At least Rooney is back but tbh I think we'll struggle big time.

maybe just me, but I think Mata has had more worse games than Herrera so why is he getting favoured?

Besides actually the 2 together look good and understand each others games. We are guna miss Herrera imo

Herrera's been arguably better than Di Maria this season so people that think Herrera has been average must think Di Maria's been average or even worse.

Seems quite defensive. But I guess there are good attacking options on the bench.

Against Arsenal playing back five we got lucky.

That lack of pace without Di Maria and Herrera is worrying.

    Bigger goal scoring/ assisting threat.

Could certainly do with more pace seeing as it seems like a team set out to counter attack. Slowly slugging it up the field probably won't be all that useful.

Herrera a big miss tonight! Thought Wilson might have sneaked in but RvP still has the quality needed to bang in any chance from anywhere.

Valencia to discover the form he never had and expose their left back with his blistering pace and ending up with two assist and a goal. Right! Right? ...

I disagree. While Mata has had some mediocre games, I don't think he's hampered us in the sense that Herrera has done in a few games, mainly through being more sloppy in possession.

Strange lineup, don't like the three at the back and see this going wrong tonight because of the lack of pace up front and fact we will be relying on young and Valencia too much in the final third.

That's as a good a lineup as we could do. Young and Valencia will control the wings, Mata will provide plenty of chances for RvP and Rooney.

Does anyone have a decent stream by any chance? Smothering after a days work with a heavy cold. Only fit to watch it in bed.

If this backfires like it now easily could thanks to this Lineup I will seriously question Van Gaal.

3 at the back is recipe for disaster, no Herrera is crazy and still playing Van Persie regardless of anything is just a joke now

Its another manager who talks the talk about dropping players but wont ever drop his best mate RVP. Also like you say Herrera not playing is a joke. Knowing ive said this RVP will probably go and score a hat-trick now and I hope he does.

Is that the most inexperienced bench we have seen this season ?

Hesketh, Targett, Reed and Isgrove maybe have 20 games between them in the league

So we're playing a system based around them having possession and us counter attacking, yet have absolutely no pace in midfield or up top?

I can't see anything wrong with that at all. :wenger:

Herrera looked off the pace against Stoke, likely a fitness issue. Young and Valencia have played the WB roles fine so far and our outings with the 3-5-2 didn't have two in form and settled centre backs, Rojo looks commanding these days and Smalling has been excellent since the City blunder.
Quite sensible really packing the midfield, the only worry is that the front 3 lacks any pace but we can change that if we're toothless.

On a side note, Falcao's hair is incredibly shiny wich is nice to see.

That's as a good a lineup as we could do. Young and Valencia will control the wings, Mata will provide plenty of chances for RvP and Rooney.
Id be quite shocked if we control anything. That formation looks set to counter, not control.

Who would you drop RVP for?

Falcao he already explained numerous times and Wilson imo is not quite ready to be a main starter.

RVP has it in him to score a goal from nothing, he will prove all the doubters wrong.

I trust LVg, but this team lacks pace.
Valencia needs to be on form today and contribute offensively.
Maybe it could morf into something like this :
    -----------------DeGea---------------
    Smalling---McNair---Carrick----Rojo
    -Valencia----Fellaini--Mata--Young-
    -----------Rooney----RVP------------

Its like LVG is trying to piss up off by not starting Falcao or Herrera and then switching back to a formation that we've lost or drawn more games than actually won.
What has Falcao done to date? You'd think like LVG is benching Maradona to play Passarella.

I’m a little bit worried that we will have to count on those three to be honest. LvG trusts them a lot more than I do it seems.

So 3-5-2 is our go-to for tricky away games now? Can't complain, I'd be happy to sneak a couple on the counter here, too bad Di Maria is not playing, he's our best for this formation.

Wank formation yet again. Van Persie, Rooney and Mata don't work well together. They haven't so far anyway. Arsenal was a fluke.

The game is getting closer so we are getting more and more negative. It's going to be fine.... regardless of the system.

I though the 3-5-2 was because Fellainis was injured. Why go 3-5-2 if he is not injured? I prefer the diamond with Herrera.
3-5-2 is because the fullbacks are injured of course. Why would it matter if Fellaini was fit or not?

Neville made a good point about Young and Valencia struggling in a 442 against Tadic and Mane.

My Valencia is not counted on my lineup, the redcafe forum association (RFA) is against me.
