He's starting the season on the bench, because he is the winger who needs a rest the most from our options. It really is that simple, but people will whine about everything.

There’s others In the team who have played more than Garnacho buddy you’re talking shite

If players need a rest after 2 starts to a new season then we’re in trouble

Potentially that ETH could go today if this goes wrong. We are all thinking the same though

I think the words they used was if they get beat today the ownership would have to take a serious look.

I feel he’s dropped Gernacho as he’s young and wants to keep him in line. Even if Rashford plays a blinder today he’s done nothing to earn his place. As for Erickson there’s no words.

Im not sure why they were saying us getting top 6 would be a huge achievement, top 6 is the bare minimum we should be achieveing

Playing against a newly promoted team and I have zero expectations that we will get a win. Depressing :(

Seeing Rashford consistently starting despite being garbage pretty much most of the time honestly sucks any excitement I have for matches.

That line up will make this extremely difficult.

It's like suicide from Ten Hag.

How I would want us to line up:

    ------------------Onana--------------

    Mazraoui.Maguire.Martinez.Dalot

    ...............Ugarte.Mainoo................

    ..........Eriksen.Bruno.Zirkzee.........
    ......................Rashford..............

Not playing with wingers, but with 3 attacking midfielders behind the striker.

Eriksen in an away fixture is a big call, even in his best form for us he has never looked convincing on the road

Starting Eriksen in midfield in 2024 is crazy but this is the state of our midfield at the moment.

Southampton might be one of the only teams he wouldn’t be a liability against because we’re likely to have more of the ball. If we struggle in possession we’ll be overrun in midfield as usual.

I think it’s funny that a 19 year old youth player is the only guaranteed started in midfield for us. For such a massive club that’s awful.
Incredible that we have not sought midfield reinforcements. Right now with all his flaws I'd take Rabiot now. But we should not be in this desperate situation

The panic in this forum, honestly.. Ugarte will get minutes today. De Ligt was great for us last time he played, he’s trying to play Licha back into form, because he’s still our best defender, Garnacho is being managed and will probably be used as an impact sub.. may also be punishment for liking instagram pics slagging off the manager, as you’d rightly expect.
Let’s see how the game goes, I think we’ll have way too much for them to handle

We're so vulnerable in that midfield. Mainoo and Eriksen together is a big risk.
We scream to control the game those are the two players that can help. The cbs needs to step up and be aggresive

Its also Southampton I guess we feel they will play a low block so we need a passer in there. So as long as the defensive line is high enough it should be fine

Watch us get dominated in midfield today. Eriksen as CM does not work.

Let’s enjoy the football. Glad to see the end of that international break. Come the feck on, United!

Based on last match, starting Casemiro in 2024 is even crazier.

I mean if the excuse was that Casemiro has not got the legs, then bringing Eriksen as replacement is certainly a wild decision.

I am not worried about Ugarte not starting, he'll be in the second half and in 1 or 2 games he'll definitely start.

I am certain Ugarte won't be in the club if Ten Hag was set against signing him and INEOS won't let EtH not make use of a player that cost millions this summer, it would be understandable if Yoro was fit but not given starts right away due to his very young aga and little experience, but Ugarte is already experienced enough and cost millions so EtH won't have a space to ignore him and not start him for months.

Erikson? Are you joking? My ETH patience is wearing very thin right now.

We are likely to have the ball? What makes you say that? According to stats Southampton are the 2nd best team possession wise this season and they have an athletic quick front pressing line.

All logic suggests we're in big trouble with this line up but I hope I am wrong.

Southampton are one of the best possession teams in the league - fortunately they are entirely toothless but we are highly unlikely to dominate the ball today.

Garnacho almost amassed 100 appearances for United before he turned 20, and then went to Copa America with Argentina this summer.

Who needs a rest more than him? Amad, who's 22 and has barely played first team football other than a loan stint at Sunderland?

Or Rashford, who's 26 and had the whole summer off for himself?

It's almost been non-stop football for Garnacho ever since he's turned 18, he's 20 now and hasn't even had enough rest in the summer.

In what league? They have been in the PL 5 minutes

I'm glad he's changed the MF, but I don't see what eriksen will offer over collyer

I mean if the excuse was that Casemiro has not got the legs, then bringing Eriksen as replacement is certainly a wild decision.
It was not his legs that caused the issue in the last game was it

2nd highest over the first the games. So either with Erikson we are hoping to keep the ball, or else I have no idea. Because Erikson sure as shit isn't going to be pressing to win the ball back or cutting out passes.

Replaces one midfielder who no longer has the legs for it with another midfielder who no longer has the legs for it.

    Sigh.
