We've been crap away from home.

I want Di Maria to start, but I dont think he deserves it.

    ---------------Big Dave
    Valencia - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw
    ------------Herrera - Blind
    Di Maria/Januzaj - Rooney - Young
    ----------------- Falcao

    De Gea
    Valencia--Smalling--Rojo--Shaw
    Herrera--Blind--Di Maria
    Januzaj--Rooney--Young

subs: Valdes, Jones, Carrick, Fellaini, Mata, Falcao, Wilson

Only thing that worries me about that team is the lack off physicality mainly in our midfield. I think that is one of the main reasons why Rooney was playing in midfield for quite a while. But we have Carrick and Fellaini as options if needed.

I can find myself 100% in this lign up

Tiote, Colback & Cabella all missing for them must surely help us tonight.

Looking at the rest of our away fixtures this is the one that looks the most winnable IMO. (We also have Hull on the last day but they could be fighting relegation)
Delighted Cabella is missing, he is a special player in a poor side. Would be brilliant in a good side.

I feel much the same. Di Maria clearly needs to play himself back into form but perhaps it's best to give him a break from the spotlight tonight. Plus Janujaz and Young both merit starting spots given their performances on Saturday.

Hopefully Rooney can get on the scoresheet again tonight. He tends to have a good record against Newcastle. As long as he's allowed to play up the pitch enough to actually shoot...

    You know that won't happen?

Makes to much sense and too many in-form players play in their right postions.

Yea that is why I can find myself 100% in that lign up but that doesn't mean it is the most likely lign up like you said. He'll probably start 2 up top again with a cross in the midfield.

I have been disproportionately agitated to see our lineups recently. We are away, would be interesting to see if we line up with one striker.

    ---------------De Gea
    Valencia - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw
    ------------Herrera - Blind
-------Di Maria - Rooney - Young
    ----------------- Falcao

This is what I think we will line up with, although Smalling may be wrongly dropped for Jones again.

I would go with a similar team although I would drop Falcao and put Rooney up front with Mata behind and I would also give Januzaj a start on the right after his performance against Sunderland and because of Di Maria's poor form.

Di Maria, Fellaini and Falcao are all good choices to come off the bench of we are struggling to get a goal.

    I'm going with a 433 of sorts:
    de Gea
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Herrera Blind di Maria
    Mata
    Rooney Falcao
Expect Mata to feature as he's well rested and the fixtures are coming at a reasonable rate at the minute. Also I'll be pissed of Jones replaces Smalling again, after another strong performance.

    I've gone for...

    Raptori%27s-prediction-vs-Newcastle-formation-tactics.png

I'd prefer Mata on for Falcao (with Rooney as the striker), but I doubt that'll happen.

    I would love to see:

    de Gea

    Valencia
    Smalling
    Rojo
    Shaw

    Blind
    Herrera
    Mata

    Januzaj
    Rooney
    Young

I won't be getting up early for this one this time. The last 3 or 4 4:45am kick offs have been boring shite and left me tired and depressed all day.

Why don't you watch it in replay? It must surely be the best solution for non-european fans right? Or isn't it as good as watching it live?

I think Di Maria and falcao should both be on the bench tonight. I'd like to see a back 4 of Valencia, smalling, rojo, and shaw. Carrick if he's fit enough to start alongside Herrera. Januzaj and young on the wings and mata in behind Rooney. Blind in for carrick if he's not fit enough to start.

Di Maria needs to play to improve his form but I think starting on the bench and coming on at 60-70 mins would do him good. And I think januzaj deserves to start after playing well when he came on against Sunderland.

I think the Newcastle crowd will be massively up for this game, and I reckon we'll see a lot of boring sideways and backwards possession football for the first 10-15 minutes to silence them a bit. But hopefully I'm wrong.

We need to win this game, and I think we will win it 2-1.

Check the score in the morning, and watch it in replay if we won. That's what I'd do in your case.

I'll see the score and it will ruin it.
Plus, I'm not even sure how to watch it in replay. Do I download it or something?

Holy shit! Another noggie, welcome mate.

Fellaini should definitely start this IMO. I don't care if we win ugly, we just need to start picking up wins on the road.

    Agree 100%.
We need to start winning - pretty or ugly - just win away.
I cant get out of my head the struggles we had against 10 man Villa.

Its puzzling that when at Old Trafford we win so convincingly, yet away from home we can't even break down Villa (with 10 men). It defies logic.

Feeling confident about this one tonight. Newcastle haven't much to play for anymore so i don't see anything other than a comfortable win for United. One of our best performances this season came in the reverse fixture on boxing day, couple of good goals that day and some decent football. Different managers now of course , but with them being at home and Newcastle generally an attacking side, we'll have plenty of space i think to create chances tonight and i fancy us to bag 3 or 4... hopefully.

I've got a funny feeling we might actually win comfortably for once with a big scoreline, maybe 4-0 ish. Its probably just me being hopeful but you never know.

We are so shocking away from home so I don't know why I have this feeling and common sense would say its going to be another close game.

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Rocko Shaw
    Herrera Blind
    Januzaj Mata Young
    Rooney

    went with this.

    __________DDG_________
    McNair Smalling Rojo Shaw
    ______Herrera__Blind____
    __Januzaj_Di Maria___Young
    __________Rooney_______

No way he drops Januzaj and I think di Maria needs to play out of this dip in form. Shaw should be well rested and Valencia should get a rest.

Time to play the 'Stupid things that Van Gaal might do tonight' wheel for fortune!!

    - Play Mcnair ahead of Valencia
    - Drop Smalling for Jones
    - Play Rooney in midfield
    - Drop Herrera
    - Play two upfront
    - Play Januzaj in midfield
    - Start Falcao

I'm going for 2, 3 and 7. All winners get a Kenwood juice maker.

One by one the strange things LVG was consistently doing with the starting line-up in the first half of the season are disappearing. Took a long time to kill off 352 but that seems to be gone now. Herrera finally seems to be heading towards being a regular starter, thankfully. Smalling and Rojo are close to looking like a first-choice CB partnership, as they deserve to be.

Hopefully Rooney will soon be back to playing exclusively as a #9 or #10 again, and Shaw can stay fit for the rest of the season and get settled as our first-choice LB.

    Today, hopefully:

    DDG
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera AdM
    Januzaj---------------Young
    Rooney

Wilson not being in the squad makes me think that falcao will be on the bench, as I doubt he would lineup without any striker on the bench. Maybe I'm just being super optimistic and clutching at straws.

Everyone seems to be wanting a midfield of Blind, Herrera & ADM/Mata. Am I the only one who thinks that is far too weak? Blind would be left to do too much defensive work alone.
