How confident are people about United progressing?

After those 2 late goals at OT, I can't see past a typical Sevilla shithouse performance with lots of rolling around, time wasting, referee pressurising and a jammy shit goal from nothing
Pretty confident team would do a professional job to progress 2nil to United .

I make them the slight favourites after the first leg score, and the facts they'll be at home with their intimidating fans and shithousery tactics, and they'll be stronger than the first leg while we'll be weaker.

But we've definitely got a chance. Especially with the news that there's 4 returnees to the squad - though I can't see Shaw or Rashford starting after lengthy lay offs. But great to have them available off the bench, and hopefully Sabitzer is fit to start in the #10 role to add some attacking threat.

I'd put it at maybe 60-40 in favour of Sevilla. So I'm hopeful, as we definitely have a chance, but not overly confident as I make them slight favourites.

Even without Fernandes or Rashford (as a starter), I'm happy enough with a midfield / attack of: Casemiro, Eriksen, Sabitzer - Antony, Martial, Sancho. With Rashford to come off the bench?

But it's the weakened defence that's obviously a worry if Sevilla put us under pressure. I think Shaw has to start at CB v Brighton, so we can't risk him for 2 starts in 3 days after a lengthy lay off. But, as with Rashford, it's good to see him back and to have him as an option off the bench.

When all that is needed is one goal! the mood should be fairly optimistic...

But somehow the two late goals (which were absolute gifts) and a few injuries have brainwashed me to thinking United are somehow 3-0 down and it will take a herculean effort to get through the round!

The players included in the squad give me a bit more belief now, will have to see how many minutes they can play.

Always going to be difficult going there and needing a result, hoping we can see it over the line and not have any extra time.

Great news about all the returnees, none more so than Rashford. Having to bring Weghorst for Martial last couple games changes our ability to attack significantly. While it would be great to start Rashford, think it would be better to have him as the option to bring on in place of Martial and/or Sancho depending on the need to get goals.

Think Shaw has to start at LB. Malacia I can see being a liability in how he goes into some challenges and still some dozy moments. Maguire and Lindelof as maligned as they are by many, are still a solid partnership and with the added benefit of Casemiro in front of them.

Quietly confident we go through as long as we don't get a really dodgy ref that falls for the crap pulled by players that twat Montiel.

We should fear no-one, including these. I keep saying to myself that we had far too much bad luck in the 1st leg, hopefully the 2nd one evens it out. Fingers crossed!

Start Eriksen, bring Fred on later. Not the other way round. Our first-choice midfield 3 offers control from the start. Fred can bring energy as a sub. Doesn't work the other way round.

They played Valencia in the weekend and they looked garbage. I cant believe our bad luck to let them back in the tie.

Torn about Rashford. Don't want to risk him but also couldn't help but think we would have torn that Sevilla backline apart even more last week with him instead of Sancho. Inclined to think we keep it tight to start and leave him on the bench until the later stages especially given the potential for extra time and penalties if needed.

    De Gea
    Bissaka - Maguire - Shaw - Dalot
    Casemiro - Eriksen
    Antony - Sabitzer - Rashford
    Martial

Not that it will happen but I’d love it if we go there and blow them away in the first half and put the tie to bed. Render their shithousery and time wasting useless and completely deflate them after them thinking they were back in it. Unfortunately us shitting the bed is more likely.

Sevilla were/are shite. We cost ourselves that draw. They did fuk all to earn it accept use the ball we didn’t seem to want anymore inefficiently and fluke a couple of deflections.

I think missing Bruno and having Eriksen back is actually a blessing. Expect us to control the game better. Would definitely start Sabitzer if possible. Eriksen and Cas behind. I’d bin Sancho for anyone tbh - Pellistri even!

    I'd play:

    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Shaw Dalot
    Casemiro
    Sabitzer Eriksen
    Antony_________ Sancho
    Martial

Bring on Maguire for Shaw if can't handle 90
Rashford for Sancho on 60 if Sancho isn't making anything happen
Fred for Eriksen on 60 if we are leading
Pellistri on at 80 minutes if we need a goal
Maguire plays on the right so if Shaw starts central it’ll be Lindelof on the bench

Maguire plays on the right so if Shaw starts central it’ll be Lindelof on the bench
That’s not the only reason. Maguire misses Brighton due to suspension, so he surely will play tomorrow, 100%

They are up there with the Dyche Burnley teams on my shithouse team scale.

Make no mistake we should be beating these clowns handily. If not for a poorly managed game last week, we should have absolutely hammered them. Amything but a win and progression against this lot is a big failure.

The odds say we are favourite, but they are playing at home and have so much experience in European competitions, I would say this is a 50-50.

Maguire and Lindelof did well vs Forest, (forget the first 10 mins of Maguire), and our full backs are in good form, I don't worry about our defence but we will miss Bruno a lot, not sure if Sabitzar is fit enough to start, and the point is he is not the playmaker type of player, and if Fred start I don't think we can control the midfield, remember 1st leg what happened when Bruno was subbed out? It's all down to the midfield battle.

Guess we will in the back foot for first 15-20 mins, hope Antony can replicated the form vs Forest, and Cas-Eriksen can hold the midfield.

Prediction: 0-0 or 1-1 to go to extra-time/penalties.

These clowns are gash. A silly collapse by us last week doesn't change that. 2-0 or 3-0 away win.

I don't quite get how people are saying we can beat them 2-0 or 3-0.

They are the ones who have a full strength team (we don't).
They are at home and have an excellent home record (we have a very poor away record).
They have a history of doing very well in the EL (we don't).

Can someone who thinks we will win, give a logical argument?

Its just the pre-game optimistic weed speaking. Once the team is put out, the shouting will start.

We are a much better team even with a weakened side. Is that logical enough?

Even at our current strength we are a much better side
Their home record in La liga is 5-4-5... excellent my ass
The history of what they did with a completely different squad and coach is irrelevant to the match tomorrow and anyone factoring it in is an idiot. Do you also want teams to fear us in the Prem because we used to walk the league with SAF and Rooney?

I think then pessimism from some comes from the fact we’ve been able to cope with injuries and absentees to our best players like Casemiro, Martinez, Varane etc but over the years every time we’ve had to play without Bruno we’ve been trash. I do hope now that we have sabitzer and Eriksen, we cope better but we’ll have to see.

We're unquestionably the better team but I'm finding it hard to call this game. On paper we should win but we're just not taking enough of our chances. The longer it stays 0-0, the more likely I think it is they'll shithouse a 1-0 win near the end. I get the feeling if we take an early lead, it'll take the wind out of their sails (players and fans) and we could win by 2 or 3. But that's been one of our problems this season, taking early chances.

PS if we progress, one leg of the semi final is Thursday 11 May. We're down to play Wolves in OT on Sat 13 May, I assume that'll be switched to the Sunday?! (And if we don't get through, it'll stay on the Saturday?). I'm going to the Wolves game but can't book flights until I know what f**king day it's on!!

The result was annoying but I was more pissed off by the injuries and suspensions. A bad result can be overturned in the 2nd leg, but not a suspension or broken metatarsal!

I am still confident that we will beat Seville. With Casemiro and Erikson, we will be able to control the midfield. Martial, Sancho and Antony to attack them with Rashford coming on the bench. 2-0 to United.

I'm feeling very confident about this. We had our boots on their necks for the whole match then suddenly we lost concentration and they scored 2 insanely lucky goals. That won't happen this time. 3 goals to nil, United.

    Easy win.
    3-1 to United.
We will rediscover our mojo. Oh and Harry will put in a proper shift.

They're the same level as Forest and the like at the moment. Expecting a professional away display, 1 or 2 goals and get the job done.

It would be very important to win in normal time today. Sunday game is also crucial, and we need to get through in both tournaments
