So McTominay is dropped? I thought he wss comfortably better than Fred last week, also surprised Cavani isn't on the bench.

Why do we take ages to get new signings into the starting lineup? I am sure other teams put their new players in quicker than we seem to.

Matic playing is generally a concern and I'm not mad on that midfield with him and Fred but that's a more than strong enough team to put away a poor Southampton side and hopefully to give the new signings a few more minutes.

This is quite worrying now. I don’t think Ole fancies Sancho. It just doesn’t make sense not starting him. Beginning to doubt whether it was an Ole signing. That’s Donny and Sancho where we’ve made pointless signings now.

It’s a better lineup than last week and some people are still whinging

Expected Sancho to start, I hope he comes on around the 60min mark

Would’ve gone for Sancho over Martial & kept Mason up top. Regardless, this team should win if we play with the same intensity & movement last week.

I thought Sancho might start but wasn't expecting Varane too so soon

Glad Martial is in over James

Surprised at Matic playing, presume that’s to match Romeu man for man or to allow Fred/pogba to push on.

so many options of the bench, we’re looking strong.

hope to see Martial start strong, needs a performance more than anyone.

We all hate that team me included so I expect them to batter Soton ! Usually how it works

Still though Martial over Sancho :(

Trust Ole to know if they are fit to start or not. Hope Martial stuffs a sock and Matic deserves an outing after being our stand out player during pre season.

    Where the white text?

There’s probably so little between starting Martial and Sancho, I don’t get the moaning.

Everyone is excited, for sure, but it’s not like we are fielding a massively weaker team.

Good line up, wish Sancho was fit enough to start. My only worry is Matic being pressed into a mistake, but he was good in pre-season so fingers crossed. Hope Martial has a good game.
He becomes fit by being selected for games. Not sure why he’s not in today and why Martial is. Martial has no long term future here. Integrate Sancho in as soon as possible.

He fancies Sancho, you re just worrying for no reason.
He needs more fitness and he does not want to risk injuring him while Rashford is already out.

I'm thinking this needs white text, just to be safe.

I have no issues with Martial starting or even Sancho/Varane being on the bench, but why the double pivot? Its Southampton lads.

Not too surprised by Martial’s inclusion — I think Ole rates him a lot higher than most of the Cafe does. Grandpa Matic starting, though…

I could all but Guarantee you Sancho is atleast as fit as Martial if not fitter.

Like let's think about it. Martial was out from football for like 6+ months. Only started preseason about a week and a half before Sancho.

Sancho had a summer tournament and like 3 weeks off.

It is fairly unlikely that Martial is fitter than him right now.

this is the most ridiculous thing I’ve read in a while

it’s the second game of the season

What do you mean? He’s clearly not going to get much game time. Dan James started ahead of him last game. Now James is rested and Greenwood starts on the right. Sancho looks to be 3rd choice now.
