Maybe 4231 with Mata as a 10 and Herrere Matic as holding midfielders.
After Mata's error against Huddersfield, very close to the reason Mourinho didn't wanted him as #10 at Chelsea, I'd say there's zero chance of Mata starting as #10 in 4-2-3-1 or even 3-4-1-2.

    We'll win this playing 3-5-2 / 3-4-3.

    DDG
    Valencia, Jones, Bailly, Smalling, Darmian
    Herrera, Matic
    Lingard, Lukaku, Rashford

Similar to the Chelsea game last season.

Edit: Don't think we'll win if we use the 4-2-3-1. Tottenham would suffocate us in midfield.

Wait, Kane is a doubt for this game?

Great news for us if true.

Saying that, even if he isn't 100% fit, I can't see Spurs leaving him out for this one.

This is a huge game for us now. Another loss and poor performance and the slide has momentum.

Jose knows that he can't keep serving up many more poor and negative performances against the bigger teams but knows that if Kane is fit he will bully our back 4/6.
It will suit Spurs to let us come on to them and try and pick us off.
Our midfield is completely lost at the moment so this game could go anyway.

I think it will be 1:1

Kane strained his hamstring against Liverpool. That's him out for tomorrow. Huge bonus for us.

Apparently, it's a hamstring injury, I can't see how he'll be fit to play, really.

Imagine what people would say of Mourinho if he had forced Lukaku in, injured him, and got taken out of the League Cup anyhow.

All their attacking players, except for Eriksen, had a major contribution to their last game, including Llorente's 72', Son's 83' and Alli and Sissoko's whole 90', one day after us. With Kane out, it could be a slight advantage through the end of the game.

We didn't take advantage of Mane being out, we need to on Kane being out.

Absence of Kane is excellent news for us.
IF we play with passion, play for the first goal get pressure on them we will win this one.

    I am going with DDG:

“Get the first goal and then try to dominate the game, keep hold of the ball and have plenty of possession – that will be very important. We are at home in front of our own fans and we can’t afford any more slip-ups, we need to get the win to keep ourselves right up there near the top."

Thank god for Kane's absence. Imagine Lindelof vs Kane, if it came to that. Would get shredded to pieces.

They still are a goal threat with Eriksen, Dele Alli and Son in particular.

Lindelöf won't make the bench, no need to worry about that from our side. Even if Jones and Bailly were both injured, I can see at least two other players starting ahead of Lindelöf.

Yep I'm sure other teams have said they'd rather we had Pogba back than not....Kane out is a result.

    Pogback and Kanjured.

I'd like to think Kane being out swings the balance in our favour but it's probably a bit of a non-factor and I suspect Mourinho will still set up quite defensively.

A front three of Eriksen, Son and Alli still has the potential to be potent for Spurs too - hopefully Llorente starts.

Every time i go on a helicopter i fear it's going to crash. Statistically it's unlikely. Considering how we have played lately, and a Kane in form, it's logic to worry that Tottenham are picking up form at the wrong time from our perspective.
May I ask why you ever go on a helicopter?

No way in hell Lindelof gets near the starting line up, with Bailly and Jones available. Would like to see a 3-5-2 but think Jose will stick to his trusted 4-3-2-1

    Think it will be this
    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Jones Young
    Matic Herrera
    Lingard Miki Rashford
    Lukaku

If we still only have 2 midfielders then theres no way we will play with a back 4 and be outnumbered again in midfield.
Jones, Bailly and Smalling to man mark Llorente imo.
Jones to step forward in midfield.

Will the game still go on as planned as Kane will not be playing for "The Harry Kane Team" ?

These were the two sides in the game last season when we won comfortably

Spurs' team will look a lot weaker on paper this time around

    pleeeeaaaaaaaaaassssseeeee can we attack Spurs?
Not this parking the crap ass monkey biatch bus thing again

We need to take the initiative in this game, particularly with their biggest threat out. Massive blow for them, and should be nice boost for our players going into this. Of course we can't get into the mentality that this is an easy game without Kane, but I'd certainly rather be facing them without him than with.

Caf logic: What a shame, a player is injured

    My logic: Feck yeaah

    me too.

Normally the politically correct brigade go nuts over anyone rejoicing in United being handed an advantage.

It's not like his career is over and we're cheering - it's a boost to not have to worry about one of, if not the best striker in the league playing.

Got Liverpool without Mane and now Spurs without Kane. Hazard better watch out for next week.
