as effective as he normally is against Swansea - hence me not wanting him to start, it is no secret certain games are specially made for him and certain games aren't.

Ofcourse i'm not shoving my opinion down anyone's throat.

Fair enough, I just don't see why someone wouldn't want Mata to start after his performances in the first 5 games this season. If anything, Mata I think will do better because Swansea are more attack minded and possession based as well while not being too physical for the most part, so they won't park the bus or try to bully us physically (not that they could). Mata should have more space to do his thing and he'll thrive in that.

I hope LVG goes into this game with a not too overly cautious attitude and we have a real go at them. I feel the best form of defence will be to really get them on the back foot and try and keep the ball moving quick. We will still need to give them a certain level of respect as players like Montero can give you grief if you let them but he's not hazard so we shouldn't fear him. I actually think we are perfectly equipped to handle this swans team compared to last time out so I'm predicting a tight but confident 2-0 win

Januzaj picked up an injury vs Brugges so will miss this.

My guess is it's either Herrera or Fellaini to start.

This sounds really bad, but it may be a blessing in disguise. Hope Herrera starts.
Yeah, hopefully he bags a goal and does well, as our next game is vs Liverpool after the break, and Herrera won't have international football. So if he does well, then he'll definitely start that game which would be great for us, with his non stop pressing.

You can only beat/defend against the teams put in front of you.
And if you exclude Brugg and use only the EPL games, that's zero goals conceded. Even better.

Yeah but throwing about terms like the meanest defence in Europe isn't particularly meaningful given that we just played our 3rd EPL game of the season last week... It's like Stoke getting 3 clean sheets in a row and claiming they have the best defence in Europe just based on what has happened over 3 games

Won't be watching this game as I have a bad feeling. I guess I only watch about 70% of games as I just feel too sick watching other times! Prob makes me a bad fan.

A win here would be fantastic, and a big sign of improvement over last season. Not confident though, I'm going 1-1.

Going for a draw here, as well. Think we'll concede. They're hard to beat, these feckers.

Tough game but the sort we need to step up and take charge of given the form city are in.

No team has given us significant defensive problems so far this season. Swansea will offer more than anyone else so far on that front, but it's clearly not a weak area for us. Our weak area is obviously breaking teams down when they park the bus, which Swansea are highly unlikely to do.

So we might well find this game easier than Newcastle, not harder. For all their attacking success at the moment, Montero is the only real danger man. Van Gaal will be well aware of that and he now has plenty of tools to deal with it: the league's in-form right-back and right centre-back, and a choice of three quality DMs to offer them cover.

If we defend like we know we can, then it should be an open game. I think last seasons results, the Newcastle draw and being back in Europe should be motivation enough to ensure we win

Dont see many people posting line ups like this anymore as we always set up with 2 defensive midfielders now but would actually love to see this:

    -----------------Romero-----------------

    --Darmian--Smalling--Blind--Shaw--

    ------------Schneiderlin-----------
    --------Herrera-----Fellaini-------

    -----Mata--------------Memphis----
    --------------Rooney---------------

Similar to what we played last season when we battered Spurs and City etc except its Memphis instead of Young and Schneiderlin instead of Carrick, as well as different full backs. I wouldn't actually mind if it was Carrick or Schweinstiger in DM either. Its a bit more of an attacking line up so I doubt LVG would ever play it now but I just think it has more bite, more flair is much stronger in attack and is still solid defensively. It would bridge that gap between defense and attack which we have been missing in the league so far. Would like to see what it can do.

What a huge match this has become now with Liverpool and Chelsea losing too.

    Come on United!!!

If we want to be in with a shout now we HAVE to capitalize on this weeks results. Swansea is by no means an easy fixture but an away win even this early could prove huge.

    Louis Van Gaal Press Conference:

Slightly dreading this match. Swansea are a very good side and I don't think we'll get anything here! :(
