I sense a low points prediction week coming on.
That just adds to the fun. I enjoy predicting much more these games than the Premier League ones, now that 9 of our first 11 seem determined.

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Blind Darmian
    Fosu Mensa
    Schweinsteiger Fellatio
    Mkhitaryan Rashford Martial

I don't think we'll see much rotation. Maybe something like Smalling in for Jones or Shaw in for Darmian/Blind.

    I expect Ibra to start.

Will Fosu-Mensah ever start again at right-back? I'm wondering if Mourinho trusts his tactical defensive nous. Could be Darmian, but I expect Young there (although, strangely, he only started at right-back in away games).

Always worried playing a team outside of the Premiership. You can be sure they'll be going for it, so hopefully we're not underestimating them.

    I'd like to see this...

    Romero
    Darmian-TFM-Smalling-Shaw
    Schweini-Fellaini
    Lingard-Rooney-Young
    Rashford

    Rest the better players

That's a ridiculous lack of mobility between the two MF's and Rooney as an AMF/SS

Looking forward to this. Hoping a few will take this chance of rotation to prove there worth.

We have to take this seriously, it's the FA Cup and everyone knows what kind of shit happens. Reading are 3rd in the championship and remember Leeds knocked us out at OT a few years ago, non-league (?) Exeter City drew 0-0 with us at OT under SAF (a late goal by Ronaldo made it 2-0 in the away game). Give a couple of youngsters an outing, have Ibra on the bench, but keep the team strong and psyched up. Strong bench too.

We don't have to progress. If a second string of international footballers can't see off Reading at home by a goal or two, then they should be worried about their future here.

The Hull game at home is a great chance to reach another final. Mourinho has a love affair with The League Cup. We have a very good chance at winning it. Although it could be 3rd time lucky for Liverpool.

Luckily, there are 5 days between the Hull game and Liverpool on Sunday. Both are at home as well.

Romero, Rooney and possibly Schweinsteiger will all start. Hopefully TFM can get at least 30 mins under his belt, or even a start at right back.

    MEN:

Confirmed United squad members seen at The Lowry

    De Gea
    Romero
    Fosu-Mensah
    Smalling
    Rojo
    Carrick
    Schweinsteiger
    Pogba
    Lingard
    Young
    Mata
    Martial
    Rooney
    Ibrahimovic
    Rashford

So Herrera & Valencia guaranteed rest, as well as Jones. Blind & Micki will join the squad later. That's still only 17 players...

No Shaw or Darmian? No Fellaini? F… if I understand anything.

Hmm, now you made me doubt the whole info. Can't be right... Then again, it could be that there's some players who are guaranteed to start on Tuesday. And those would not start next Sunday.

Hardly anything there in terms of defensive options.

    Romero

    TFM Smalling Rojo Blind
    Schweinsteiger Pogba
    Lingard Rooney Rashford
    Zlatan

Is my (hopefully completely wrong) guess.

The actual side I'd want to see would be:

    Romero

    TFM Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Schweinsteiger Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Rooney Martial
    Rashford

Whenever Ibrahimović's not on the pitch, Rashford's sure to start, I suppose.

    Romero
    Mensah--Smalling--Rojo--Blind
    Fellaini--Pogba
    Mata--Rooney--Martial
    Rashford

I don't want Fellaini to start, but I know he will.

Is there a second part to that interview? I don't hear Mourinho saying Romero and Rooney will start yet the news is reporting that both will start and everyone here thinks they will both start.

Where does Mourinho say that Rooney and Romero will start?

    Nevermind. Found.

@Niall @Lucky McLuckerson Please add to OP.

I worry if we rest a lot of players the side we put out won't have any rhythm having not played together really. Whatever side is out there should be good enough but if there was no Ibra/Mkhitaryan/Pogba/Carrick/Herrera it could be one of those games we struggle to get chances.

Guess Shaw could still be in the match day squad as the MEN list includes 15 + Micki & Blind.

Mourinho doesn't say Rooney and Romero will play in that Embargoed video.

Where does the press pick up that Rooney and Romero will play?

I loved Stam at United. Shame how his career here ended. Fergie dropped a ball there.

Glad to see he is doing quite well at Reading. But we should we win this comfortably.

This comp is our 4th priority.
Don't even mind if we get knocked out, so long as we field mostly 2nd string players I'll be happy.

I think he knew something was amiss, too much of a coincidence that he was sold and not long later banned for steroid use.
Yeah, good point; don't suppose Fergie would come out and say publicly he was getting rid because he suspected steroid abuse. Mind you, later on in his book, Fergie did allude to being disappointed with how things ended with Stam. So could have been a combination of factors. What I remember is keen disappointment at the time.
