There was at least evidence of it becoming 6/8 at the back last season. So far no evidence of us retreating when playing the 352.

Now it's 8 at the back. Haven't seen it personally. We played 3-5-2 about 5 times at most.

Yes. I have been thinking during the summer he wants to build a formation similar to his Inter one. If he get Perisic I'll be 100% sure of it.

Because this was the role he played last season when Herrera was his partner. The main difference is Herrera was a more of a b2b than a strict DMF like Matic us, so Pogba will have a more free role up front.

Cesc had played in the same role as Pogba in Jose's last title winning season with Matic beside him and Cesc was one of the best attacking players in this season.

Blind was uncharacteristically bad. His concentration was off and he was making some very silly errors.

So you didn't watch last season games against Celta Vigo, Pool,Middlesborough where we ended up at times having two sets of fullbacks and then the central midfielders trying to get in to the back line?
Listen it's the intent of a formation. We played similar line ups last season and it was anything but attacking. If you don't like that then fine.
Last season more often than not when we lost the ball we retreated back to form a wall.

When we lost the ball in pre season in the 352 we pressed and actively hunted the ball down and then tried to attack quicker. Something we never did last season in the 4231.

We'll see how it's played today but if it's anything like last season I'd say it would on evidence be more defensive.

Sounds sensible

1. given our RW 1st choice of Mkhi/Mata not that good as winger and Valencia can balance out the width (Valencia is a bit like Maicon here, tho not as good IMO)
2. Rashford can play out wide with Blind balancing out @ defense

I'm struggling to see how Mata, Rashford and Mkhitaryan will work together. Yes, they're all good attacking players in their own right. But I'm worried about how they'll gel.

An early goal will settle the nerves.
