That is what is apparent to me. They seem physically stronger in many areas and just easily push some of our players off the ball.
We just have too many midgets, Mainoo, Martinez, Garnacho, Amad, who don't have the physical attributes to compete against stronger, more athletic players. Easily brushed off the ball and dispossessed. I made a comment years back on Malacia's legs are too short, and posters laughed. What i should say was he's not physical or athletic enough. We just seems to ignore athletism as a factor when we buy players. Can't have half the team being midgets and still compete against the likes of Newcastle, Brentford, etc

We are set up cowardly. We’re not pressing as a team, but seem content to sit deep at home against Southampton. And when we have the ball, we either pass it around the back line or hoof it aimlessly at a poor striker. Bizarre tactics. Very disappointing from Amorim.

I can't imagine he told them to sit back, not press and play at walking pace. This is on the players for me.

A lot more intensity is required in the second half.

I'm watching first 15 mins and if it's the same shit, I'm off to bed to watch a film about how trees grow. Has to be better than this bunch of overpaid Charlie's. What a come down from last 2 games but somehow you new it was coming . Hopeless useless 45 mins of football

Thing is after the wild celebrations on Sunday they forget it is the bread and butter games that are important, the other games are a bonus.

Usual from this lot, one step forward two steps back. Been like this for years and will take years to get it out of them.

I’d definitely bring on Collyer after his performance the other day. Get Garnacho off for anyone really, apart from Anthony (who brings absolutely feck all)

it is amazing to see how far Maz has fallen. Dude is clearly not a wingback, on either side. This club needs to get off their fecking asses and get players moved or find some damn loans that can bring in players to play these positions. The financial negligence to have players like rashford and casemiro just sitting there collecting massive checks is screwing us over.

It's easy though when you're handed a mentally destroyed squad that don't fight any more.
But we see other clubs get new managers and suddenly start winning game after game. Why is it different with us

everyone saying Southampton game raisers, were just the best at lowering our level.

He’s caught the United virus. It’s sad to see.

You can say that but they won't do it, they panic when they're pressed and the defence won't step up to help the midfield
But even Hojlund us drifting back into our third. This is being coached. Those are the tactics. Otherwise Amorim would be going mental in the technical area.

The team is full of mental midgets. Can’t seem to get up and motivated for any team outside of the top 4. Speaks to their overall laziness and mentality.

Player specific notes…Garnacho and Yoro have been particularly awful. Yoro needs to really up his physicality before he’s ready to be a starter in this league. He’s gettin bullied. Garnacho has been typical Garnacho…tons of wrong decisions, dumb giveaways, and missed chances. But his ability to get in dangerous spots is always there. It’s his only really top level quality.

Hojlund needs to come of first. Absolutely useless player.
Genuinely weird how people watch us struggle to even move the ball forwards and pop all the blame on the striker. Hojlund set up a great chance for Garnacho one of the few times we got him space in the channel.

This team lacks physicality. When the game isn’t about holding a line and springing the occasional attacks it’s so clear to see.

Midfielders that don’t press with intensity or drive the ball.

A 21 year old center forward that always looks gassed (even though I can’t see what he’s actually doing).

Garnacho so easy to bully off the ball no fear he’ll pick up the ball and drive past anyone.

Inability to push their line backwards so we keep baiting them onto us hoping a few cute passes will open things up.

    Team is awful.

There is no light at the end of the tunnel at this point, maybe we can get lucky draw in Europa.

At this point top half finish would be a miracle.

Were 2.5 seasons from legit chance of CL football. I think this is the lowest point I can remember as a supporter for 20 years.

Relegation could be the best thing that happens to us

Club is struggling financially/to sign players as is. Sponsorship can reportedly pay considerably less or terminate deal altogether in the eventuality of relegation. Players struggle with the number of games in the prem let alone in the championship

    What’s the upside?

    What an awful half!

Amad has had a few good moments, but Mazraoui has been ineffective on the left side. If Amorim is serious about winning this game, I'd recommend taking Yoro off, shifting Mazraoui to right center-back, and deploying Garnacho as left wing-back. We need two attacking threats from the wide areas.

That’s what I’ve wanted to see for ages. Garnacho is far better with the play ahead of him (as is Amad in fairness). Get them in the wide positions and make it a genuine 3 at the back, with their work rate helping them fill in.

What I think we will actually see is Yoro off and Antony on, with Amad moving to 10.

Yoro, Garnacho, Mainoo and Hojlund could all do with a serious reality check. Hook them all off at HT. Our young "talents" are embarrassments in these sorts of games.
how can you tell - no one's given him even a half-decent pass... as usual

Whenever we're expected to take the attacking initiative we're just plain bad, not only are we unable to exert any control or sustained pressure but our defensive stability falls apart too, it's a real worry. Not to mention this is against Southampton who are rock bottom of the league, it's sobering after the last two games for sure.

Yh he should have an assist but he's been missing this game. I always go back to the WB problem though, I don't think we've seen either push on or take anyone one/try to come inside. We're just sat behind their massive wall of shirts passing between the back line and then lumping it.
I mean Amad has set up two great chances, so I don’t really agree with that. Maz I have no idea what he’s doing, and in general we’ve had no presence on that entire side of the pitch apart from the Hojlund run.

Rookie coach? What are you on about? He’s not a rookie. Also, no other coach is going to get anymore of a tune out of this team because it’s the players.
Rookie in terms of experience, he's 38 or something, that is young and has zero experience outside the Portuguese league.
Big clubs need experienced coaches to get them out of a mess like we're in. ETH was also inexperienced in that he'd only managed in Holland and briefly at Bayern and look how that worked out. We need an Ancelloti figure, someone the players know has been there and done it multiple times over.

    What’s the upside?
Exactly. If we got relegated we’d probably be relegated again.
