Yes, I presume it’s to try and make sure we aren’t giving the ball away cheaply. I think that would play out with Southampton having an easy time defending against us. Three AMs means little width and we've never been good at the kind of intricate quick accurate passing needed to break open a team who would be happy with a draw. We'd have to push the FBs up and I don't trust this team to have the knowhow to get the balance between attack and defence right. I can see the defence getting caught out, and then the FBs don't push as deep, then there's not enough width and not enough penetrative passing.
