The only bright spot in today's game was Januzaj. It looked a lot like last season when he was the only one with aggressiveness and creativity up front.

Young has reverted back into his old days and at this point, I'd rather give Nani some playing time because at least he doesn't do the same thing over and over with the ball and offers more dimensions.

Tbf that's quite harsh on Young. He was decent until they put him as a proper left back. At the wing-back position he was secure defensively and the deliveries into the box were good for the most part.

Those last ditch tackles from Jones tell you we are a really poor defensive side. He got us out of jail.

No creativity. No drive. No pressing.
We are like a boxer without a punch. Created nothing defended poorly . some of these players are not big or good enough to play for Manchester United. Sadly SAF left us with our best players aging and no one good enough to fill their boots. Worst squad we have had for a long long time. Sad to watch

There is nothing worse then seeing people leaving the ground 5 minutesfrom the end when we're chasing the game, twats

Last season above average manager with above average team, this season good manager with above average team.

Scholes saying Rooney was the only one who looked like creating something. Thought Rooney was quite poor other than the goal

I was quite disappointed with Scholes analysis. First time he was asked his tactical advice was "give it to Rooney", second time he came up with "get the ball out wide".

It seems like when we're actually playing for something our players show their cowardice and just play it out wide. I've never been one to say get rid of player X or Y but it seems like the cowardice can't be beaten out of some players. I'm just sick of seeing players play it outwide and expect januzaj or young to solve our problems. We've seen in pre season that players like rooney and mata can create great things through the middle but they haven't had the chance to create that today with our cowardly passing. I'm gonna stop using the word coward* for today cause I'm sick of that too!

Gutted. But it was never going to be an overnight job I guess.

The moment Herrera was substituted we lost all cohesion between attack and defence. Fletcher was awful.

But even worse than Fletcher were the defence. It was like three complete strangers playing together for the first time.

If this defeat causes LVG to dip his hand into the transfer market, then it will be worth it. The time for assessing players is over.

On a positive, Januzaj and Nani looked our most dangerous players.

    Oh dear ! :(

Some of the comments in this thread are laughable.

There was never a 'quick fix'.

That's so true , but our squad has been seriously weakened by what's gone out and retired - we need seriously good players in ASAP to even start the rebirth - we cannot lose three leaders and expect any improvement

Wow first Opening game loss at OT since 1972 and Swansea first league victory at Old Trafford in their history. That's very Moyes.

Game was pedestrian once again our midfield has no spark. Too many sideways or backwards passing. Blackett was decent but we need winners at the back. The whole back 3 consisted of back up and reserve players. Gashley was back to his best no threat at all. Preseason gave some false hope not myself though I actually called this as 1-1 in the poll but I could never imagine we would lose what was really an important game for the club. Awful.

    We need better players simple.

The thing is Rooney is actually one of the main culprits of playing the ball outwide, again today too

The squad isn't good enough. We have far too many static players. Dithering in the transfer market is extremely poor considering how poor the team is currently.

    fecking awful. So, so depressing.

If we don't absolutely break the bank after this, I'm at a loss I really am. Vidal, do Maria and a top defender

But if Di Maria and Vidal saw this game considering they both play for a champions league club why would they want to leave to come to a team that looks like it is struggling.

2 seasons ago we lost our first game at Everton and were awful. Still won the league. COME ON UNITED!

Yes, my view is based on this one game.

I'm no fan of the Glazers, but we haven't exactly not spent any money over the last 12 months.

    Fellaini - 27 million
    Mata - 37 million
    Herrera - 30 million
    Shaw - 30 million

Who has spent more than us?

Don't be ridiculous. It all went downhill when he went off. David May say we need a CB who can come out of defense to get the ball to the midfield quicker.
he's name is matt hummels and failing that we should have offered rio a one-year deal for safety sakes

In the second half Rooney was our only striker on the pitch and I mostly seen him in MF.

RVP "People play in my position" Rooney need to get in the box to let mata do his thing.

    Meltdown. Meltdown. Meltdown.

LVG starts shit with great teams that challenged for the league yet everyone expects miracles after finishing 7th.

I think the tour was a bad idea after all as I think too many expect us to have a flying start.

We've got the right man he lives to evolve and change things. Everything will come good. Relax.

Many people for some reason liketo ignore the 1 billion the club has had to spend on servicing debts, rather than going back to the team, That is a disgusting, and obscene amount of money used to pay for interest repayments on the cnuts that took us over, but instead of using their money for the takeover, used the clubs

This. Whether you like it or not all of our domestic and European rivals spend £50-100 every year just to stand still.

Agreed. Some good signings and all the squad fit should see us ok for the season. Lets hope this defeat is the turning point.
