Eriksen didnt call for the ball nor did he have a relatively simple out ball once he received the pass. The degree of stupid from some people trying to defend Maguire is laughable, I can only assume it is in a desperate attempt to prop up his value so he can be sold in the summer. He is completely useless and we were 2-0 up against this lot until the stupid slab came on and we have conceded 3 times now with him on the pitch.Zero attacking threat from us.

What are you talking about, nope? We've seen this pass hundreds of times this season and usually the player in Maguire's position drops a shoulder and goes with the ball himself, or plays the ball diagonally forward into the space for the full-back to run on to. If Maguire had noticed that he was under pressure he shouldn't a) have called for the ball, and b) played it along the ground with no power at all.

When you put Sancho, Maguire, Lindelof, De Gea and AWB together there's no way to compensate for the lack of intelligence and composure.
You see bad passes all the time. GKs don't have a monopoly on them. Watch it again. All Maguire had to do was turn and carry the ball out and he would have been safe. But he always panics and plays those short risky passes.
I'm not blaming De Gea for the pass but he is to blame for thinking that Maguire could have done something with it.

I use to think the reason we completely bypassed our own midfield in buildup was because it was terrible (which in fairness it was and still is at times), but now I'm seeing that Maguire, Lindelof and pretty much anyone else before Martinez got here are just so ineffective at progressing the ball that naturally all we do is go sideways and force ourselves to try and progress through the wings.The ref falling for absolute nonsense there
