    We're gonna win this game.

I don’t think I’ve ever been so unsure of how United will perform before a game.

If it’s anything like last week Spurs will win by three or four goals. We were all over the place. I’d expect a reaction though – It’s what United traditionally do and even under Mourinho we’ve often bounced back from low points. City aside we’ve generally performed at home in the big games.

No idea how we’ll line up. He could make 6/7 changes after what happened last week and I wouldn’t be shocked. If Valencia and Matic or fit I expect they’ll start. They’ve been badly missed. Smalling, Jones, Herrera, Fellaini, Lingard, Sanchez – Any of them could start.

Feel like it’s a close win for us which would be huge or the shit hits the fan and Spurs take us apart. If it’s the latter I will be avoiding anything football related for a while.

Jose will only be sacked when it is mathematically impossible to get top 4 OR if we are so bad (ie. near relegation zone).
This is what we saw with both LVG and Moyes. The reason: money. It's cheaper to sack the manager for not getting top 4, than to sack him when he still has a chance of getting top 4. I heard on a youtube channel (not 100% sure if this is correct), that our managers have a clause in their contract stating that if they fail to get CL football for the next season, their severance package is reduced.

With the case of Woodward, you just need to think from a money angle. If an action will reduce the profits of the club, Woodward won't do it. if the action can increase the profits, Woodward will do it.

Woodward is not a football man - he is a business man and throughout his career, his performance has been measured on financials....not footballing style or entertainment. Of course, some may argue that if we are boring to watch, it will effect our financials. Woodward will say that we haven't won the league title for years, yet we are the most profitable club in the EPL and in fairness, who can argue against that?
    Fair argument.

It's a breath of fresh air for someone to disagree in a constructive way on here. Normally it's either "FFS idiot. So stupid" or simply ""

Honestly just want a performance especially from the best players. Can't remember when that last happened. If Pogs, Martial, Sanchez and Rom played to the levels that they should, we'd win most games. Spurs, Liverpool and City seem to be able to get 7/8- 10 performances consistently out these players....

If we lose or draw I want Mourinho gone in the morning. We have Burnley away followed by an inform Watford away. We can absolutely not drop any points at home this season because every single away game is going to be incredibly tough this season.

By being realistic. We don't have the squad for it, how exactly are we expected to make up that gap on City? Liverpool also spent big this summer, it will be hard to compete.

Of course everybody wants to win the title, but our expectation for the season is top four, so with that being the case I'm not going to be annoyed if we draw at Old Trafford.

I find it amusing that every opposition team is downplaying their chances whilst we're going crazy over here about finishing second as not good enough

I do think Spurs are title are contenders with the attacking quality you've got, you're just a bit dependant on luck with your own and other peoples injuries. The same as us really.

Still no news about the squad selected ? Matic, Valencia, Sanchez ..etc ?

If last season's record against top five/six teams is any indication, United should win this game. Think my score prediction was two-nil to United.

I am more worried United will drop points against Burnley or Watford. Or both.

    And then what?

would like to see if fit

De Gea, Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Shaw, Matic, Fred, Pogba, Sanchez, Lukaku, Martial

    Doubt it though. Anyway 2-2.

I imagine a 1-0 or 2-0 job. Clinging on for dear life at the end as per most of our games.

My guess is something like this but Young instead of Valencia (though could just as easily be Young for Shaw) and Lingard instead of Martial.

Last year we played 352 so there's a chance we might do same again.

I got a good feeling about this game. Think we will win 2-0 or 3-1 but fans will still get on Mourinho's back because we'll only have 46% possession.

We'll do what we usually do against Spurs at OT under Mourinho. Scrape a narrow win and then get our hopes up and then come crashing down again over the next few games.

Not confident at all for today. The only hope I had was based on last seasons performance against the top 6.

Does the MEN spotted squad list only come out for away games?

Could Fred be dropped for Pereira if Matic plays as a defensive midfielder? He'd be so unfortunate not to play after his performances. Then again, Fred being Mourinho's signing could get preference.

Nope. For most home games the players go to the Lowry. Either Mourinho let the players stay at home and they're meeting up at Old Trafford or they'll be going to the Lowry later today.
I could really do with it to help my prediction. Matic, Valencia, Sanchez, Shaw, all being maybes is making it tough to call.

To people thinking we're going to score goals never mind a goal - don't do it to yourselves.

Must win tonight with City and Liverpool setting the pace. What I want to see more than anything is a Utd team set up to score goals and play attacking football.

Dull 0-0 tonight. And in a way I'm glad because there'll be loads tuning in hoping to see United get battered. Hour and a half of your life you'll never get back. Can't wait.

I’ve gone for a 0-0 but wouldn’t it be great to be 3-0 down at half time, put on every attacker we have and win 4-3 those were the days.

    Team news

Team news is thin on the ground at the moment. The players didn't stay at The Lowry last night so there isn't full squad news but Matic, Valencia and Sanchez are all in contention. Dalot returned to training last week but this game should be too soon for him.

As for Spurs, Lloris was arrested for drink driving on Friday but he should be available to play tonight, while Heung-Min Son is currently at the Asian Games. Today they narrowly beat Uzbekistan 4:3 and are in the semi-finals. If they win this tournament or the 2019 Asian Cup, Son will get national service exemption.
My heart says a 2-1 win to us. My head says a 1-2 win for Spurs, or worse. Ugh, I just feel so dejected over the squad and club right now, even if we were to win, it wouldn’t mean much.

    The squad from the M.E.N.

    Goalkeepers:
    David de Gea, Lee Grant

Defenders: Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Luke Shaw

Midfielders: Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, Fred, Andreas Pereira, Jesse Lingard, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini

Forwards: Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez

No Bailly? Difficult team to predict, especially in midfield. Would expect Pogba to play, but which other two? I wouldn’t have thought Matic would be fit enough to start.
