That French lad and that German fella and that young Brazilian guy.
I don't think Schneiderlin is even part of the squad anymore. Do you mean Pereira as the young Brazilian? He's on loan.

Jaap Stam's men have been looking very good. Won't be as easy as some might think.

I agree and the FA Cup is an important trophy for us, (almost) always has been & prolly always will.
I also believed Jose when he said he plans to win every game so he'll have scouted well and would be correct if he's cautious. All that said he will rest key players and give others a chance.

Romero will start in goal - he's been solid & we need him to stay sharp

Valencia will remain at RB because Jones will get a break leaving Rojo to partner Smalling who needs to demonstrate he can make the first team again.

I'm hoping Shaw gets a start at LB allowing Blind to try & replace Carrick at the base of the midfield three

Pogba is relentless & will start along with Herrera. Both have boundless energy & don't need the rest. One or other may be subbed off after 60 minutes assuming we've got the game in hand (2-0 or better)

Then Martial & Rashford will both start up front and MKH will be free play just in behind them

Some of the teams being put on here are laughable. This is the FA cup not the second half of a pre-season friendly.

Starts for Rashford Memphis and TFM please. No Ibra in the squad , Herrera on the bench , Pogba in the stands.

We need to take it seriously but at the same time Zlatan, Pogba and Carrick need a rest. I want to see these games used to give Blind some time in the Carrick role and Rashford time up front. Other than that I'm happy to see something close to our strongest side picked.

    ----------Romero
    Darmian--Smalling--Blind--Evra*
    -----Scweinsteiger--Timbo
    Mkhitaryan--Mata---Martial
    -----------Rashford

    *Shaw

Zlatan, Herrera, Pogba and Carrick need to recharge ahead of Liverpool

Noggies, Tv2 just bought the rights for the FA cup, they will show all FA cup matches on Tv2 Premium now bundled in with the PL package

About fecking time we got it back.
Good stuff that but I'm just perma mad with us getting less and less games over the last couple of years. Now I realise that's not Tv2's fault but combined with the hike in price the package they're selling aren't as attractive anymore.

What I would like to see:

    Romero

    TFM Tuanzebe Smalling Blind

    Schweinsteiger Fellaini

    Young Mata Martial

    Rashford

Rest as many players as possible, no Schneiderlin and Depay cause they have asked to leave, give a match to Schweiny and see how he does, give matches to Tuanzebe and TFM.

    Win!

When is the press conference for this?

Also I have to agree with the poster that said some of these teams are insanely weak. I know and hope we rest Pogba, Herrera, Ibra but do people honestly think he's going to make 11 changes?

I think the game has evolved so much over the years that using your squad is a necessity. Chelsea finally came unstuck and you have to imagine some of their players are feeling it a bit now with how few changes they've made. Not to say consistency in line-ups is out of the window, as again Chelsea are the example of almost the same 11 constantly playing giving massive momentum.

We definitely need to rest certain players as you said, but unlike a lot who are thinking they'll be 11 changes, I think it'll be more like 6. However, with Hull in the other domestic cup next, that's the opportunity to leave out the others.

My guess would be Valencia, Rojo, Carrick, and Pogba still play, but then miss the Hull game. Romero, Smalling, Fellaini, Mata, Martial, and Rashford are all strong candidates, along with Young/Darmian/Blind for Left Back and Rooney with a chance to get into the side as well if fit.

    Romero
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Young
    Carrick
    Fellaini Pogba
    Mata Rashford Martial
    ---
de Gea; Darmian, Jones; Schweinsteiger, Lingard, Mkhitaryan; Rooney

Blind, Fosu-Mensah, Memphis would be nice to fit in somehow as well. There's also Luke Shaw who has a chance to be fit to make the squad. We've got so many players who need to try and get some minutes over these two game really. Huge priority on having de Gea, Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Carrick, Herrera, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Martial, and Ibrahimovic fully fit and fresh for the Liverpool game. Left Back is a position I am still unsure on.

Anyone else slightly apathetic towards this game? I can't take my mind off of the big game against Liverpool. Just keep the key players fit and sharp and I could care less about the FA Cup.

I'm actually pretty keen on watching this and particularly how Mourino rotates the squad and then seeing how they perform. It's hard to know how many changes he will make, but even more interesting will be how those chosen, who are not playing regularly now take their chance to impress.

    Romero

    TFM - Smalling - Blind - Shaw

    Carrick - Fellaini

    Mata - Rooney - Martial

    Mata

Could be that way, too. Hoping for Rashford to get some minutes as a striker though.
Mourinho did chose Rooney as a striker last time he gave Zlatan some rest, even though Rashford was in a great form, and Rooney certainly not. I think Mourinho sees Rooney as a more natural number 9, even though it sounds a bit strange.

Not strange at all in one way. And if Rooney plays, I’d rather have him up front than as a ”10” since playmaking is involved when playing deeper. Would be nice to see Rashford in his best position though.

    Bit of team news:

    • Rooney & Romero guaranteed to start.
    • Schweinsteiger guaranteed a place in the 18.
Shaw and Blind are fit, everyone is fit. Looks like Jose is slightly hinting at resting around four players, which may not include de Gea. Have to assume Zlatan will be the most likely to not be included in the 18, with one or two of Herrera/Carrick/Pogba left out.

Reckon only one of Rashford or Martial will start. Smalling & Fellaini should be starting, hopefully Mata but not out wide if Rooney is chosen out wide instead of the number 9.

I think we'd be pretty well off if we fielded something like

    Romero
    Darmian - Smalling - Rojo - Blind
    Schweinsteiger
    Fellaini - Herrera/Pogba
    Mata - Rooney - Martial/Rashford

We could also go with the same back five and rest both Herrera and Pogba (but I think they'll sit a game out each, and not the same one) before Liverpool. It could look like this

    Back five
    Fellaini - Schweinsteiger
    Rashford - Mata - Martial
    Rooney

Some of the guys could really do with a rest (Valencia, Herrera, Pogba, Ibra, Rojo, Jones, Carrick) but I think it'd be silly to rest all of them at once. So I'd expect a game each for Pogba, Herrera, Rojo and Jones. Carrick will probably play the Hull game as it's the semifinal.

I think Mourinho was insinuating Scweinsteiger will start this game.

Rooney starting means, either Martial or Rashford will be on the bench.

Still think the team for this match will likely be stronger than that for the Hull match. A win here is more important as it means no replay, whereas we have to play a second leg against Hull regardless.

So Romero and Rooney are definitely in. I would expect a Schweini appearance too, but not sure if he'll start or come off the bench.

I wanted Rashford to get a chance up front again. He can do a job on the wing but it's not his natural position in my opinion.

Rooney up front seems a recipe for disaster.

Bench Carrick, Pogba and Zlat, but have the latter two on the bench as a safety net.

Schweiny starting would be entertaining, but hopefully means he could be a viable alternative to Carrick in places

True, but we have another cup game mid week, I image that whoever is benched tomorrow will start midweek.
