Much better performance to be honest. Not afraid to take chances when attacking, Fellani needs to come off before he gets sent off but can't see LVG bringing on Pereira for him when we're only just leading and can't really see any other changes he could make

There is a bizzare scaremongering hatred against Fellaini on here. Yeah he's not good enough for us, but tonight he's been better by Morgan by some distance.

He's big and hard not to notice, people already hated him and he's been in poor form for most of the season.

What is with this counter attacking football? Lol

Would love Herrera and Fellaini to switch places! I think we'll be even better. Newcastle goal was poor defending.

Our inability to keep the ball today has led to that second goal. We will have a lot more counter opportunities in the next half too.

Well okay but we still scored and I haven't been contemplating alcoholism. That's a win in my book.

I'm in complete agreement with you. I feel like this is the first United game I've been properly engaged by in months.

Fellaini was unlucky tbf.. he did well to get back in first place.

Most enjoyable game of ours this season. Side looks more balanced.

I'm sure people are saying it to fit in now. It's literally trendy to give him shit for every little mistake.
Despite him winning the ball and setting us off on counters at least about 3 times in that half.
    He's actually a good footballer.

Shocked by how decent we have been. There were no signs that United would come out and play well at the weekend. We have actually been good. Maybe not great but solid.

We look superb on the counter. When Herrera is given time and space to pick up the ball and hit the runs of Martial, Rooney and, to a lesser extent, Lingard we have really had Newcastle on the back foot. Given Newcastle have lost four on the bounce maybe we should expect to have them on the ropes. Still, we lost to Bournemouth and Norwich not long ago...

Very good intensity and I like the shape of our attack. I just hope we don't get spooked by Newcastle's goal and sit on the lead in the second half. The last time we won the title there were plenty of close away wins e.g. 3-2 at Southampton in the last minute, 4-3 at Reading in the first half. Let's just keep attacking, we can score more against these if we kept at it.

I thought no one could ever top ITV with Adrian 'cliche generator' Chiles and Andy 'Get in' Townsend but by christ BT Sport are seriously contending for the position of most banal, insufferable, shithouse sporting coverage in all the land, horrific stuff.

At least it's not The two Owens tonight (the lesser of two evils).

Seems like I'm in the minority, but I didn't like that half. Felt like we were pretty mediocre up against a poor Newcastle team. Want to see more in the 2nd half.

Not really our fault if Newcastle are playing shite though, you can only beat the team put in front of you. 2 goals is 2 goals and the second one was probably the best we've scored all season.

Yep, when we scored our open play goal today, we had stretched Newcastle's players, allowing us to score.
Normally, with our slow build up, we wait for the opposition defence to line themselves up nicely, then we try and thread the ball through 8 defenders and GK - unsuccessfully.

It also keeps the defenders on their toes and us unpredictable. Defenders have to worry about both wings and decide where to defend the space, which on its turn means more freedom for the player distributing the ball.

There is a bizzare scaremongering hatred against Fellaini on here. Yeah he's not good enough for us, but tonight he's been better by Morgan by some distance.
how he's been better, the only stuff he menaged to do is to faul, lucky to be on the pitch, Morgan does his job, not brightest of games for him but nothing worrying either, with fellaini he's everywhere but nowhere.

Mediocre is an improvement over yawn-inducingly boring and crap overall, that's why it feels good. And it's actually been exciting, whether we're particularly good or not.

Morgan Schneiderlin has shown he can perform at United, he's the sort of player that will make it here.

The fact he's instantly improved us at times after coming off the bench or starting a game after not starting the previous one speaks volume. I think he's a great player, just needs to find his feet a bit.

Trust me, on the caf, it's not nearly enough.

Yes, we are more than familiar with the seedier side of the Caf with the kinds of people who would consume sandwiches with questionable fillings....

I'm in complete agreement with you. I feel like this is the first United game I've been properly engaged by in months.

Well there's always full time. And the moments afterwards....

    Owen Hargreaves is a plank.

"It's not a penalty because he's stretching out his arm to grab Fellaini, not to stop the ball".

... err Owen... he's not allowed to grab the player either you knob.

trying to think of a better one but i couldn't and we haven't scored many. looked like park to chich v chelsea a million yrs ago.

Apart from the pk, haven't we had only one shot on goal? (Lingard)

I'm sorry but how can people blame Fellaini for that?
Sneiderlin shit closing down and smalling for being asleep.
Heading the ball back into the box is only going to invite players onto it, you don't see Smalling or Blind heading the ball back in to box from that position do you? They head the ball away from the box. If Fellaini did that in the opposition box that would be great but to do it in your own box is an assist, its suicide.

Tough crowd.Thought we played without the shackles tonight.

Bloody hell - didn't realize Carrick is injured or something. Fellaini harshly got a yellow and he is not going to get any sympathy from Dean so needs to be very careful but, can't see what options we have unless Rooney drops deep and we bring in maybe Memphis.

Someone needs to tell Schneiderlin that the game kicked off a while ago. Not sure where he was for the Newcastle goal.

Could always bring on Mata and shift Herrera alongside Schneiderlin, but I reckon LVG would have a heart attack at the prospect of an attack minded player playing that deep.
Agreed on both counts, so I think the Blind move is how he plays it especially if we score another first. Hopefully he subs Fellaini by 60 because of the yellow.

Mata on for Fellaini on HT will make so much sense. Someone who can keep the ball in midfield and not get sent off in the next 15 mins.

Otherwise we're playing some positive and most importantly direct football which is pleasing. Of course Newcastle are a bit dross tonight.

Yep alot of sheep in here. I don't want to fit in cause you're all cnuts haha
Serious clumsy as he is he has put a good shift in. It's Morgan the one that is reading the paper.

We actually look dangerous on the break, don't think the RW suits Martial but he's doing his best, Lingard and Herrera's movement has been good. Should finish this off in the 2nd half as Newcastle have to push forwards.

I think getting Fellaini off, despite winning some good defensive headers, would make sense as he's close to a red.

Bring on who? We have no other midfielders to use. Pereira doesn't play that deep and Weir is a reserve player

It's severely lacking in creativity. Martial is the only one that gives me confidence.
The choice of Lingard over Memphis puzzles me, both had opportunity to impress against Sheff Utd, one of them did and misses out.
All in all, the team on the attacking front is just not really good enough.

It's what you do in training not the game before
