Mata didn't play against Arsenal, Di Maria was there, and it wasn't a fluke anyways, it was a normal counter attacking game once we got to grips with it. Anyways, I'm not thrilled with RvP being there but I can see why he is.

Can't believe people are questioning the lineup. Guys - our full backs are injured and how do you expect a 4 at the back against a team who is decent in the wings. Not to mention the support from their full backs. Only thing I am disappointed is Herrera exclusion , but then I believe mouraine deserves a run for his form

would have preferred Herrera in place of Mata, Wilson in for Robin to provide some pace up front. Huge responsibility for Mata, Carrick and Rooney to create because I expect sweet f.a from Valencia, Young and Fellaini, creatively. We could be in for a long night.

Herrera is the most mobile player in the midfield he is the one that capable of making dangerous balls and assists IMO. Sadly he is out.

When will people stop whining about back 5, it makes sense right now and the last few matches. We don't have fullbacks available and any combination with Young and Valencia in a back 4 isn't ideal and we playing a good team too.
The only thing I am not happy with is Herrera on the bench, he should start instead of Mata.

3 at the back, that will continue to make me nervous until I've seen enough evidence that it's solid. Surprised he has changed from a defence that has worked. Herrera omission is odd as well, unless he just wants him as an option from the bench later. I feel like he might be a player used in home games more so than tight away games.

He has just played to games in a row so hes hardly needing to be rested because of coming back from a lengthy lay off. Secondly nearly every time he plays we look a much better side. Fellaini, Carrick and Mata in midfield does not look good, theres no pace at all.

I know. I was referring to the formation, which should have been the cause of a first half hammering if not for poor Arsenal finishing.

Herrera played 2 games in 4 days after having 6 weeks out.

Its no surprise Van Gaal isnt going to make that 3 games in 9 days with the fixtures getting thicker and faster.

Rooney, Carrick and Mata are all free to play in this formation. I'm quietly confident.

Not happy with that line up to be honest. The back 4 of Valencia, Rojo, Smalling, and Young has been playing really well in the past few games and finally they was some consistency in the selection. Now it's been messed up again. And apart from Valencia there's no pace in that team at all.

Which showed that he was very dangerous though. him and Rooney can work brilliantly in that formation. Not so sure about RvP and Mata
