    If there's one thing I've learned through EtH's tenure here, is that he is very strict about the positional demands that he has. Weghorst in the absence of Martial is our only no. 9 and he presses a ton. That's why he is always playing. Besides, Sancho hasn't shown yet that he can maintain the physicality required to play from the start. So at this point I still think WW over Sancho is the strongest team, IF it means Rashford on the left with Bruno at 10. If we shift Bruno out wide left again then yes, I'd say Sancho should take WW's place.

    That's fine, but those aren't the only type of critical posts we're seeing in this thread since the teamsheets were announced. Wishing we were using different personnel in a different tactical set up is one thing. Throwing a wobbly and having a meltdown because it's the same team as Sunday and people think those players "don't deserve" to play tonight and some armchair psychobabble about "alienating" bench players is just childish over-reacting.
     
    Getting really fed up of Wout to be honest, that said I’m hoping it’s Rashford left and Bruno at 10 with WW at 9.

    It's the same for me, predicted AWB for the Newcastle game as well. So many games I've got 10/11 due to misguided faith that he'd pick AWB over Dalot.

    You've got the LPL Championship in the bag with @jupi having the best chance to catch you. They've finished in the top four every season since 2018/19 and their lowest position has been eighth in 2017/18.

    Not really. No-one other than AWB really has any recourse to argue he should be in our strongest XI currently. Garnacho maybe, with rejigging the forward line.

    For sure. We have seen EtH can be utterly ruthless when he wants to be, so I have no doubt he would do as you suggest, and also why I have no doubt that he has thoroughly thought through his team selection for tonight.

    This is what disappoints me with our recent managers. There are no consequences for hammerings. Such defeats should have career altering consequences at this club for certain players but inevitably it never happens. We'll most likely win this game but that doesn't absolve them of their display at the weekend.
     
    People acting like Tan Haag would just pick this team without any explanation to the squad.

    He has 100% done this so the players who get them into a mess needs to get them out of it.

    You’d like to think it would spur a reaction from the players starting tonight.
     
    I don't mind Wout playing but damn, i really hope that he is no9, Rashy left and Bruno on no10.

    Tell that to Sancho as he watches Antony and Wout play twice every week.

    I know he might not be physically or mentally ready to play or whatever, but we have to assume he is otherwise what the fecks he doing on the bench.

    If he cant get in ahead of those two with how dismally they're playing he might as well call up his agent because his career here is cooked.

    I stay away from game threads, mostly, but this is a must perform must win, mostly. So we better do good after the last debacle.
     
    Letting the same 11 losers from the LFC game start is probably the most unlike-Eric thing Eric did so far. Must be some kind of redeem yourself psychological thing.
     
    Some of the posts reacting to the team news in this thread are a disgrace. The manager is clearly saying to the players, you are being given a chance to put this right. If you don't then expect consequences. It's good management IMO
     
    Need a good performance tonight to lift spirits after Sunday. Have to be switched on from the first minute, big test for the players and Ten Hag.

    Sancho has spent the best part of the season depressed and out of shape. He’s had a very mixed impact when he’s played and been shite starting.
     
    He’s obviously picked this team as a way of saying “fix that shit you did at the weekend”. Though feck me Dalot and Weghorst getting picked ahead of more in form players again…
     
    I get some people complaining, but I am OK with the same XI and giving them a chance to prove a point. If someone isn't at it, hook them after 20 minutes and make your point there by bringing on the benched player who's probably already knocked on the door.
     
    I suppose changing one or two would give the media a ‘dropped’ angle, plus he’s giving them a chance to redeem themselves so it makes sense. Hope they repay him.
     
    Knowing EtH he could play the same team again except two changes vs Southampton and also not change players in the second leg.

    I get giving everyone a chance but he should have made a change or two.

    This feels so emotional to me after the last game I swear if we do poor I'm going to block at least 2 more posters here.
     
    The Man United app are showing Bruno on the left, Rashford as number 9 and Weghorst as a 10. If true this is baffling, and if I am Sancho or McTomminey where does that leave them?
     
    Looking forward to seeing how they react here. Everything we've seen from Ten Hag so far suggests we are going to see a lift in performance after a game like that. Correct line up from the gaffer. Have faith. Let's go!!
