So by the time everyones fit and we have our new signings in, how far off the top of the league will we be?

5 points? 7? We do not want to be too far back after the first 6 games or we are fecked as the fixtures just get harder.

You know what, I've got the shits after dodgy food last night and I'm enjoying my visits to the toilet with a stinging ring more than watching my team play football....

    Thank God for andrex washlets.

Literally abused my vapour during the game, turn into some hot metal thing, too many nervous drags..
Everyone seemed like a headless chicken to me, running around, meaningless passing, what was the blimin game plan ?

Am I the only one who noticed that LVG looked to be tearful during the post-match interview?

I'm no fan of the Glazers, but we haven't exactly not spent any money over the last 12 months.

    Fellaini - 27 million
    Mata - 37 million
    Herrera - 30 million
    Shaw - 30 million

Who has spent more than us?

It was the spending before that is being questioned. No value in transfer market that was repeatedly said ignoring the issues in the squad by using the golden legs of giggs, scholes that is being questioned

Not good from the lads today, but lets not go into panic mode, we had about 8 players out, with about 4 of those players starting if they were fit and significantly improving our starting XI.

Question is, what does Van Gaal do next game? Does he continue with a 3-5-2, or does he keep the 4-2-3-1 we played in the second half?

Don't you still think that we need reinforcements?

People giving Jones MoTM, last ditch tackling doesn't make you a good defender. A good defender never has to make last ditch tackles!

I'm not sure I understand why anyone would meltdown, at least wait til January, sir Alex always said we are better suited for the second half of a season, I'm sure it'll be no different under LVG

Is that supposed to be of any comfort? We know that we need to go all guns blazing early on, especially with how our rivals improved their respective squads. Does that ring any bells?

We have alot of work to do we obviuosly now need 2-3 players hope Van.Gaal dosent waste time.

didnt we wait til January last year...?

Don't you still think that we need reinforcements?

Yes, but I'm saying if we had our strongest team today, we would have beat them. Well, that's what you'd expect anyway.

If we were to continue with a 3-5-2, apart from a centre midfielder and maybe a centre back, we've got a strong team on paper, in my opinion. We just didn't play good today. Very sloppy.

Arsenal responded to a spanking from Villa on the opening day last season by bringing in Ozil. We need a similarly significant signing, we need a lift. The players quite simply are not good enough.

Maybe, but it was a midfielder joining from deep to pass the ball home. Thats what your holding midfielder's main responsibility is to do, track midfield runners

Carrick's our holding midfielder but we've still conceded dozens of those goals the past years. I've said it many times that I rather sign a Xabi Alonso or Javi Martinez if we wont sign a world class box-to-box player like Vidal. If we'd sign any similar players like them all of them would've easily know that it's their job to cover up that space.

I quite like Herrera and even though he's at fault for the conceded goal we always seem to play sh*t when he's subbed.

Not that i agree but two managers who proceeded had plenty of time and money to rebuild.

This club is run by idiots and Fergie left the squad in a shocking state. Phil Jones, Smalling, Anderson, Young, Zaha, Cleverley, regressed players in Rio, Evra, Vida, Nani, Valencia, Fletcher etc etc.

Under Fergie we always had a few of those mediocre players but due to his miracle skills he could make players like Young, Smalling, Jones, etc look good but it's a new era and it's time to move on to the transfer policies that the other top clubs have.

I'm always for having alot of British players in a British team but unfortunately there are not many left that has the actual capacity to play in United. Evans, Carrick, Shaw, Rooney and Welbeck should stay. Rest should leave if we could replace them.

Rooney's end product is among the best in the league , but his ball control and passing more often then not is horrendously bad and more than once killed off a lot of our attacks today.
what? on at least four occasions he had the ball hammered at him and killed it dead...

The thing that worries me is that every one in the stadium can see what we need. It's quite clear that a team with a midfield of Vidal, Herrera and Di Maria along with a quality centre back we would not have lost the game.

Either we are struggling to attract these players or its the manager(can't see why DM/LVG wouldn't spot what all of us can see) or its Woody!

There was a reason why we were sloppy. I always had this fear that if we get run at by physically capable teams would our midfielders hold out. It turns out today that we didn't.

You're right, we definitely need a CM addition. A defender already being van Gaal's priority.

How in a Gods name were you right? We lost.
Because I said fletch and hernadez were awful, someone quoted saying ffs, but its evident to everyone now that was the case. Fletch should have came off, not herrera.

Thought smalling done well against a physical bony. Januzaj was good, but poor final product. Pity young got sucked in for the 2nd goal, think we would have won otherwise.

No complaints about the handball? I think rules need changed that unless your hands are down at your side, if it hits the arm it should be a free or pen

    Spend spend spend

We aren't in champs league so we will have to offer more money for players and wages, simple as that, just do it.

We can't be fussy and worry about a few million here or there.

This is the moment we have to act otherwise the perch is well and truly looking a long way off

I am the Father of Mila Kunis child.

The handball pissed me right off, considering they were being given left right and centre during the world cup, but as soon as we get a call for one in the PL at old trafford, the rules change.

Didn't expect this. Shows how far we've dropped off. The further this carries on, the more we can forget about attracting world class talent.

Gonna be a very tough season...hopefully this match turns out be the wake up call for the higher ups at the club and make them realise we can be out of europe for 3-4 years without a strong competetive squad

Agreed, fletcher should be a squad player and Hernandez should leave. We can't expect Mata, Kagawa etc to play first touch football with his poor first touch and passing. If you want to play quick football you are only as good as your worst player.

Look at how Barcelona pick their players, not a single player in that team has a bad first touch or ball control.

At any level your taught not to turn your back. If you do and it hits your hand it should be a penalty everytime. The keane one in preseason was less of one, but I still agree with it because he had his arm away from his body

Exactly! Seen him giving away the ball in offensive half today. Also, I think Januzaj crosses were horrible, which indicates he's not yet ready for a 90 min game. Coming to signings, I might sound crazy but, we need at least two mid field players, a LB/LWB (I hope Blind is on his way) and 2 center backs. I seriously doubt if we can get all these players in next two weeks. I have expected a slow start to this season even though we had easy starting fixtures. So, today's result didn't surprise me TBH.

Defense and midfield need a massive boost. Just imagine Vidal instead of Fletcher. A difference of day and night. Herrera doesn't click with Fletcher who's afraid to pass in difficult balls to get it flowing, instead decides to go for the safe route to playing it wide. Blackett seemed very nervous, opposite of what he showed in pre-season.

Herrera has to play central attacking midfielder, like he did in Bilbao. He has no idea what to do on the the CM position.

A season before last he was playing the deeper role.

Anyway, in the current status of the squad, I see no possibility of that happening. Herrera needs to be a DM, given the dearth of good options in that position.
