I'm not sure how we set up for that half. Herrera seemed to be favoring left and was out of the area where he could be most effective, while Schweinsteiger, who looks exhausted, was leading most of play through the middle. Darmian also featured heavily in starting forward from the touchline but there were always two players closing him off and Mata doesn't give enough support.

Defence looks fine but Romero has been dodgy as hell.

Rooney back to PL form, should've at least gotten a shot on target in that half but came up with nothing. I don't see him turning this around, everything he does looks labored.

The biggest problem is Rooney who's undroppable. No matter how shit he plays we tend to sign players that can help him score. He's like that dead albatross that we have to hang around our neck since we pay him 300K in wages and made him our club captain.

If only SAF had gotten rid of Rooney before he had left , if only.

SAF always knew when players where past it, plus he mentioned in his book, due to Rooneys build, he was going to burn out sooner rather than later

We need Fellaini for some physical presence up top to give Williams and Fernandez some problems, but I really can't see us winning this. We aren't creating enough and we're too slow.. again.

Gomis is in great form and Blind is struggling against him. Smalling looks a bit shaky as well and Romero's kicking is shit.

Mata and Rooney have been pretty shit.

Poor that Rooney didn't even test the keeper both times he was put in on goal.

It's the same old weakness with our attack. We just can't go behind teams on our right side. Mata just doesn't offer an outside option.

I dont understand LVG has had 2 full transfer windows with almost unlimited money, and has spent an awful lot, and really man for man there has not been a huge improvement , in addition our attacking play has really regressed

Its LVG fault he had the whole summer to fix our attack yet he hasnt, he better sort it out before tuesday

So how about the fact he fixed the right back with Darmian, left wing with Depay, midfield with Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger and Herrera, left back with Shaw, and revitalised Fellaini?

Its not so bad though. This is a tough game. For people saying our tempo is slow. Teams lose away games because they play at too fast a pace. The atmosphere of the ground and the passion of swansea is hard to contain, you can't match it playing fast paced football. Instead we have tried to kill it by controlling the game. But swansea have made it hard for us by consistently pressuring us.

People asking mata not to pass sideways just watch the players in the box and not the ball, rooney is absolutely static that's why players go backwards or switch play when we find the edge of the box.

It's not enough to get to the final, you've got to move around in it as well.

Right, he can't just hoof into the box, there's no Fellaini to aim for there, and can't pass into the space because there's not much being made by movement.

Honestly don't think Mata and Rooney compliment each other well...their train of thought is not as quick on the ball and having two attacking players like that doesn't lend a lot of positives into the attack.

I expect Carrick and Afroman to come on for Schweini and Herrera, don't see Rooney getting subbed off. If/When Fellaini comes on we'd have a much bigger threat because we will have much more of a physical threat, most of our players upfront are weak and he would balance it. There would be more players on him meaning we'll get more space.

As for Memphis I think Young should've started today to free Memphis the pressure.

Rooney is past it and flushed, we should get rid of him and scoring that hat trick yesterday will only prolong that process. Rooney finishes the clear cut chances but he doesn't have that edge that he had years back, I'd rather put Fellaini in front of him as he has all the qualities LvG wants from a striker and put Herrera in a nr 10, that way Herrera would have more space to operate in. Fellaini the soulution for everything eh?

Bring on Fellaini & Young to give them something to think about. All too easy for swansea right now with our zombie passing.

    Second-half kick-off

    No changes at the break.
Our keeper needs to stop trying to kick with this left foot. It is shit. He is slow adjusting to change feet. Our players still think they have De Gea there and don't pass the ball in such a way that it comes to Romero where he can use his right.

Our defenders need to stop passing it on his left foot.

We need Rooney at 10 and a new forward. He's just not got the attributes to be our only option up front...

No, what we need is a number 10 that can beat players 1v1. Rooney is not that player anymore. Both Herrera and Mata just stop dead when they see a man in front of them.

    Explain please...

I shouldnt bother but ok,well some predicted that we gonna lose here, people talking like we are playing at home vs some 6 division team. We kept them at bay as much we can and they did the same to us. We had some chances, they had some chances.

Am i ultra happy with this half?No but i also not in this is shit, that is shit, boring, watching some paint to dry is more fun, then fecking go and watch it.

Just remembered why I never go near match day threads.

At least one cringeworthy over reaction per page

I love the man, but if you ever needed proof of how misleading stats can be, then there it is. I suppose there hasn't been much competition in terms of creativity, but there's been nothing creative about Mata's performance so far.

He seems to have been told never to play a risky pass. Just sideways and backwards. Even hasn't been making any decent runs behind the defence anymore.

Standard nowadays, must say we haven't been great. I defended us against Newcastle where I genuinely felt we played well but today we've been bad going forward. At the same time Swansea away is not exactly an easy fixture so we need to take that into consideration.

At this rate, we will be saying this about every fixture. Difference between us and Swansea is we spent 300 million to assemble our team. This is a game we should be winning.

stop this shit about spending 250 mio - we spent 20 mio net this window. our defence is good aour midfield too - swansea is aa good team. dont mock our team all the time
