If only our players shared your winning attitude, we'd be Champions in no time at all.

Again, a silly statement. Mine, or Jamie Redknapp's view is irrelevant right now. Anyone can say what they see based on things as they stand.

Did you have a favourite for the WC before the tournament? Or did you decide to wait till the final before doing that?

Would be painful for Lingard if this is his only chance, I can see him underperforming with this unknown role.
Yeah, it's a tough one. But I guess he might not be getting any chance at all if it were not fur all the injuries. He's got to try and seize this.

    Andy Gray:

I can't remember the last time a team won a European league title with a back three.

    erm.. Juve ? You idiot.

Januzaj should have started. Don't understand what hernandez does to merit a starting spot. The only reason might be rooney is going to drop back. We might see a 3-4-2-1 lineup

LvG is high on fitness and he has emphasized that both Adnan and Fellaini haven't been in training long enough to play extended minutes. I expect him to be one of the substitutes though.

Steeeeeve Mickmanaaaaaaamaninin on BT Sports, "Ive nothing against United" er, ok.

It's more to do with confidence in the system and in the manager than anything else at the moment, even with the rather untried personnel. Really strange seeing so much pessimism.

Asked about transfers but Van Gaal says nothing cos price will go up

Looks like a cup team. Nice to see the youngsters getting a chance but we desperately need signings.

In fairness if we named a full strength side with even more new signing's people would still whinge let's be real

This stuff is silly. If you know anything about footy, surely you have enough to form an opinion?

Do you expect Chelsea and City to struggle? Or is it too early for you to form a view?! Fecking hell!

No one knows how we're going to do with Van Gaal in charge. Yeah if you're looking for a title challenge this season maybe you'll be disappointed, but this is a rebuilding process (for real this time ,not what was actually a destruction process last season) and even if we're not where we want to be yet it's an excitng time.

I'm not going to spend too much time concerned with City and Chelsea this season.

The defence makes me nervous but we should at least get the season going right? At least we have a capable manager in charge and why not enjoy that the season starts today?

Great to see Louis straight away freshening things up a bit by starting some of the youngsters something like that was badly wanted. I doubt he'd start them if he thought they weren't up for it either so I'm not worried.

It's not so strange, it is a criminally weak side in key areas, especially when compared to those we will be fighting against to regain top 4 position and the title.

The fact a team with so much money can't bloody buy anyone is really beyond belief.

We're a bit vulnerable on the wings, even for a 3-5-2. We'll win the battles in the middle of the pitch, but Lingard vs. Dyer/Routledge will be the deciding factor. Blackett will spend a lot of time at left-back, I reckon.

No issues with the line up. Just hope Hernandez is on his game. He can fall to pieces if it's not his day.

Looking at the twitter comments on the BBC live updates page really does make you realise just how dense the average football fan is.

    Exactly.

If we're on the front foot, Lingard will be the one pinning them back, I imagine that's the hope anyway. Will need to be very watchful for the counter.
