Martial in for James is positive and Matic had a good pre-season so not sure where the complaints are  Varane was always unlikely to start and there's been mention Sancho isn't fully match fit yet. He had a 20 minute jog last weekend and an hour in a friendly.

    Also McTominay is injured:

But, yeah sure, Ole is losing the plot

This is quite worrying now. I don’t think Ole fancies Sancho. It just doesn’t make sense not starting him. Beginning to doubt whether it was an Ole signing. That’s Donny and Sancho where we’ve made pointless signings now.
I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. He’ll be a regular in the team soon.

Why is it ridiculous? There was absolutely no reason Sancho shouldn’t have started today. Why sign him if we aren’t going to use him?

Oh get over yourself seriously, look at the posts you’re making. It’s the 2nd game of the season for fecks sake

Are you having a laugh ? Sancho needs time, he did not had any preseason. He will be a regular soon but I think Ole is playing the
    Fittest players, that’s all.

Makes sense. Bit annoying considering how great McTominay was against Leeds. But like you say, we’ve got the depth for niggling injuries.

It simply doesn’t make sense to sign two elite players and start neither of them. James dropped is excellent, but Sancho and Varane must have started regardless - simply because they were marquee signings and fans want to see them play.

It doesn’t send a good signal for future potential signings either

Is Pogba playing out wide or is the BBC just terrible with formations

    Very true.

I would have understood if Ole was throwing James in there (especially after his poor performance against Leed) but that's not the case. We're loaded and Ole picked a strong side.

    Precisely.
By all accounts Martial played well in the behind closed doors game on Tuesday, and Ole clearly prefers him as a striker. Greenwood keeps his place over James.
Matic is perhaps a surprise inclusion given McTominay's performance last week, but Matic was one of our best performers in pre-season and doesn't deserve to be cast aside either.

These are the reasons why we have a strong squad, City didn't even start Sterling yesterday ffs - that's like us dropping Greenwood.

People getting upset because our shiny new toys aren't starting yet are forgetting that this is a marathon not a sprint, we've got 70+ games to play over the next 8 months or so.

Yeah all I’m saying was I’d get it if he wanted to leave Sancho and Varane out to reward the team that played last week, but Martial didn’t even do that.
Martial is a bit of a surprise. He is showing faith in him, so now has to go out and perform or there are no excuses.

I see a mega "park the bus" situation here. Really need Bruno and Pogba to wear them down, then bring on Sancho around 60-70 minutes to find a breakthrough. Would be a great way for him to kick off his career here if he finds a way.

So we're playing 5 at the back and one in CM. Interesting.

I see the madness is starting early this season.

Feck me, we finally have a squad where we can rotate players and people are upset that we're rotating our players

    I actually hate our fanbase.

I think we all expected Sancho and Varane to rotate in not Matic and Martial
